  • Love it, love it. Did I mention I love it?

  • Well, you never know. Hopefully someday, Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five might earn a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame for their great contributions to rap music.

  • 'The Message' is the pinnacle of rap art.

Everything before it led up to its moment.

Everything that came after operates in its shadow.

    * * * * * end of transmission * * * * *

  • mele mel is too busy flexing and looking like a roided up jersey shore guido, to actually move naturally.

    shits hilarious

  • Their performance on hall of fame night was phenomenal

  • yes it rip cow i know i dont know how it happen to him messy up sigh i love it them they is g ood great hihop number one and it good too bass louder grweat great number one

  • This was for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. These brothers are the Honorable Inductees. I know this was the Waldoff Astoria Hotel but you gotta be freakin kidding me. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is the Oscars of Music. That's blatant disrespect to these men, especially when this hotel most likely made millions off of this affair.

  • @Baltimorehop why do you think the rock hall of fame is the equal to the oscars? i dont get it

  • @dog1clear ~ In the context of my blog, The Oscars is the end all to be all in the actors world. To win an Oscar is the apex. With that said, in one faction of the music world, the Rock Hall of Fame is the apex, is it not? Apex meaning the highest point or pinnacle. In other words, it was a figure of speech. By the way, I'm not an Oscars fan if this was in the back of your mind. =)

  • @Baltimorehop no i didn't think that. i just think that the pinnacle of success for rap and hip hop artist would be the bet awards or even the grammy's. the rock hall is not the top if its not true to it genre. thats my contention. also i believe the rock hall has become a joke with the inductee's as these rap and hip hop artist. no disrespect to them believe me. it's a credability issue for me for those who run the R&RHOF. it seems there just putting anyone in.

  • @dog1clear ~ Believe me, when you said that, I was looking at yoru comment in different ways. One of them was the way you just explained it. I was definitely wondering if you were taking a shot at the R&R HOF. Your absolutely right. I don't get it with them. Perhaps GMF & the Furious 5 thought this was the pinnacle given the era they're from. The BET Awards IS the pinnacle for hip hop artist b/c its the only show that lets them freely express their art with limited interjections.

  • @Baltimorehop thats cool at least your gettin what i'm saying.

  • Who cares if it isn't rock - these guys were an important and influential act that needs to be recgonised. Peace from Sydney Australia.

  • @skipper376 i care skipper if it aint rock then i care, they got hip hop awards i'm still waiting for them to induct pink floyd.

  • @dog1clear who is pink floyd?

  • @Dracenfels01 i think its a mixed drink.

  • @dog1clear touche

  • Oh shit,Mele Mel,be on the same juice 50 using, that shit be bad for your most valuable possession.Next stop hitting the Vi up,to get up.Dont touch none of that shit.

  • hmmmm still not rock, nope not at all

  • @dog1clear thank the lord!

  • @nuke572 copy that my friend

  • THis brings back memories. In '77, I used to go to the South Bronx to get Flash & The Furious Five - (at that time they were The Furious Four) cassette tapes from my graffiti partner NOC 167. At that time, GMF & FF were like gods in NYC.

  • I leave my house, button my jacket, and press play on my ipod and GMF blasts out - the 30 minute trip to work is no longer a chore! LOVE this lot.

  • True dat, I'm not much of a fan of hip hop,but grand master Flash and The furious 5 did so much tohelp change hip hop and music in general, can't see why some people be hating on them,They truly deserved to be the 1st hiphop group inducted, their beats were sick and their music had real messages especially during those roguh times back in the day, well deserved.

  • @animal90sFreak5 i dont hate them there not rock thats all.

  • wholly deserved, they changed EVERYTHING!

  • does anybody know what happened to larry ???

  • r.i.p cowboy!!!

  • @bboyjav84 which is one who is deaf rip? i wan ti to know are you joke ?? or what huh??

  • wat??

  • whats the track called at 2;39?

  • By lettin' the babies know where this shit came from, cause all these tracks been sampled as current hits, an this shit is the foundation, an Im young

  • Congratulations,an Salute, these cats deserved to be, this adds creditability and longevity to hip hop an rap as a genre, the goal is to be for cats like LL, Ra, these cats etc to be able to continue to be supported by buyin' an records an tourin' like old rock cats like Aerosmith, journey, etc, at that point hip hop will be at its pennacle, dig...We have to value our own,

  • god jul

  • God Jul og godt nytt år :)

  • god jul

  • i am so proud of them its been a long time comming

  • yeah, these are the true kings. i'm from the era and they are the foundation of hip hop. jay z inducted them and like a sucker, read some corny shit he text from his cell phone. He should of been on his damn knees saluting the very first emcee "melle mel". peace

  • yo man i am feeling you, you were thinking the same thing i said awhile ago,why jay z he didnt really know what went down in the late seventies, a matter of fact them boyz from bk, queens, have not started the movement until after the sugar hill gang ya herd,me or you should of been on the stage hornering the legents...real talk peace enjoy the hollidazs

  • how come he be that buff when being at least 50? crazy how do you american people get to amaze the world lol!!!

  • can someone tell me the name of the record/break at 5:00?

I've been wondering all my life what it is.

  • Just Buggin - Whistle and the break was also used on Pump Up the Volume

  • Comment removed

  • The original break is

PLEASURE - Celebrate The Good Things

  • You fucking cunts need to stop assuming that rock and roll represents more of an ethos then a style of music. In other words rock and roll has a large garden of sounds and variety of sonic textures. Ya dig?

