  • Hi, for some reason my video after importing it has no audio, I have a cannon hg20 and my setting is DVCPROHD1080i50, i have premiere pro cs5, can you or anyone please help?? thanks

  • /watch?v=6oFMLXTOpBg

  • can i ask you something? what is the difference with 32bit and 64bit

  • @iAmHolyStupid 32 bits use only 3gb of ram from your pc (if you have installed 8gb it will use only 3) and 64 bits use all the memory available and 64 bits move a little faster in some programs

  • I really appreciate your videos! They are very helpful. However, I've encountered a problem... I just upgraded to CS5 and can no longer browse the files from the camera (Canon XA10) as I used to with CS4... Any ideas?

  • show me some transitions , mix some videos and put some effects , and then will be a great video . You show me what ?

  • I only have a kodak C183 :( help.

  • can it support files from any cam?(digital cam)??

  • @sayedalmodarrasie I love Final cut and Premiere, but vegas is very easier to learn (for me.)

  • final cut pro x is making me like adobe premiere more and more

  • more action... less talking

  • when i import a mts file it say that has a compresion error :/

  • doe's this support 32 bit systems ?

  • Yes -

    Vista 32 & 64, WinXP, WIn7 32 & 64 (Mac 10.5.8 & 10.6x)

Only CS5 & 5.5 and higher will require 64 bit

  • @dhelmly thanks mate iv got it now :)

  • @xGOLBORNEx Yes, CS5 doesn't. I found this out the hard way, haha.

  • I try to import my wav files that play properly on VLC and they give me "unsupported format or damaged file" shit. what the fuck is this????

  • Hi, I have a sony HDR SR10 camcorder that records in AVC HD format. I use the sony picture motion browser to import my footage to my PC's harddrive. Then I use Adobe CS4 to build my project from those files. Yet, when I add my video files to the timeline, they are often laggy and it makes editing really hard to do. I have a 3GHz processor with 3.25 GB of RAM. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can fix my problem? Thankyou.

  • I would highly recommend upgrading to Win 7 64bit & CS5. With this combo, AVCHD is very smooth, even with titles and effects. The main issue is the memory addressing in 32bit. Your processor is more than fast enough. Upgrade to 8GB RAM when you get a chance - it will really help when you are multiple things.

  • @dhelmly could you please advise me, I have panasonic hdc sd9 which records in avchd and have acer laptop with dual core 2.0 and 4gb ram and i run win xp 32 bit and i wasnt able to edit raw footage until sony vegas 10 pro came out, now it still lags but at least i am able to work. The question then is if i upgrade to win 7 64 bit and premiere cs5 will this make my edditing even better ? p.s. before i had win 7 32 bit and sony vegas 9 pro and it was lagging way more.

  • nice video

  • I can't drag video to the timeline bar. The timeline has nothing reacted. what i doing wrong&

  • YOW... DIS IS DOO DOO!

  • what is a better format, mkv or avchd?

  • fuck, cs3 doesn't have AVCHD

  • is this good for editing like videos.... I mean adjusting brightness, colour etc. or too advanced complicated for such simple tasks?

  • What Is Your Machine?

  • i use premiere pro cs3 wil i be able to use avchd , if not, can i just convert the files?

  • Great start!

  • Делаю видео монтаж на заказ.Пишите вконтакте.мой id98384922.

  • so Adobe Premiere Pro or sony vegas?

  • anyone whos an expert in this programme, could you see if you can help me with my issue? go through my channel to find the video, as i cant seem to post the link

  • LOL DH get it, great vid aswell.

  • the best intro seen on my live? xDD!!!!!!!

  • sry but Sony Vegas is easier to handle with I think also its doesnt f u c k up your PC that hard in my opinon

but if you like adobe use it

  • so AVCHD files play straight off the card?....i dont have to format them to .mov files or anything???

