  • mmm i remember my fathers 2001 Vw Bug ( Mexican Fuel injected 1600 superbeetle engine) could top 165kmph on the highway, not that fast, but impressive for a car designes more than 50 years ago :)

  • the cars drive not 168! And i now it, i drive every day with 170 off the highway!

  • Translate?

  • nice sleeper beetle

  • I love that when he pulls over he asked him could you tell me how to get out of first gear. Great car and reliable. must had the 911 engine HA

  • It's obv. a sleeper bug for drag racing. (LOL)

  • wow, STUNDENLANG AUTOBAHNFEST.

    heute weiss man:+

AUCH NOCH WENN SIE ÜBER 40 SIND...

  • Ok, I call bullshit. That video had to have been played at 2x the speed. No way a VW Bus goes that fast.

  • @luso2kx you do realize thats KMH right?

  • "Beautifull-reliable" my ass. These were death traps. No heat and not enough power to get out of its own way. NO one ever mentions safety when they praise VWs. Herbie the love bug killed more people then cancer.

  • @dicarlo57 Every car is a death trap. But some cars more than others.

  • @dicarlo57 Killed more people than cancer? WOW that's impossible.

As for them being death traps... WHAT car of the 1950's wasn't a death trap?

You've got to stop looking at them from a modern perspective. Back in the day they were the car to have.

  • @RedRoosterRoad it still is if you ask me

  • translation:

    i will lose him now!

Is this possible? i will show him now! lets see!

oh, excuse me, can you please tell me how i get it out of the first gear?

thank you, this is enough, but in commercials we must go a little bit over the limit. fun must be. yes, my ladies and gentelmen, 180 km/h our vw can't driven

but we can assure you, every vw is highway-compatible. and by his low consumption can he do a long ride. try it out! and go tommorow to one of our vw-dealers.

  • What fiction! those old 36 HP VW's could barley break 60 mph!

  • i have a beatle and at 80km hi is shacking imagina at 150km the pieces would fly apatrt

  • @passaralho23 I don't think the VW was actually going 150, I think the idea is that the bigger car would run out of gas long before the VW, meaning the VW can go further along the Autobaun....basically a tortoise beats the hare premise... I don't speak German, but, im sure that was the point.

  • I think thats known as false advertisement?

  • @herbienbrian I agree...

  • Chick magnet

  • Ich bin begeistert! Wirklich ein originelles Werbevideo!

  • when they slow down to talk, check out the Beetle dash, badass.

  • That speedometer is in kilometers

  • i dun speak german so.. WAT THE HELL DID HE SAY?

  • And it does not look like you speak english either.

    VW FTW!!!

  • Sehr Gut!! Ja Wohl!!!

  • Já tinha Nitro naquela epoca ? rsrs

  • who f*ckin cares how fast they are?

    they're reliable. that's important..

  • Fusca bala !!!

  • Most beautiful car ever built!

  • The peoples car, der fuhrer would be proud!

  • This is in KM not MPH so 120 was about 60 MPH

  • no,,,,,,,,,,,,75

  • lmao 51' vw's top speed was only like 50 mph...25hp engines.

  • i looked it up. the top speed for a 1951 volkswagen beetle is 60 MPH. i bet you'd need a lot of road to go that fast. you were right on the horsepower; 25.

  • yea but mine is fuckin quick.......1/4 mile in 21 secs..lol,,,ok not that fast

  • but in 1953 you could buy an okrasa performance set or a judson (supercharger) wich gave you about 40 hp for the okrasa and 50 hp for the judson,my dad owns a 52 standard with a judson and it reaches about 130 km/h

  • Oh yeah, I've read about those...I bet that gives it a nice boost in power.

  • Great old TV commerical. I'm trying to find this on 16mm film. Let me know if you've got one! HM, eBay since 2002.
