  • very nice song

  • i like this song too but reshma ji & nusrat ji ka voice lajawab hain, they had such a great contribution to the sufi music...

  • Awesome :)

  • @bristidhara1 true, thanks

  • Vah! The queen has sung!

  • Proud to be bengali. Nice song from former united Pakistan.

  • I listen to this song when i have to close my eyes and dance in my mind.

  • Nice Classic Song,,,,Duma Dum Mast Kalandar

  • Proud to be Sindhi o:)

  • First this song is sung by Qawwals as the most popular song in South Asia, but it doesn't have any relations with religious Qawwali.

Second like Runa Laila, Abida Parveen etc woman singers can not be Qawwals except in India.

  • these 16 dont know what is sufiism and music

  • Am Sylheti Bengali. Runa Laila was born in this region. Her birth name is Sultana Choudhury. We love her immensely and this is one of our favourites. Nobody is immortal but her legacy will be forever be enjoyed by all whose hearts yearn for the sub-continent.

  • fantastic song or should I say qawwali by Runa Laila really too good to be true

  • OMG, what a singer ... u r the best

  • Dama Dum Must Kalander...................

  • Wonderful!

  • come on people take religion out of everything and see how everyone will co-exist peacefully. however pray and give back in your silent capacity. live simple and let others simply live.

  • bullshit religion beliefs

  • Its a Pakistani Qawali on Muslim saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander buried in Sehwan Sharif,Sindh province of Pakistan....Well sung by Runa Laila!!

  • Just a curious question to all sufi and sindhi brothers. This is my understanding. Sufism is a denomination of Islam and sindhi is a language spoken by people, predominantly found in Sindh region of Pakistan. So do Hindu,Zorastrian sindhi people rever Jhoole lal and mast qalandar? And if you are Muslim sindhi, are you a sufi? Just trying to understand the relation between Sufism, Sindhi. Thank you

  • @gnmithun I am a sindhi hindu, migrated to india and have been in usa for last 41 yrs. yes we still rever this song which was and is about sindhi culture regardless of religion. yes we love it. thanks for asking question. bhatiaumeshk@yahoo.com

  • @bhatiaumeshk Thanks for the reply. So can I say that there are Muslim sindhis who basically are sufis and Hindu,Christian,Zorashtrian etc Sindhis who are not sufis. And the saints mentioned in this song are loved and respected by all sindhis in general right?

  • i so loved it in tjhe bus..... travelling......

  • what language is this?

  • Yes , she is still alive ~!!!!

  • this is bhajan which touch heart so deeply that we lost in soul of bhajan

  • there are 11 morons who dislike this

  • @shubhchintan 12, and the word 'moron' doesn't do them justice. braindead dumbasses, they are.

  • @borlovesbou They were probably disappointed when they found out that this 'Damadamm' has nothing to do with Himesh Reshammiya.

  • @eesharc this is a song of soul....thanks

  • @borlovesbou u r right, who cares for 20, we like it...thanks

  • @shubhchintan first of all merely murmuring words "Dama Dam Mast Qalandar" makes one to performing prayers of life ( its for me) now those who do not like, let me say very mildly, perhaps they did not understand it. This makes even Buffaloes to swing. Oye Yaro shout with me "Dama Dam Mast Qalandar"

  • @shubhchintan now 20, but 527 likes it...thanks

  • bE YOU IN FOOLS' PARADISE!

ALL THOSE SA-CALLED SUFIS WERE EARLY CONVERTS!

  • Ha ha ha... I mean laughing out loud like never before.

    1. Not a qawali nor a bhajan... its a genre called 'dhamaal' dedicated to the sufis of south asia and onwards up to Turkey.

    2. This one is particularly about "lal Shahbaz Qalandar' of Tajik origin who lived from 1177 to 1272. His shrine is in Sehwan Sharif, Sind Pakistan.

    3. Dhamal music is used in particular by 'malangs' at the shrine to offer a particular 'head banging' dance offering.

Ths info is right there on the web, just a click!

  • Yes she is alive and lives in Dhaka.

  • sorry, this is a Bhajan and not a qavvali!

A great Bhajan of Sindhi /Hindu community.

  • She will be youg forever....

  • @marioinnes: Hey man! wht the heck! She is still alive & still young, in Dhaka, BD

  • REALLY SHE HAS DIVINE VOICE

  • I first heard Runa Laila sing this way back in the late 1970's and early 1980's when I lived in Nairobi, Kenya. This is one of my favourite qawalis. Love it. Thank you so much for this upload. Its really taken me back in time with some good memories.

  • jokes apart...m an INDIAN but i like nusrat jee a lot

  • Runa laila ki aawaz mein ek ajeeb si kashish hai. Meri ye dua hai ki upar wala hamesha unki awaz ko salamat rakhen.

  • This song requires the singer to inject some emotion and power in the voice. Noor Jahan version is very very powerful although Runa has a more purer voice. Two great artists of their day.

  • brilliant

india pakistan and bangladesh have similar culture

why do we fight dont know

why cant we keep kashmir in current state only and stop fighting

    i m from india

  • nice....i don,t want to compare it with Ustad nusrat fateh ali khan...he was a legend.bt runa laila also rockkkks....

  • BHAI SABRISA PLEASE DO NOT SAY PAKIS.PAKISTAN NAME IS VERY HOLY NAME.PUNJAB P.AFGINISTAN A.KASHMIR K.BELUSISTAN IS STAN TOTAL PAKISTAN. i am Bangladeshi but i do not like hate any country name.we are proud that pakistani people is very fond of runa songs.

  • as my opinion three are five female music star of bangladesh.they are ferdousi rahman, runa laila, sabina yasmin, baby naznin and momtaz and more and more talent singerb of bangladesh.

  • Konokchapa, Samina Chowdhury and Fahmida Nodi are simply one of the best.

  • It is one of the best "Dhamal" ever sung.Runa Laila is one of the most melodious singer... we have lost!

  • She belongs to your audience as much as she belongs to us. So she is still there in spirit.

  • Pakis are crazy about Runa singing this song. When she came to Toronto for a live in concert the hall was filled with Pakis and all they wanted her sing was this song. They became crazy once she started singing the song. They were dancing and doing all sorts of stuff. We Bengalis were just stunned. I was there.

  • @sabbirsa Who r u ? and what are you doing there?

  • lollll What?

  • @RJ2121 - Not sure what you mean by 'ruined'. Heard this over 30 years anf STILL find this very lively & refreshing.

  • @WirasatAli Sir Ji, you need to listen to this Dhamal performed by other singers, legends like Nusrat Fateh Ali, Noor Jehan, Abida PArveen and a few more. Once you listen them, you will know the difference. Runa's sung dhamal does not leave any impact nor effect. Sorry! if you cannot see that. No hard feelings, please

  • @RJ2121 ye shirkia song hay

  • @RJ2121 Ya i agree with u i lisen all of them in this qwalli but i mostely liked of Madam noor jehan

She is still alive physically but her beautiful voice will remain in our heart even aft she dies.
