I suppose anyone making a genuine attempt to be nice in today's world is likely to be labeled a phony. I'm sure a punch in the face is an honest and refreshing expression of honesty to those who dislike the hypocrisy of "fake" courtesy.
Mark the error you make is that courtesy is fake.. Learning to be courteous is not fake but respectful. You have to respect yourself first before you can respect others... Courtesy and manners says a lot about the person and how they view themselves too.
Yes there was. In the 50s and early,we were taught to have manners and learn to dance... these were social graces. Its not fake but it makes being with each other a pleasant experience for everyone. Social courtesy has been abandoned since the 1960s when rules were considered to be restricting, so now people are rude, and self centered. Too many who use Ipods or talk on the cell all the time at the expense of the public.
If a person can't observe good manners to the letter, then the very LEAST a person can do is to remember not to do to someone what they wouldn't like done to them.
I'm convinced that it isn't a BIG thing that makes a person snap--it's a lot of little insults and unkindnesses that accumulate over time. It would be great if we could cut down on them in daily living.
Herbert I agree.. we have a parenting crisis today...children are not being taught manners or social courtesies. Often they emulate parents who lack the same. It use to be taught at home and emphasized at school in social settings.
Wouldn't it have been courteous to make a video that didn't drag and patronize untenably? "You can mention either boy first with two boys of the same age." I'll take people being real and honest. Simple. Easy peasy.
Dickens my daughter in her 20s state we are coming to a blacklash to the nastiness of what is being promoted today... I think our younger generation want to have some social gracies in a world today that is very self centered and rude.
Well that was interesting. Guess im not an uneducated brute afterall, didnt know that stuff about the presenting order though.
*sigh* and this was only 50 years ago? Methinks a continuance of these lessons would be good for the future generations. Courtesy really is a thing of the past nowadays.

We are actually getting back to this, since common courtesy is lacking in many instances! Great!
