Evem just to make a backup copy of a movie dvd or music cd, or even a computer program disk is ilegal in many countries, like South Africa. You can get big fines, jail time or even both.

I make how to vids for the community center in my town and the only way i use is VMware, loaded with ubuntu, win or mac, to record and zoom. There has to be a better way! PM me if need be.

Also in the latest Ubuntu version, (in 9.10 at least) there is a Ubuntu Software Center in the Main Menu, where you can find lots of software to download for free. Thoggen in just one of them. You could also use DVD::RIP which is also a very good program to rip Dvds in Ubuntu. Jai guru GLP! Pheri bhetaula!

It's not illegal if you own the copies and you use it for back-up. Re-distribution may be illegal, with vague and un-enforceable laws, but don't get scared into not ripping DVD's so you can't watch them on your netbook :-]
