i think u can take ANY lipstick regardless of the finish ( i HATE LIPGLOSS or ANY GLOSSY LIP) but sometimes i find lip shades the i loveeeeee and may be glossy so all i do is apply it and for last i take a SMALL Aamount of translucent powder( mufe or elf) and tap it on ( to mattify it) and u can gradually control how matte you want it. ive done this with all my glossy reds and plus this trick makes it LASTS ALLLL DAY OMG! i can eat anything and not worry about fading. try it!
@BekahCat of course you can i do that . u can use a small amount of translucent powder too and it makes it lasst allll dam day no matter what u eat or drink. it becomes like a stain , just that it doesnt affect the color. as long as u use something translucent or a powder exactly the same color , this trick is not really kiss proof though =D.but def tap kiss proof LOL
@BestoShohore since it's not going around your eyes, any fine craft glitter should work. fine milled cosmetics glitter is really all reflects glitter is. re: a substitute though, i've never seen a substitute for it myself - mufe diamond powders (i think that's what they're called) i have heard are similar, but i can't speak to their color range at all.

@hasita79 hi! thanks for the question :) it depends on the glitter. if it's very fine glitter (small glitter particles) then you usually don't need anything under it to help it stay. if you are using larger glitter, then you usually need some kind of "glitter glue" which can be a cream of some kind or even eyelash glue :)

@dustyohunter I haven't started on my quest for the perfect red for me, but did pop by (er drive three hours to the closest) the Mac counter to see what suggestions I could get for foundation were. I left with Studio Finish Foundation in NC15, and Blush Baby, and a huge grin. I was never a blush person, and I never would have thought of picking out that colour, but it is so pretty! Goes to show why she works at the MAC counter and I work in restaurants. XD

I tried this, it looked awesome, and, like an idiot, I immediately pressed my lips together (nervous habit). My lipstick COMPLETELY swallowed the glitter. Maybe I just needed to use more glitter...or just never press my lips together when doing this look.

@synth13490 check out that aveda lipstick i mentioned - many of aveda's colors are very "neutral" looking (coppers and bricks, etc.) and feel wonderful on the lips! they have peppermint in them so they are very moisturizing. i know i sound like a broken record but i just adore their lipsticks (i have about 15 myself of them myself and love em all!)

My favorite would probably be Illamasqua's Encounter, which is a matte true red lipstick. It's one of the few mattes that don't dry out and irritate my lips (my lips are really sensitive). Also, this is going to sound weird but I reallllly like how the lipstick is shaped. To me, the way the product is molded makes it a lot easier to apply the products even when I don't have a brush. Also, it applies really evenly and opaque, love it!

I don't know if you remember this color by MAC its the dazzle lipstick in snazzy I wear that color it goes great with my medium complexion. I also recommend the dazzle glass in like venus over it. less bold try the korres lip butter in wild rose with light gloss on top. I love red lips eps. paired with a simple nude or smokey brown eye. how long have you been with MAC?
@brittanysvlog Sounds awesome! I remember the Dazzle Lipsticks well (I have a review/swatch video of the entire collection on my channel if you look for it), I liked many of them. I don't work for MAC though (or any other cosmetics company), never have - No plans to in the future :P
I seriously would love to have you with me to pick out a perfect red lippy. I had a MAC pro artist insist on a burnt brown red (Dubbonet) for me that was horrible once I got out in the sunlight. I am very pale with yellow undertones. I cannot wear "vampy' lips to work (I'm a teacher). She thought I looked great, I thought I looked like a vampire! LOL
i really like the loreal endless lipstick i just bought at cvs for $2.82 on clearance! it's called crimson joy. i think it looked really good when i wore it (my first red lip) to a holiday party :)
they smell weird though, like candy...but worth it! it stayed all night and didn't move at all!
Also, if you ever plan on purchasing any of them, beware of the shade called "Underworld". It is the most drying, blotchy, streaky, sheer lipstick that I have ever used in my life. And I have used a lot. The color in the tube reminds me of Violetta, but when you put it on, it is like hell on your lips. lol. Horrible.
I have pink undertones in my skin, so I tend to use blue based reds, but I also own Revlon Fire And Ice, which is a orange based red, and I think it looks AMAZING on anyone with yellow/peach undertones. Especially, people with an NC25 - to NC 40 skin tone. Also, Illamasqua lipstick in Howl, is a really pretty Blue Based Vampy Matte Red. I really love that one as well, but too bad their lipsticks tend to break in the tube really easily. :(