  • this is the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame. not the experimentation of popular music today hall of fame. so you suggest britney spears christina a. all these other bubble gum smacking pop tarts get in with likes of true rock and roll artist and pioneers? get your own fucking hall of fame for that shit and i would gaurentee you nobody would give fuck whos in it except the people who listen to it. maybe the should put a hockey player in the football hall of fame. fucking idiot.

  • Rock and Roll is technically dead what is alive is music that has that similar ethos and it is seen in many styles. Thier is so much variety and experimentation in popular music today and in the past (thank GOD) and to not include major rap artists is bullshit. Not everything Bob Dylan did was rock, artists like The beatles and the who experimented with avant garde and musique concrete elements.

  • also granmaster flash had a bigger influence on the whole scene of music we have today than fucking black sabbath did

  • what influence did they have on rock conrad? i'm just a guy trying to figure in gmf and led zep. i'v never heard any rock band give kudos to gmf for there influance. so what fucking influance did they have on classic rock? enlighten me o learned one. go to the music store, music has been categorized for years. fucking douchbag

  • gmf influenced hip hop and rap, i'll give you the edge with the beasty boys. but black sabbath came first before hip hop before rap before grand master flash. i'm assuming with you sweeping statement you need a history lesson. they have nothing to do with rock. conrad 2times

  • most of you people dont no what your talking about grandmaster flash used lots of rock samples in his music

stop categorizing music and just enjoy it assholes

  • Oh and by the way Dave Clark 5 is still being sampled by Hip Hop producers today.

  • And further more why waste your energy on using the middle finger at the Furious 5, they didn't put themselves in the Hall of Fame. So stop being ignorant and hiding behind your computer with your racists attitude. It's people like you who would have said that rock and roll is a fad. Then you realize how powerful the music is and you jump right on in there and mess up the original blueprint anyway.

  • Who said Hip Hop started in the 30's, although alot of aspects of rap was done in that era. The history of rock and roll developed by black people was what I referring too. Hip hop uses every musical origin it's never been limited to one thing. To ask can any of the members can play an instrument well that's easy yes they do. If you've never been to a Furious Five show then why are you commenting. Dave Clark is very deserving of Hall of Fame credentials. Don't discredit the Furious 5 award.

  • to loveclevlandohio, I guess you don't have a clue about rock and roll and it's history. Well just remember the origin and stop there. Hip Hop music incorporates all music, so if the Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash gets recognized so be it. Peace

  • So you're telling me rap started in the 30's? Is this the origin you're talking about? Rap and hip hop have nothing to do with rock and roll. Rock and roll artists actually sing and play an instrument. Can rappers do that?

  • Many of the artists inducted into the hall of fame are not considered rock artists, they are in there because of their contribution to the music scene as a whole. DC5 is a deserving group who has been inducted and even if they weren't, not everyone "great," can be in the hall of fame. Wether you like grandmaster or not there is no doubt he was one of the most popular pioneers of a whole new style of music with its own distinct diverse culture and if thats not rock and roll i dont know what is.

  • well lets see grand master flash open for black sabbath. i have a pretty good idea whats gonna happen. first nobody gonna sit there and discuss the pros and cons of hip hop or raps so called contribution to rock n roll. they'll get rioted off the stage. when you go to a rock concert there better be rock. i'm gonna assume you don't know what rock n roll is. GMF is not fucking rock and has no contribution to it.

  • when i say "rock and roll," i meant the attitude, the innovation, the creativity the scene, and the fact that they carried on no matter what people like you had to say to them. I never said the actual music was rock music.Louis armstrong would have never opened for sabbath either, doesnt mean he shouldnt be on the list. You assume wrong about me, and you assume black sabbath fans are closed minded about music. The rock and roll hall of fame is just a name, the hall is about music.

  • well then whats the point then of even of having a rock hall of fame if basically pretty much anyone can get in. lets just start all over and call it the music hall of fame. and by the way i could care less who innovated hip hop, rap music because i dont listen to it. because my whole life it's been rock, my choice it's what i like. that being said louis armstrong, GMF or any other group or individual artist that is not catagorized as rock should not be in it. jann wenner is a idiot.

  • if chuck berry, little richard, the four tops opened for some Black sabbath they'd get "rioted" off stage too but it wouldn't have anything to do with them not having anything to do with rock 'n roll (BECAUSE THEY INVENTED ROCK ' ROLL!!) it's because of what the music evolved into from what they created. Therefore, rap in the way the furious five (& other hip hop/bronxers)introduced it to the world was a hybrid of various musical forms--of course rock & roll influenced (Melle Mel's "urrah!")

  • first of all that would be a pretty sweet show. when you get your hip hop rap hall of fame make sure their the first inductees. look kamen the issue here is it's the(ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME). i dont care how you spin it GMF is not rock. i'm sure their pionneers for hip hop and kudos to them. but they wont be in the rock catagory at the music store.

  • should the temptations be in the rock and roll hall of fame they not a rock group? i thought the hall of fame was for all musical genres..cause that whats in the hall right now different musical generes.

  • well there are different catagories of music. the rock hall screwed up by calling it self rock and roll hall of fame. that being said either its rock or not. gmf is not rock, they should of called it the music hall of fame. if it were we would not even be discussing this.

  • nobody deserved it more than them
