  • OMG a lespaul with floyd rose

  • @FruduaTv .. tenerlo in posizione.

Buon lavoro.

  • why didn't you take the locking nuts off when tuning?

  • Borat voice!

  • This is a fantastic video that explains it simply and easy to understand. Floyd Rose bridges get a bad rap, but if you follow this video and do it right, your Floyd can be your best friend. Great video!!!!

  • guitar>check

    screwdriver>check

    hex-wrench >check

    block of wood>check

    tuner>sh*t I don't got one

must invest in a tuner. :(

  • excellent lesson !!!

    you are a Aspirin !!!

  • lier, 12 minutes 12 seconds actually, u forgot the length of the video...

  • Cool man. Thanks for the lesson!

  • Thanks

  • Beatiful guitar, beatiful ! :O

  • @IgorUptheIrons Thank you!

  • if i treated Floyd rose as you do can i play different tuning without problems??

  • @mustanggt209 YEs but see the updated video

  • Very NICE!!!! Chow!

  • I play in drop B,is it the same thing? (highs frets are buzzing like hell,I have no sustain)

  • @gianniswildchild You may have a too upbowed neck and have to release the truss rod a bit see my other related video.

  • And it takes the guitar tech at sam ash 45 mins and he charges 100 dollars.

  • sei un grande!!!!

  • I also wish that you were my guitar tech. Thank you for your dedication and help from this video post. I want to set mine in dropped d. Well, I have subscribed to your channel and thanks again.

  • Thanks this really helps!

  • What kind of guitar is that? @ 1:45 man that thing is beautiful.

  • @PSNgregiskool This is one of the GFF I made by hand check fruduaguitars>>>dot>>com

  • @FruduaTv Wow amazing guitars. How do I get one?

  • @PSNgregiskool This is one of the GFF I made by hand check fruduaguitars>>>dot>>com

  • @imcarrying Guarda l'altro video questo è obsoleto.

  • hey bro i just tuned my guitar down to half a step down was in standard now i have alot of dead notes up the neck need to set it up again i got told every time u change the tuning u need to set it up again i just bought it and wanted it in half step down dunnoi how to set it up

  • @billyjoearmstrong33 If you tune the guitar down you just need to release the truss rod a bit. Check out the other dedicated video in my channel (truss rod adjustment).

  • hey man just bought a floyd rose put it from standard to half step down gt sum dead notes up higher how do i fix this

  • @billyjoearmstrong33 You just need to release the truss rod a bit. Check out the other dedicated video in my channel (truss rod adjustment).

  • @billyjoearmstrong33 Before you go messing around with your truss rod tension you should be releasing the spring tension on the bridge a bit first if you haven't already done that. Once your truss rod is set in the position you enjoy, you shouldn't ever have to touch it again unless it warps from weathering. Especially if you're not familiar with truss rod adjustment. When you tune down your bridge drops back causing dead notes due to less tension on the springs. IDK why no one mentioned it.

  • @billyjoearmstrong33 Sorry that its 3 weeks late, but if this is your first FR bridge than I'm assuming you didn't realize how they work. There's 2 screws that hold the springs in place, and to change the spring tension you just loosen them a couple turns. You'll notice it pulls the bridge back to its original position in standard tuning after you tune your guitar back up to the half step down. This is true for any tuning. That's why those screws are exposed on most newer spring covers.

  • Excellent! This is just great!

  • would u do this to make your guitar to go from standard tune to drop d?

  • @crazyguitarmaniac08 yes but check out the other video this one is obsolete.

  • superb help thanks, i'v been setting them up wrong all these years : /

  • Please guys check my new youtube/fruduadirectdeal channel

  • paint job looks fantastic.

  • do you wanna make me a guitar if so how much would it cost?

  • @kalmahman48 please check out fruduadirectdeal on youtube

  • @kidwithucamera It's Germarded ;)

  • arent the Original ones Coarse thread & really long though?>

  • @97warlock Not sure what you mean. Chcek for the original ones in the pictures of the OFR kits.

  • @FruduaTv My 2 screw posts that came with the Original Floyd...are long & have coarse threads.... ........Yet the ones on stumac are shorter & have Fine threads. / Which is good because i think I need the shorter ones with Fine thread.

  • makes sense ...But the problem didnt start until I put the Original Floyd on the "new" guitar and used the "lisenced floyd screw posts" that were already on that guitar. / since my 1st posting here I have tajen the 2 screw posts out & simply reversed them with each other. (the post on the Low E & put it on the High E side, & the high E side i put on the Low E side, & it seemd to improve the tuning prob a little bit.

  • @97warlock May be but you have to use brand new posts and also the original coming with the OFR.

  • @FruduaTv ....I agree, I think that should do it....Now to find the correct posts that will fit the bushings thats in this guitar. I hear theres many variations for an original floyd.