  • @PLLShayMitchFans plays fine in VLC and Windows Media Player, so yeah, straight off the card (or hard drive if that's what the camera stores to)

  • @MASSIF101 awesome..but im having some issues ....can you help me? ...mine jitters on playback in adobe premiere ....and then on export - it looks blurry ;(

    thanks ;)

  • @PLLShayMitchFans lol I had that too, I can't remember what I did in CS4 but I use CS5 now and its much better, the jitteryness is still sometimes there in playback, but its fine on export.

  • why dont i have the avchd preset thing like you do?

  • very helpful thanks

  • Hey, i've just bought a new video camera that films in AVCH/1080P 50fps

And i just wonder how premiere is when playing a preview of the 1080p 50fps video? Sony vegas is horrible, can't even play it smoothly wich makes it hard to edit :(

  • hi, i've got a toshiba camileo s10, when I try to edit my videos in adobe premiere pro cs4 the program most of the time doesn't load the sound and the video is not playing at a normal speed. My camera shoots AVCHD video. Videos like from my phone mp4 or 3gp work fine

  • Sounds like you might be using the trial version. The trial versions can;t edit MPEG video due to license restrictions from the MPEG LA group which owns the MPEG spec. CS4 and better CS5 so be able to edit these files with no problem. Here's a better video fro that camera.

    youtube.com/watch?v=znZ3KQSdKnM&feature=related

  • @bpkvlseLPBP you need to the avchd preset

  • fuck your first 2 min you only speak about you fuck garbage canon camera

  • i fucking love the introoo

  • I really wish you could have supported 32bit processors, my pc is plenty fast and would have had no problem running it. CS5 that is...

  • I really wish you could have supported 32bit processors, my pc is plenty fast and would have had no problem running it.

  • Why is my AVCHD video out of sync with the audio on CS4?

  • Could be a few things. Is the video out of sync after you export it?(try Exporting H264 >YouTube HD) or when you are previewing? Does your camera do 5.1 audio and if so, are you working in 5.1 in Premiere? You also need fast harddrives (7200 RPM) when working with AVCHD

  • Does anyone know how to fix viewing problems with AVI files in AP CS4? I think it has something to do with Codecs but, i dont know how to install them or where to get the ones i need. G-Spot software says i am having problems with MainConcept (Adobe2) MPEG Video Encoder. Please help if you know of solutions.

  • I downloaded the testversion of after effects cs5 and it is still not working with AVCHD. Or is the support only in the fullversion?

  • hi, i have a problem wih after effects cs4. I have a sony hdr cx505 ve and it records the videos in avchd, but i can't put the videos in after effects, because it says that it dosen't support this type, how can i put it in after effetcs without compress?

  • We have added support for AVCHD in CS5. It works amazing. Cs4 did not hav the components to support AVCHD

  • Hi, Can I change the color of the video by Adobe Premiere? Or I have to use Adobe After Effect to change the color of the video? I want to change the video to the color that many professional video clips using now. Am I possible to do it with Sony HDR-XR550V by Adobe Premiere and After Effect?

  • You can try 3 Way Color correction to see if it gives you the effect you want.

  • Great Video Dheimly! Do you know how I would extract just the vocals from an audio clip? It has background music and I want to add a different song, but use the same extract the vocals from the clip. How should I approach this? Thanks!

  • Depending on how it was recorded, you can use Adobe Audition 3 and use Center Channel Channel extraction. This does not work with MP3 or other heavily compressed formats. You can use AIFF. Again, it's completely dependent on how it was recorded.

  • I've got a Canon Vixia HF200. Can someone recommend the best settings for sequence presets and exporting for me? For some reason the settings i've been using aren't working out so well. Thanks

  • If you are using CS4 or CS5 then choose AVCHD >1080i>1080i30 (60) .Make sure your camera is set to 1920x1080 and not 1440x1080 (Anamorphic) if you already shot your video and you used 1440, then choose AVCHD >1080i>1080i30 (60) Anamorphic. Hope this helps. BTW - CS5 is much better at playing back AVCHD (very smooth) due to the new 64 bit Mercury Engine.

