I still remember the night I saw it in previews on March 17th, it was so GOOD! I Loved the final number, "Rose's Turn"! The audience was clapping so hard!
I saw the show 6 times, including the final performance and it was the most incredible theatrical experience I've ever had or will have. I completely believe that nothing as good as this has ever or will ever be on the broadway stage.
I'm sure Patti didn't plan to have someone take her picture. that wasn't the first time she stopped the show like that, and if Patti wants to stop the show to throw someone out than I say more power to her! She is Patti fucking LuPone she can do anything she wants
I'm so sad I didn't get to see this show while I was in NYC over the summer. The one night I had open to see a show, I was across the street at the Majestic Watching Phantom. I regret that I didn't put my foot down and go to Gypsy. Phantom will be on for another 10 years. Gypsy is over. I can't wait to see what Patti has in store for Broadway next!
I'm sorry to say this, but I saw it 8 times: at the beginning, it was phenomenal. But it really went downhill in or around November: bad attendance, and Patti stopped singing and commenced to yell and hoot. It was really pretty dreadful. The big blowup going around (on the 11th), was just a pathetic ploy for attention. She probably staged the whole thing.
Yes, it is truly a shame you didn't get to see this. I have seen Patti in 3 different shows....Noises Off, Sweeney Todd twice and Gypsy. She does not disappoint.
It seems like everything is closing on Broadway. The economy is really hurting Broadway. I was sad to hear that this show was closing early, but my favorite show Spring Awakening closed 2 days ago and that was really hard to take. Still, great performances like Patti's live forever!
Thank God she didn't catch you w/ ur camera!
