The Trolleybuses were withdrawn in 1968

  • When did they get rid of the trams?

    I was born in 82.

  • @HateFenians

  • i remmber all this and the trams this is so lovely xoxoo

  • The soundtrack is by CLUBSOUND,a funny, grand Norn Iron group..;)

  • people in ireland who have brown eyes came from africa.

    james young sung this...

  • @geoffwhite100 That could be true but the Irish ones with black eyes could have got them in a fight with Rinty Monaghan.

  • roy west

  • u would all be swinging from the trees. where do the brown irish eyes come from 1000s ys ago, cos invaded from AFRICA brown hair etc

  • @geoffwhite100

Actually most black people have black hair, where as brown hair is more dominant with white people. Many black peoople cannot even have straight long hair and instead use fake hair, such as beyonce with it stichted into the head

  • its british u tunk

  • Nice but I wish that place would leave the United Kingdom I lost a close friend in an IRA attack in London in 1996 and have no support for Northen Ireland remaining with the UK

  • @mity15 So because you lost a friend, you want the whole lot of us to take the flack for it? How many of us do you think lost loved ones on both sides during that time? It's over now anyway, and funnily enough you arn't going to ever have a say in what happens to Northern Ireland

  • @justicepartyuk There WILL be a sovereign united Ireland - Belfast is ours. This is OUR country that was annexed. If you're looking to spread your vile, here's not the place. Your posts are completely random and meaningless.

  • love it, oooooooooooooooo so many lovely memories baricades, double decker buses, getting searched and having a gr time in belfast abercorn saturday afternoon, kingarthur then a wimpy lol saturday then back home in a black taxi until the next saturday they were the good ole days xxxxxxxxx

  • Belfast, Belfast by Club Sound

  • The city in these photos is a different place entirely, the mere passage of years cannot account for the sense of rupture. I guess that's what happens when people spend 30 years blowing the fuck out of their own city.

  • Fantastic!

  • Looks like the Black Man statue opposite the Technical College.

Political correctness wouldn't allow such songs nowadays.

  • Where is the Statue at 3:25??

  • Clubsound

  • Is it bad saying it looked better then than it does now? Where did the trams go :(

  • Great pictures, do they still have the trolleybuses? and horses? don't know who sings. Love the eaccent !

  • @astridiato it was clubsound xxxxxxxx

  • wow 50, 60 years and everything seems so different I wonder how it will look like another 50 years from now.

  • My Grandmother used to work in the BEA airlines shop at 4:50

  • yes, unmistakenly Clubsound. Lyrics included "the biggest joke this side of Doagh" (Andy McFaddens Funky Wee Five Piece Band)! any of you guys out there to post where you are now? Great band. I believe they toured the States during each summer under name of Emerald something? Nice to see a Youtube thread not filled with vacuous bigotry.

  • Fkin hell mate i live in belfast.

    Its not india here.

  • :)) great video brought back lovely memories, thanks for posting

  • great video thanks for posting

  • racist song

  • @pcgamedownloadhelp - wise up! This is a classic Belfast song and shows that Belfast people can laugh at themselves.

  • How could anyone think it was Jimmy Young.

Its Clubsound, and fratures the Origional Tommy Thomas and Geordie Jones.

It's available on CD from the origional LP

The cover has the lads in cartoon on the cover with an areaplane ; Shanhill Airwways This was written by Tommy Thomas , the origional drummer and a veyr very clever man . It was ironic at the time as a Mr. Rhana ,noe one of the wealtiest Indian Gentleman and property owners in the city and only arrivd in Belfast .

  • i thinhk tommy thomas was singing here

  • Think it is Clubsound with George Jones

  • Not Clubsound. It was the great Jimmy Young who sang this song.

  • @breathbad - no this is definitely Clubsound. You can hear George Jones in the background doing the Belfast voices.

  • @bigpad69 Ok listening to it again you're right. Clubsound it is!!

You can also hear Tonga LOL on YouTube, don't know about any others.

  • most deff clubsound,great video,what about shankill airways...LOL

  • Just a minute ago, I was listening to Magic Mirror by Diana Vickers. I always refer to her as "Bullet Proof Knickers", after a line in this song

After listening to DV, and being reminded of this song, I decided to look for it. Dejected at not being able to find the song, I decided instead to look at some colour photos of Belfast instead.

And lo and behold, I've found the song!!!! WAHAY!!! Is that a coincidence or what!!!!!

  • BIG BAD BELFAST IS THE BEST. THUMBS UP!

  • Love it....great collection of pics...and that song...HA HA!!

  • Gilnahirk yeeoooo!!

  • Funny i was just looking for that song when I saw this video... excellent!!

It IS Clubsound from the album Clubsound Capers - this was the U105 presenter George Jones' band. I've saw them doing this live!

  • So NOT James Young...it's the CLUBSOUND

  • i love this song it`s so crazy

  • hello? hello? can ya hear me? aye thats it, thats it nae! this is andy mcfadden broadcastin to ya on 253 mega farts and two bicycles! hahahhaaahahaahahha brilliant memories

  • loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it

  • pics are amazing

  • brilliant love it

  • This NOT James Young! It is The Clubsound who were the resident band in the Abercorn with George Jones.

  • @77wallasey you are quite correct about it being Clubsound with George Jones.

However the main performer who accompanied Clubsound on this recording was of course Tommy Thomas.

  • Ahh, James Young , no wonder I membered it so well! I've listened to him a lot! Behind the Barricades - some songs woulda brought tears 2 yr eyes... 1 specially recall...Why can't wee Davy go & play wit Pat O"Shea? There was another which I can partly recall...goes something like" I joined the army to see the world to gain Fame and Glory, but instead of Hong Kong, something went wrong and now its a different story...... about the British soldiers sent to Northern Ireland...anyone know the rest?

  • Song written and recorded by well known Belfast comedian the late James Young who was a comedy sketch actor on stage. radio and later television.

  • I actually remember this song! I left in 1973 so must've been recorded before that? I can't believe I actually remembered all the words and could sing along to the whole thing without a missed word..........Scary!

  • i like the song and the pictures are fantastic!

  • Cool

  • oh so funny

  • george jones and clubsound has to be

  • Song is by Clubsound

  • the recording is by BELFAST P laysounds I think lol