  • @dhelmly Thanks a bunch man, i really appreciate the help. i was using 1080p settings. hopefully these settings will work. I take it that if i shoot in 24 fps than i choose 1080i24 instead of 1080i30. i didn't even know you could shoot anamorphic with the hf200 lol

  • can u add subtitles or would u use encore??because I want subtitles, but I can add them when I want into encore for settings.eg.dvd disc/click settings/subtitles on is this possible?

  • does it take a monster computer to edit these format .

  • It does with CS4 to edit in high quality. CS4 will give perfect renders and exports. With Cs5 and Win 7 64 or Mac 10.5.8-10.6 you get much better playback because of the new 64 bit playback engine. It's much smoother on slower computers. With fast computers , you can do multiple layers of videos.

  • Anyone know how to make the "beat impact" video effect found in the SNL short called "Jizz In My Pants" with either premiere of after effects?

  • YouTube said HD videos started December 08 and this is October 08 :) just sayin

  • @FreshTuber it's October 06 to be more correct

  • @iidunno1000 But youtube didnt start having 16:3 videos until just 2 years ago. Not 2006. Try finding me a HD video from 2006 than ill believe u. But for now i dont.

  • @FreshTuber nvm i was saying the day not year i thought you were say day too sorry

  • What program would you use for the short "DAV Tech Table" sequence at the start?

  • do you need the have the usb adaptor for the sd card or can you just plug it in PLEASE HELP

  • If your computer had an SD slot as many do, you don;t need the USB adapter. SOme Cameras will mount the SD card if you connect a USB cable to the camera. The connection just needs to be a fast USB2.0 connection

  • Just something someone else has a problem with. CS4, Panasonic AVCHD, after exporting the footage, it seems to have duplicated frames, audio is off sync, etc. So what could have caused this? And re-starting the software, cleaning the media cache doesn´t fix it

  • Sounds like a bad rendered frames. Try deleting rendered frames (under one of menues)

  • Premiere Pro CS4 looks a lot like After Effects CS4. It used to have a greyish look to it, which personally I think looks a little better when you're editing as you can see things a little better. I'm colour confused, so it's very hard to distinguish different colours on this new version.

  • Noob question: Is there any difference between AVCHD and AVCHD Lite in terms of editing?

  • AVCHD is basically a Blueray stream. We can handle all AVCHD streams. Just a word on CS5 - it's much faster than CS4 at editing AVCHD, the 64 bit makes the difference.

  • apparently after recording for a long time with avchd it cuts one mts file and continues recording a new file and oing this gives it an audio glitch

  • Ive got this and havent used it..

Whats better Vegas 8 or this.. I use vegas 8 alot

  • The new CS5 handles AVCHD amazing

  • Where can i find a tutorial for putting 2 audio language options and linking them to the menu language options, and letting the viewer to choose a subtitle ?

  • I've got Premier Pro cs4 but no AVCHD preset O.o

  • If you downloaded the trial version it does not support AVCHD or any other MPEG editing. The full version is required.

  • Super, verry good men i like your videos verry much,i have qustion for you sir ?ware can i download som more like this" Additive Dissolve" becose is my favorite effeckt. i know alredy the existing (Cross Dissolve transition) to premiere pro cs4"but my qustion is ware can i get more like this" Additive Dissolve"for free??? or how to make one is there a way oround??

  • when i put my video in the timeline and play it, it jus lags but the audio is perfect can u help me? tell me what s wrong

  • Check your CPU usage - are they maxed out?

  • @dhelmly Where do i find the CPU usage and what do i have to do?

  • If on Windows - Press Control+Alt+Del at the same time to bring up the Task Manager. Go to Processes and you should see a graph in real time. Look for an option on one of the menus to set the Task Manager on top. Go back to Premiere and play the timeline. If your processers hit 100 for longer than 4 seconds you will studder. In CS5 with a 64 bit OS, AVCHD playback is much better over all on machines that had issues in CS4. It gets announced April 12th 2010.

  • Does this program support M2TS Files from my HD PVR

  • yes, we support M2TS files in the full version

  • When my video loads up in the source window, it is super laggy. Almost impossible to edit with. How can i fix this? Audio remains perfect. But the video is UBER choppy. Help?

  • sounds like you CPUs are maxed out. Look at the Task Manager and your processors when you play video.