  • @97warlock No just two on the OFR. The one to be screwd directly inside the wood and the other one with the bushing

  • @FruduaTv .......My Old Original Floyd posts...are "coarse " thread & really long . .....the ones i seen on Stewmac are "fine" thread & much shorter which thats what i think I need the ones from stewmac because the ones in it Now are finethread & sorta short ,like an inch - an inch and a half.

  • @97warlock Yes stewmac are not the orignal. You have to use OFR ones.

  • @FruduaTv So theres 2 different Types of Screw pivot posts for the Original Floyd? Fine thread=Bushing........and Coarse thread longer= directly into wood(no bushing) Correct?

  • @97warlock Yes correct

  • @FruduaTv Ok, TY.....I have 2 old original floyd Long Coarse screw posts......but my guitar has Bushings for shorter Fine thread screwposts.......now i understand.......I'll just get some screwposts for these bushings ,prob solved haha. cool thanx

  • U do excellent vids dude, real helpful. Can u tell me why my OFR (late 80s,off old kramer) refuses to stay intune......the Only difference now from when it USED to stay intune,is the 2 screwposts are what came on the guitar & are slightly skinnier posts, compared to the OFR posts, but they sit the same so why wont it stay intune.Edges are sharp & clean. Any ideas?

  • @FruduaTv ...OFR= Original Floyd Rose, sorry ..........The 2 screwposts....are what the Floyd pivots againts. They screw down into the guitar.

  • @97warlock ok Sorry. So 90% of times the pivots or the FR edges on the palte are worn out. They may appear ok to you but teay may be. Some other times you may have the FR too angled Low E respect to hi E or the plate not prfectly aligned with the body. Start form this.

  • What about intonating a Floyd? Any videos of that coming up?

  • I thought that there were hundreds on the tube. Not? Are they missing some infos?

  • @diablosrising There should be already a lot on the tube not?

  • What are the dimensions of the wooden block

  • @slashfan006 it's about 8cm long, 12thick and 2,3 large

  • my bridge is so high and the strings are very tense i am worried i will break the strings when i tighten the springs

  • I will not happen expecially if you have the piece of wood which holds the bridge in place.

  • You sir; are a genious.

    You deserve the nobel prize.

You are definately the next Da Vinci of music :D

    thankyou very much. (:

  • i have a question, i just bought my first tremelo system guitar, do you have to use the block of wood? can i use a cloth and fold it so it can hold the trem?

    thnx

  • You could use a hard piece of plastic and put a layer of cotton tshirt between the plastic and the finish. in other owrds must be something hard not soft which does not damage the finish. And large also

  • @FruduaTv ok thanks a lot!

  • Mr Frudua your method worked perfectly for me, thank you very much for posting this cause i really had had a lot of trouble with my guitar, i´m an amateur player and this was extremely helpful

    greetings from mexico

  • I am goign to post a video which makes this even much much more simple faster next week. Keep tuned.

  • I already do all the steps but when I lock the notes go flat what the ....

    What should I do????

I also put a new blade and a new screw post in the guitar and when i use it if i do back the strings go sharp and if i do bown (normal) they go flat what the ....

    What shoud I do????.

    TNX.

  • Please reply to question carefully and please wirte me in correct simple school english :) . Do you have a string retainer beyond the nut? Is it low enough so pitch does not change when you lock the nut. In case lower it.

Do you have any sponge of material under the springs in the rear cavity? How did you change the blades?

  • ok.

Do I have a string retainer : answer YES.

The retainer is low yes is low almost parallel so when you lock the retainer is nothing to do.

No i dont have any sponge in the springs or any other material.

I buy a new baseplate for the trem and i replace it.

the other one is new also but i have to try.

    so what could be?????

  • Can you measure the heigh of the studs from the point they come out from the body to their top on both bass and treble side?

  • yes of course.

i write you once is done.

  • You must screw in just until the screws stop. Don't force anyfurther the screws or it'll block the strings. It's hard to explain but probably you just tightened too much the locking nut.

    P.S.: Bellissimo tutorial

  • Nope i don't do that.

    any other idea?????

  • my guitar does a horrible echo in the floyd rose bridge, a friend told me that i need is a sponge to put in the floyd rose con yopu help me how to do that please?? sorry about my englis

  • @soygrandeyfuerte

open up the back plate and use some sort of material to muffle the sound of the tension springs that is where the horrible echo comes from

  • I do not recommend it. That will influece the tremolo ability to return to pitch. The problem occours because the springs move during tremolo use. Most probably where they enter the sustain block. Try taking them out and bending a little the part that inserts into the sustain block so that it forces a bit when you put it inside again. Also check they do not touch the wood inside the tremolo spirngs cavity when you use the tremolo.

