Fantastic song. I bought 'Children of the Night' when it was first released and this song still knocks spots off anything released today. Classic bass line in the middle. Thanks for posting
I remember seeing this group at the Hammersmith Apollo, they were the support band with Alexander O Neal and Cherrelle topping the bill, gotta say I was hooked then and still am now,Thanks for posting
This sounds very English by the male singer. Who sang lead on this? You know, when I bought the cassette "Children Of The Night" at a used record store, yet unopened back in 2000, this is one of my favourite LP cuts or should I say tune, really. I used to play the heck out of this song! On their next LP "Somethings Going On" it seems that Diane lost that jazzy soul edge in her singing style which became unrecognizable. That was appalling, it was still 52nd Street at the same time.
@OutdaWoodwurks No Tony Bowry was the lead on this version from 1985. 10/Virgin MCA. Tony Henry sung lead on the original unreleased Factory Records recording in 1984.
@UltraPOPDJ Wrong choice of producer for their follow up album, made them fade away. Hard the come out with a follow up that was as good as "children of the night". Only Nick Martinelle could have done the job!
I rated this track right from it's release on the B side of one of their big singles. Can't remember which one. I remember having big arguments as I was told it couldn't possibly be any good as only a B side and people weren't all rushing up to ask for it! A tune is a tune regardless in my book!