  • can you import AV1?

  • you can import most AVI files. On Mac we only support a few types like DV.

  • @dhelmly ohhh okay thank you

  • My AMD Phenom and ECS Workstation, works great with LOTS OF AVCHD Files...yo

    :)

  • someone plz help me

i put a video from my iphone 3gs on to premiere for editing and upload it to youtube but everytime i export it the video is only the size of a tiny square

can some 1 tell me the correct settings for a bigger screen size

  • Can you import MPEG files directly into the CS4 format?

  • Yes. You need the full version. The trial version does not support any MPEG formats due to license restrictions.

  • You said in the beginning you'd show us how to check whether or not videos were shot in Anamorphic or not.

    I have a Sony HDR-TG5V

    Format : HD: MPEG4 AVC/H.264 SD: MPEG2

    35mm Equivalent : 53 - 621mm (4:3 Camera Mode), 43 - 507mm (16:9 Camera Mode)

    Aperture : F 1.8-2.3

    Pixel Gross : 2360K

    Video Actual : 1430K Pixels (16:9) 1080K Pixels (4:3)

    Video Resolution : 1920 x 1080

Any ideas whether it's Anamorphic or Square?

    Thank you!

  • Anamorphic cameras will typically shot in 1440x1080. Camera like your is square Pixel. 1920x1080.

  • @dhelmly

Thanks for the response <3 u

  • I use Adobe Premiere Element 8 in editing my AVCHD videos (from Canon HF S10). What setting should I use to avoid the jumpy footage at the timeline? I'm from southern california (NTSC): - Full HD 1080i 30

    - Full HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel

    - HD 1080i 30

    - HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel

    PLEASE HELP. THANKS.

  • Thanks this is great but I'm having some trouble! I have a Sony Sr11 60gb HD Camcorder that's AVCHD and I'm pretty sure I'm selecting the right format in the beginning (the same one you pick in this video) but my video skips and freezes. What do I need to change to make it stop doing that?

  • wow this is really fluid.... I wonder how did he exported the video... anyway, I've avchd videos of 1440 x1080, what should I select at the very beginning?????

  • Anamorphic. Just make sure you're picking the correct frame rate. If you're North America pick 60i (29.97)

  • Thank you very much!!

  • Hi lilte help here I got one full HD cam .... what preset do I need to pick whenever I start a new project?? I pick HDV format and then avchd ... 1080i25 (50i)anamo.... is this correct...pls answer me....

  • You choose 25 or 50i if you shoot in PAL(Europe). If you are in North America/Japan you choose 29.97 or 60i

    What type of camera?

  • Hey thanx for ure reply

it is SANYO Full HD VPC-FH1 so I guess I will add 25 or 50i as my cam is pal version but one more question when I want to export what should I take for the best quality and so I can add to youtube....

  • Yes, AVCHD 1920x1080 50i should be correct. it should not redline.

  • When i click play if plays but then starts to lag Help

  • @iProFanboy It's rendering.

  • "watch my edit video i did for just dance in my chanell. its really cool .""

  • i also can't get the avchd preset to show up, it only comes up with dv presets, what is wrong there?

  • sounds like you might be using the trial version - no MPEG support due to License restrictions from the MPEG group.

  • Not quite sure how I shot the video in my camera, which is in AVCHD format the author talks about a quick way of how to double check the video if its either shot in full HD or anamorphic can somebody please direct me to the tutorial on this or provide some advice, camera used "panasonic HDC-SD10" much appreciated.

  • so... I'm having problems with my Digicam... its a Sony DSC T-700... and it records 640 x 480 MPEG-1..... so what preset do I need to pick whenever I start a new project?? I pick DV - NTSC/ widescreen 48kHz... and I have to convert my footages to MPEG-1 in a anyvideo converter so that when I published my video... it doesn't jitter... I think what caused it is the fps.... I don't know.... sooo what preset do I need to select without converting my footage??

  • Just use a Desktop preset and change the size and frame to match your footage. The easiest way is to pick the Ipod under mobile and devices and then goto the General tab to change.