  • Thanks man....you're cool for putting up this vid!

  • Hi I have an EDGE Pro 7 trem and i use Ernie Ball Strings gauge 11 - 56 and i use 4 springs in the trem the springs are the yellow ones they are extremly tight and i use your method to set up but 1 problem when i use the trem if i pull the strings down the strings go flat and if i pull the strings up the strings go sharp.

Why is this happend ??? and how should i fix that?????

    Please help.

  • Tell your guitar doctor to replace the pivots and sharpen the knife edges on the bridge plate.

  • I don't have any GUITAR DOCTOR.

and the knife edges are good the trem is NEW.

    any other solution?????

  • If the bridge is prefectly leveled (setup) and balaced between highs and low strings (not too hig on one side), no.

Or the knife edges are worn out or the pivots are worn out or both.

  • 5/5 DUDE YOU ARE A GENIUS!! I WISH YOU WERE MY GUITAR TECH xD

  • why does my ibanez floyd guitar gets out of tune whenever i use my floyd? it is locked but i dont know why it keeps out of proper tuning?

  • i have the same problem man

    rocktile X model

  • Relax. You both probably simply have worn out pivots and bridge plate knives.

  • thx man you are really awesome 5/5 this helped me alot

  • oooh ...but the guitar is new man....

  • @FruduaTv, How do you fix that?

  • This makes everything way way way to complicated.

  • Comment removed

  • perfect, thankyou!

i have battled with this problem so many times.

    so quick and easy.

    you are a saint!!!

  • ok i did this again probably 5 maby 6 times i think it is because the fine tuners have pieces that stick out a bit at different sizes which keeps the wood block from being consistant. but thank you soooooo much I am miles further on fixing my problem

    chao

  • Or maybe you have rubber material in the recessed tremolo cavity?

  • I do. and i followed those steps as well

  • ok i tried this...and i ran into a problem... its realy flat after the wood falls out and i tighten the head locks... it is soo flat that fine tuning doesnt work! what do i do?

  • It should not. Repeat the process make sure you exactly followed each step of the video appropriately. See the video TILL THE END.

    P.S.

  • why is the piece of wood necessary? I'm a noob with Floyd Rose btw, so please don't hate lol

  • Yes it is :)

  • To hold the tremolo in flat position while your releasing the rear bolts.

  • Frudua, can you also make a video on intonating a floyd rose trem? Thx.

  • Will do

  • Great video, very informative and to the point. I'm a lifetime fixed bridge player and just got my first FR. Thanks to you, it's now perfectly set up.

  • So basically, I can change my tuning for example from D standard to drop C with this method you used in this video?

  • Yes you can use whatever kind of strings. Just make sure that truss rod is properly adjusted. and the string gauge is correct. The lower the tuning the higher the string gauge must be.

  • can you help me? my new edge pro tremolo is perfectly parallel to the body but it doesn't keep tune when im using the whammy bar.. It works only to one direction, first my tremolo work perfectly when pressing down the tremolo but when i raise the tremolo bar up the pitch gets high mostly in G, B and E strings.. When i unscrew those spring screws at the back littlebit then tremolo works only when raising tremolo bar up but tuning gets flat when i push it down. Everything is locked tight.Any tips?

  • Yes, the tremolo blades or the pivots or both need sharpening. Do this and everything will go ok.

  • i don't think so cause my pivots and whole tremolo with new knife edges is fine.. I checked those.

  • i also replaced springs and pivots when i bought new tremolo about 2 weeks ago

  • Reply to following questions in simple and most correct english possible:

    1) you mean this is new tremolo? Only two weeks use?

    2) tune the guitar at pitch. Push the tremolo arm down, release the arm. What happens to the tuning?

    3) tune the guitar at pitch. Pull the tremolo arm up, release the arm. What happens to the tuning?

  • 1. Yes, i had old tremolo where was knife edge problems (it had worn out) so i bought new one cause the guitar dealer said that you can't sharpen those edges cause it will effect to tremolo's balance or something like that.

    2. When Tremolo is pushed down and released back it returns to perfect pitch

    3. When pulling the tremolo up and releasing the arm, G B and E Strings go sharp littlebit and E, A and D strings too but not so much.

  • and when loosening screws littlebit behind the back plate then happens that tuning stays perfectly with pull ups but not when pushing the tremolo down.. I can't find any neutral position to that.

  • 1) Do you confirm you also replaced the two pivots with the new ones supplied with the new bridge?

    2) is the new bridge IDENTICAL to old one?

    3) can you please look inside the rear spring cavity and check while moving the tremolo if the sustain block or any part of the tremolo is touching any body point?

  • 1. Yes, i replaced the pivots also with new ones when i bought new tremolo

    2. Bridge is identical to the old one but the color is different, guitar dealer said that it would fit perfectly to my guitar.