@dustyohunter They are really flimsy. The first one that I bought, was last year at Sephora when they first started carrying Illamasqua, and when I put it on, it just broke right from the base of the tube. And I was shocked, because it was a matte lipsticks. I just got three more about a month ago, and one of them is really wobbly in the tube, like it is about to snap from the base. The matte ones are extremely pigmented, but the packaging is so cheap. They really need to get it together.
I love New York Apple by MAC! It is such a beautiful red, but nobody has mentioned it before! It was luck to find it at the counter, cause everytime I look for colornames I know and wanna try! But this colot jumped in my eyes and I love it!!
I just bought Velvetella as my birthday gift to myself. I'm planning to wear it by itself on my birthday this Thursday. I'm turning 21 so I feel that a lip liner by itself will stand up to all the drinking better than a lipstick.
I was planning to set it with either a clear gloss(one from Elizabeth Arden that I'm pretty sure was intended only as a mixing medium) or just the clear lipstick that comes with the Loreal Infallible Lipstick, which kind of reminds me of the Chanel Dragon you showed.
About 6 years ago, Aveda had come out with their pedal essence tripe accent crayons for lips, cheeks, and eyes... I bought 3 of the Gold Leaf and Geranium combos... Best thing I ever bought for my kit! On my last stick tho. Nursing it like crazy.

i am a red lipstick queen! actually i love a bold lip in any shade! my favorite reds are: Blue red-MAC heartless, Orange red-NARS jungle red, Brick red-tie between MAC viva glam 1 & Dare You, and vampy red: YSL 140 Purple Velvet (the most gorgeous purple-y wine red!)

I love Dior's Rouge Diorific in Rouge Bingo, such a pretty red that goes with warm toned skin but still has a fire engine red quality to it (which you usually only find in blue toned reds)! I also like L'Oréal's Infallible lipsticks, their Beyoncé red is gorgeous and, when applied properly, truly long-lasting.

Russian Red is my all time favorite red. I'm a big fan of matte blue based reds that make the lips all velvety and vavavavoom sexay! Everyone should have it. Everyone....damnit.
I tried to get some mixing medium from the UK MAC Pro site but it says they don't sell it anymore! So i had to go to the Pro store in London ad they have loads of it. Grr. For anyone else in the UK who has had this problem and doesn't live in/near London Illamsaqua Sealing Gel does exactly the same job.
I completely agree about the MAC pro site BS I called multiple times and keep getting told the product distribution manager will get back to me but she never does. @mhmhellogoodbye glitter is a pro item (it's listed in the info section). they're just glitter :) but VERY fine glitter - smooth enough to go on almost like a shadow. very pretty! :) i didn't swatch chanel because there are several swatches of it online. search temptalia(dot)com for chanel dragon - she's got some good photos on her site of it!

I don't know if you remember this color by MAC its the dazzle lipstick in snazzy I wear that color it goes great with my medium complexion. I also recommend the dazzle glass in like venus over it. less bold try the korres lip butter in wild rose with light gloss on top. I love red lips eps. paired with a simple nude or smokey brown eye. how long have you been with MAC?

