And yeah, why don't they just ask the people who run the business? The whole tracking garbage is a smart thing, but kind of pointless if you just ask the guys where they put it.
I'm gonna have to ask them myself since this video didn't answer it.
They don't ask because its a scientific method. Asking people is testimony, which is almost never acceptable without some other testable evidence. More evidence, better answers.
There's been attempts to turn garbage into hydrocarbon fuel. The problem is, this would take an incredibly long time. But it is possible.
I think people need to start thinking about the future, and not so much about the now. Sure, garbage can't be turned into fuel right now, but if they get started now it will ensure that future humans can take advantage of it.
In line with what crest4578 has posted, although I do feel obligated to say, what did the Sun or Venus ever do to deserve our trash ? - I understand though where the post is coming from, hopefully, the Sun would just instantly burn it all up, being so hot and everything, Venus ? I have no idea - I though ages ago the Sun would be a great place to shoot Nuclear wast to, or better still get shot of the weapons as well. Just dreaming..
Some trash is resourceful, like aluminum. So recycling is useful. Not to mention the origin of tin destroys forests. Sending trash to another plant, may be possible, but would be wasteful. The energy required, and the materials required would be expensive, when other options are available.
Radiation on the other can be managed as well. There are some bacteria that can utilize the energy from radioactive gold, removing the radioactivity.
Metal recycling is the only useful recycling. It wastes more energy and time and cost to recycle everything else. thats the problem with green jobs. Its a nice idea but it doesn't work. We could get more benefit from farming methan from landfields.
they are improving with other methods of recycling such as the ones you say and have improved much however stuff like construction waste and more is still more energy and pollution than its is to put it in a dump so we can only hope methods improve thats what life is learning and making improvements

How about we just grind up all the trash in some gigantic way and then use a sentrifuge to separate the heavy from the light, magnets to sort metal from "other" and water to separate paper and cardboard from other (plastic might be and issue here)
People are not changing at the pace of how the system can change, People are busy being Democratic and obsessed with money and their job. we just can't expect everything from "the people", they are busy.
I agree that's pretty cool....hopefully they can come up with a more effecient way for people to throw away our trash and up our recycling percentage.....
If u are not part of the solution, u are part of the problem. Agree or DIsagree? The choice is yours.

I was about to say the same thing, It is usual in the scientific world, to talk a lot and never give a real answer of a question previously asked.

nice waste of resources , couldn't they just ask people running the business ?
sewagedweller 2 years ago
they didnt need to throw away 3000 sensors...they could have just asked the garbage man
luckycharms8282 2 years ago 16
haha, i kno, wouldnt it be more economical and easier to just have meetings with waste management to discuss where does trash goes?
that is, unless where waste goes is a secret?

True on the cost of the operation, and I didn't know about the radioactive gold - bacteria thing! Thanks for the info.

our utilities are still pretty primitive compared to how our societies have evolved. I think we need to rethink how we use waste and package goods.