    3. No, its not touching to any body point

  • 1) Check if two pivot are at same heigh from the body and refer to me. 2) If they are not try to put them same height and tell me if the problem disappear or the guitar improves some way. Lower side should be some way around 2mm higher than smaler strings side. Remember if you lower one of the pivots to check that they are not locked with the small hex screw inside them.

  • the pivots are at the same height from the body. :S My tremolo doesn't have locking studs

  • im not sure that if the locking nuts is working 100% but the guitar dealer checked it and he said that it's okay but that's the same what he said about my old tremolo that the knife edges was okay and the guitar tuning stability problem was with settings but other guitar dealer said that they have worn out...

  • MM hh if it a Low Pro edge should have loking studs,.

    1) what deos it mean you are not sure if the locking no works properly? Just check if it is firm with the two scrrews that fix it on the neck and that

the 3 hex screws over it are holding the strings firmly.

  • it's not low pro edge, it's edge pro.. The 2 screws which holds the locking nut plate is tight.. those 3 nuts is tight but they are little bit oblique when I'm tightened them up but it should look fine.

  • Oh I thought it was a low pro edge. Mount a low pro edge tremolo so.

  • what do you mean by mounting low pro edge tremolo?

  • To replace this tremolo with LPE

  • lol why? I have brand new good tremolo, the same problem would be also with low pro edge tremolo..

  • i changed strings yesterday and the tuning didn't stay at all when pull ups but no when the guitar stay without playing on the wall 24 hours, it kept tuning better than yesterday.. I didn't notice so much difference when i first pulled whammy up and played open G string and then i pressed whammy all the way down and played again G string, no noticeable difference.. (I don't know if I'm drunk), lets see tomorrow what happens :) Thank you for the help Galeazzo Frudua :)=

  • Caro Galeazzo, ma solo in inglese? Oppure ne hai registrati anche in italiano?

  • Per ora si purtroppo. Il tempo per il doppiaggio è nullo :(

  • do you still need to stretch the strings with this method?

  • You could but it is pretty advanced so I skipped this in this video. I suggest you simply follow the video and not stretch. It will work perfectly. May you lose a very minimum tuning later, it will be so small you will be able to correct it with the fine tuning.

  • i see, does tightening the springs all the way give them the appropriate stretching or something?

  • Great video! where could I possibly buy one of your guitars? They look excellent!

  • tx check fruduadotcom

  • Great video thanks for sharing Frudua. Looking forward to more tips. Have you ever done roadie for travelling band? are eXlusive and Tuscanny your designs?

  • Never been a rodie sorry. yes sir these are some original design and some replicas.

  • dude, thanks for the tips.. it's almost embarrising how long i've used floyds and never knew how to properly zero them or even the logistics of the floyd for zeroing and tuning.

i used to zero it, then just keep tuning it over and over and watch the bridge angle keep coming up over and over again until i end up taking it to a tech.

    thanks.

  • thank you so much man you deserve my sub

  • Frudua is awesome, awesome accent, knows about guitars and generally is awesome

  • Yes expecially the accent ahahaha

  • ITALIAN GUY WIN! Could you make a video on setting the action on a floyd pls? :D

  • Yes ok, I am now shooting two new videos. I think I'll post them sooon.

  • Thanks!

  • Hey Frudua i have a problem with my floyd

  • Which problem?

  • My optives arent the same as the bass note on my guitar, i tryede moving the Sattles on the Floyd, but nothing, would i have to raise up my floyd or what?

  • Put new strings and recheck octaves following the right method (search google)

  • i've tryed that too :(, anything else??

  • does the harmonic match with the fretted note at at 12th fret?

  • no it doesnt

  • Is the action normal or too high?

  • the tremolo is parallel to the body

  • Ok but is the neck relief ok and the action (height of the strings on the frets) normal, low or high?

  • they lock kind of high compared to my Telecaster

  • So it's probably fault of too high strings. Be sure they are new and that the fretb relief is ok. Then lower the action to a normal height. If they still do not match should mean that the tremolo is wrongly placed on the body but it is very rare.

  • man, does this works with lower tunings? such as C????

  • It works with whatever kind of strings gauge but the guitar must be previously setup for that gauge.

  • Just tune not flat but to pitch. when you're at pitch unscrew till you note the note is becoming flat on the tuner. Block and fine tune.

  • shitttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED HELP OKAY MY PROBLEM IS THE PIVOT STUDS WHICH HOLD THE FLOYD IN PLACE I SCREW THEM IN BUT IT DOESN'T HOLD IT IN PLACE AND I DON'T WANT TO STRIP THE SCREWS OR THE INSIDE WHAT DO I DO.

  • Not sure what you eman. You should not touch the

pivots studs if the guitar is alreadys setup.