@brittanysvlog Sounds awesome! I remember the Dazzle Lipsticks well (I have a review/swatch video of the entire collection on my channel if you look for it), I liked many of them. I don't work for MAC though (or any other cosmetics company), never have - No plans to in the future :P

I seriously would love to have you with me to pick out a perfect red lippy. I had a MAC pro artist insist on a burnt brown red (Dubbonet) for me that was horrible once I got out in the sunlight. I am very pale with yellow undertones. I cannot wear "vampy' lips to work (I'm a teacher). She thought I looked great, I thought I looked like a vampire! LOL

i really like the loreal endless lipstick i just bought at cvs for $2.82 on clearance! it's called crimson joy. i think it looked really good when i wore it (my first red lip) to a holiday party :)
they smell weird though, like candy...but worth it! it stayed all night and didn't move at all!

Also, if you ever plan on purchasing any of them, beware of the shade called "Underworld". It is the most drying, blotchy, streaky, sheer lipstick that I have ever used in my life. And I have used a lot. The color in the tube reminds me of Violetta, but when you put it on, it is like hell on your lips. lol. Horrible.

I have pink undertones in my skin, so I tend to use blue based reds, but I also own Revlon Fire And Ice, which is a orange based red, and I think it looks AMAZING on anyone with yellow/peach undertones. Especially, people with an NC25 - to NC 40 skin tone. Also, Illamasqua lipstick in Howl, is a really pretty Blue Based Vampy Matte Red. I really love that one as well, but too bad their lipsticks tend to break in the tube really easily. :(

@dustyohunter They are really flimsy. The first one that I bought, was last year at Sephora when they first started carrying Illamasqua, and when I put it on, it just broke right from the base of the tube. And I was shocked, because it was a matte lipsticks. I just got three more about a month ago, and one of them is really wobbly in the tube, like it is about to snap from the base. The matte ones are extremely pigmented, but the packaging is so cheap. They really need to get it together.

I love New York Apple by MAC! It is such a beautiful red, but nobody has mentioned it before! It was luck to find it at the counter, cause everytime I look for colornames I know and wanna try! But this colot jumped in my eyes and I love it!!

I just bought Velvetella as my birthday gift to myself. I'm planning to wear it by itself on my birthday this Thursday. I'm turning 21 so I feel that a lip liner by itself will stand up to all the drinking better than a lipstick.
I was planning to set it with either a clear gloss(one from Elizabeth Arden that I'm pretty sure was intended only as a mixing medium) or just the clear lipstick that comes with the Loreal Infallible Lipstick, which kind of reminds me of the Chanel Dragon you showed.

About 6 years ago, Aveda had come out with their pedal essence tripe accent crayons for lips, cheeks, and eyes... I bought 3 of the Gold Leaf and Geranium combos... Best thing I ever bought for my kit! On my last stick tho. Nursing it like crazy.

I love Dior's Rouge Diorific in Rouge Bingo, such a pretty red that goes with warm toned skin but still has a fire engine red quality to it (which you usually only find in blue toned reds)! I also like L'Oréal's Infallible lipsticks, their Beyoncé red is gorgeous and, when applied properly, truly long-lasting.

I have been really interested in MAC Lady Bug but there isn't even a counter near where I live so I've been scouring YouTube and the internet for good swatches and haven't found any. I tried to get some mixing medium from the UK MAC Pro site but it says they don't sell it anymore! So i had to go to the Pro store in London ad they have loads of it. Grr. For anyone else in the UK who has had this problem and doesn't live in/near London Illamsaqua Sealing Gel does exactly the same job.

I think you have to check your teeth color while choosing orange based or blue based red lipsticks
As I'm fait but very yellow toned, I should choose Warm red lipstick, but it tends to show up my yellow toned teeth as weel, which is not flattering at all
I love my 740 Revlon, My Bold and Brash MAC gloss, and MAC Ramblas Red
I also have a matte Bourjois That looks very velvety

I use a stainless steel camping mirror as a palette, it looks the same, does exactly the same job and it cost me about a pound.

@mhmhellogoodbye glitter is a pro item (it's listed in the info section). they're just glitter :) but VERY fine glitter - smooth enough to go on almost like a shadow. very pretty! :) i didn't swatch chanel because there are several swatches of it online. search temptalia(dot)com for chanel dragon - she's got some good photos on her site of it!
