Same company, same displacement, same supercharger same aluminum block yet completely different heads but when people see the Romeo badging and Lysholm Superchargers they assume it's the same specs all around. Really the only major dif is 16 vs 32 valve heads but the rest of the motor is dame near the same.

@gnockergnutz That's funny because not more than 6 weeks ago we pulled a blown 5.4 out of my nieghbors 2001 lightning and sure enough the CAST IRON block had a hole in the #6 cylinder wall...you must have the only lightning on the face of the planet with a all aluminum block...because if you do a search for F-150 lightning motor you will see aluminum heads and cast iron block...Anything before the Ford GT and less expensive at that came with a cast iron block..includeing the 03-04 cobras.
@gnockergnutz We just got the 5.4 all aluminum replacement engine from FRPP online and are on are way to getting the truck tuned this next weekend with the new 3.4L kenne bell. Not to be a dick..but dude...its not the same engine block as a GT. The front timing cover makes it look all aluminum but I gauruntee you it is cast iron behind that.
@gnockergnutz And the only difference to further your knowledge of your own truck from the standard F-150 block to the lightning is the forged crank and lower Compression pistons and the heads in 01 got fixed from the spark plug issue were they pop out of the head under higher boost conditions and from people not doing maintenance and going way past the change interval and they back out far enough to shoot out ruining the coil in the process.

haha it dont take 20 or 30 grand in a lightning to beat an srt10. there are plenty of 1000 plus horsepower srts but they run a shitty quarter mile. too big and the 6spd messes that up. if anything the lightning has prolly less than 2k in it as far as performance. the dodge is a cool truck though. 500hp 6spd it would be fun to drive. but a lightning is still faster.

ya the srt 10 was deff not raceing the L. didnt hear any noise from the dodge all i heard was anoying super charger wine. thats only at 110 my 2000 jeep cherokee does that no problem granted i did some intake porting but u probobly have what 200 hp on me and im geared for offroad yes i know the speedo on my jeep only goes to 100 i used a gps and raced my buddys darango i topped out at 118.26 mph not to bad i think.

@chevyORdodgeFUCKford I have a 01 chevy silverado z71 with 167000 on her and counting. Were gettting a new truck cause its falling apart. The paint is peeling off, all the electrical motors are starting to fail, the tranny is slippping, and the interior is fallin apart. We dont offroad it and most miles are highway miles. Oh and she knocks for the first minute or so till she warm in the morning. Meanwhile me lightning has 110000 miles on her, still runs 12s, and everyhting still works.
@mercman420 !st did you buy it new, 2nd how often do you change your oil, 3rd who do you let drive the truck, 4th when you dive it do you baby it like you probably do your lighting i think not so. I hav a 96 tahoe wit a 160,000 orignal motor & tranny that can lay down a nice set of peel marks on the pavement witout gas/braking wet or dry. And everything still works ac/heat power everything.

@mercman420 i am a mechanic and will tell you the truth i see fords come in with perfect maintence records withless than 40k miles and falling apart. had a lincon with 35k miles the entire cooling sytem full of leaks because of a failed hydro servo and it over heated and split the bottle and hoses. have had the same with gm the ones that come in lasting the longest are chrysler products.
@mercman420 I am not calling any maker out, but, I had a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 that lasted 150K miles with everything working except my tow/haul mode button stopped working and that was caused by the steering column fraying the wire, supposedly. Interior, exterior and mechanically it was almost perfect. My cousin had a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 in it. No problems except fuel pump, ujoints and cruise stopped working. All of this @ 170K miles
@mercman420 Finally, my father has a 2004 F-150 Lariat with the 5.4.
At 85K the motor had to be taken apart to replace cam phasers? His rear sliding window motor + 3 other door window motors went out, cruise stopped working, memory seats stopped working, heated side mirrors stopped working (all under 100K). Thankfully all of these problems were covered under his warranty. Unfortunately @ 110K he now has a very bad slipping trans in 4th.

How is it that everyone is Ford bashing when in 2004 they did a stock - stock comparison and the SRT10 had a 0.1 quicker E/T in the 1/4 mile with an extra 125hp?? A lightning with less than a grand in it would eat an SRT10 alive. Do some research before you bash cars and get all redneck with your Dodge and Chevy for life b.s.

haha it dont take 20 or 30 grand in a lightning to beat an srt10. there are plenty of 1000 plus horsepower srts but they run a shitty quarter mile. too big and the 6spd messes that up. if anything the lightning has prolly less than 2k in it as far as performance. the dodge is a cool truck though. 500hp 6spd it would be fun to drive. but a lightning is still faster.

dodge are bad news..... i was walking around the dodge lot here in punta gorda and there were dashs that had already started to crack.....I got into an 2001 ram 1500 with 5% all the way around and the dash was gone.... they picked the pieces out.... with only 125k miles on it and garage kept....the POS 318 is just that it runs like crap just like a chevy..... ford is the way to go everything else blows....

ya the srt 10 was deff not raceing the L. didnt hear any noise from the dodge all i heard was anoying super charger wine. thats only at 110 my 2000 jeep cherokee does that no problem granted i did some intake porting but u probobly have what 200 hp on me and im geared for offroad yes i know the speedo on my jeep only goes to 100 i used a gps and raced my buddys darango i topped out at 118.26 mph not to bad i think.

@chevyORdodgeFUCKford I have a 01 chevy silverado z71 with 167000 on her and counting. Were gettting a new truck cause its falling apart. The paint is peeling off, all the electrical motors are starting to fail, the tranny is slippping, and the interior is fallin apart. We dont offroad it and most miles are highway miles. Oh and she knocks for the first minute or so till she warm in the morning. Meanwhile me lightning has 110000 miles on her, still runs 12s, and everyhting still works.

I hav a 96 tahoe wit a 160,000 orignal motor & tranny that can lay down a nice set of peel marks on the pavement witout gas/braking wet or dry. And everything still works ac/heat power everything.

@mercman420 i am a mechanic and will tell you the truth i see fords come in with perfect maintence records withless than 40k miles and falling apart. had a lincon with 35k miles the entire cooling sytem full of leaks because of a failed hydro servo and it over heated and split the bottle and hoses. have had the same with gm the ones that come in lasting the longest are chrysler products.

@mercman420 I am not calling any maker out, but, I had a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 that lasted 150K miles with everything working except my tow/haul mode button stopped working and that was caused by the steering column fraying the wire, supposedly. Interior, exterior and mechanically it was almost perfect. My cousin had a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 in it. No problems except fuel pump, ujoints and cruise stopped working. All of this @ 170K miles

@mercman420 Finally, my father has a 2004 F-150 Lariat with the 5.4.
At 85K the motor had to be taken apart to replace cam phasers? His rear sliding window motor + 3 other door window motors went out, cruise stopped working, memory seats stopped working, heated side mirrors stopped working (all under 100K). Thankfully all of these problems were covered under his warranty. Unfortunately @ 110K he now has a very bad slipping trans in 4th.
