So I made a cardigan with alpaca yarn and I was looking online how to block alpaca and it said that it stretches really easily... can I do all the handling and the squeezing with out stretching it out? Right now I'm in this be-gentle-as-you-can-because-its-your-first-successful-sweater state of mind
@KeyLimePie2012 Alpaca isn't quite as elastic as wool, so you do have to be a bit more careful with it. You might find that after you sock it and roll it in the towel to get out excess water that you might have to kind of shape it back to its original size, since it will most likely get a bit bigger after soaking. So yes, being careful will help but you can always reblock it if it doesn't turn out like you want it to be. hope that helps :)
mh... I'm confused... Some block the parts of a sweater BEFORE sewing them together and some don't.... I'm concerned... actually the parts of my jacket are in the sink right now....anyone want to tell me: 'Don't worry, it'll be alright!' ...?
@Tinkerbelll89 This sweater was knit in the round and then steeked, so blocking it in pieces is just not possible :) So yes...Don't worry, it'll be alright for your sweater!

there is to much camera movement at the begining of the video, I might be the only one to complane( but it was worthwhile to watch.