  • cool. you were at annapolis!

  • Finally, I've figured out that exporting using H264/YouTubeHD is the way to do this for web viewing. Is there a way to eliminate the black bars on all 4 sides of the video when you upload to YouTube? I'm using AVCHD video from Canon HF20 shot in 1980x1080i.

  • Oops I meant 1920x1080i.

Also, what are the best export settings for DVD archiving of this video?

  • are you using the AVCHD 1920x1080 preset?

  • yes. Shouldn't I be?

  • Yes - just wanted to make sure.reply with a link to your video so I can see your final output.

  • The link is either delayed in cyberspace or maybe they won't let you post a live link in a comment?? Can you try searching, or go to my page. The video in question is 'June with Nana - H264 YT'. There's another one called 'June with Nana - January 4, 2009' that I exported/uploaded as an .avi file...testing different methods (cont)

  • ...(cont) The .avi works it's just a huge file (256MB) and takes forever to export and then forever to upload. I did it as a .mov file first (also 256MB) and the audio uploaded but not the video - all you saw was black. The H264 file is a MPEG4 and only 6.5MB, which is great and small and quick.

  • We added Youtube HD in the 4.1 update. You need to use 4.1 or higher. Current release is 4.2.1

  • Makes sense. So, I just installed all available updates for PP CS4 thru 4.2.1, and now the video is not playing in either the Source window or the Program window (audio is playing fine).

I tried an export though, and the YouTube Widescreen HD preset is there now, and automatically sets the output to 1280x720. And the video shows up in the output MPEG-4, choppy, but it's there. Help!

  • For some reason the video says it's 480P. Did you use YouTube HD as the preset when you exported? Make sure your video size is 1280x720 in the Exporter window. Make sure you can see the Video tab in the exporter (the default is Simple Mode, you need advanced mode)

  • Thanks for sticking with me thru this. What does the 480P mean?

I used YouTube as the Preset - YouTube HD is not showing up as an option. The default frame size comes up as 320x240. I tried to change the output dimensions to 1280x720, but it wouldn't let me go higher than 672x499 - says "Invalid framesize/framerate for this Level. Please lower the Frame Dimensions, Frame Rate, or increase the profile and level and try again." The default frame rate is showing as 30. Ideas?

  • are you using the trial version of Premiere Pro CS4? If so, the trial version does not support MPEG editing due to license restrictions.

  • thank you for the video. . . how about amv video came form ipods ? is it posible to use this program?

  • Yes - Ipod video is easy to edit. Just look at the frame size and use Desktop editing mode. Look for my video on editing video with the Apple iPhone 3GS

  • So 2 GB of ram isn't a good idea is it? I just want to learn how to use the program so bad!

  • 2GB will work OK to learn the basics.

  • Hello, thanks for your video. I am having a problem importing a bunch of AVCHD clips from my panasonic HD camera. Is there a limit to how much CS4 can handle? It seems like my PC freezes when imported, but I need all those clips to cut in and out to make a full video. What do you recommend to do? If I use the media browser and view and cut from there will it still try to render the WHOLE AVCHD clip or just the in and out points? Thanks!

  • No real limit but RAM may be your issue. I recommend WIn 7 64/Vista64 or OSX 10.5/10/6 with minimum 4GB RAM (8 is better)

  • I have a Quad Core with 6GB of RAM :( I think I am getting it to work now. I have been just using the media browser and making my cut in and out points and dragging it into the timeline. So far so good.

    Thanks again for your video.

  • When editing with AVCHD on cs4 on a mac how smooth does the video flow because rite now i have a hp and premier elemts 7 and it does not flow well at all

  • Much better on CS4 as we use a different importer. If you are running a 64 OS (10.6 or Win 7 64) I would advise you to wait for next release which is 64 bit only. I'm running several layers of AVCHD in RT with out issues. Take a look at the SneakPeek video for more info.

  • thankyou just wondering currently after i put the clips from my camera to my desktop they are in the unviewable m2t or mt2 i i forget. i can watch it in the editor. ia there a simple way to view the clips on the desktop

  • most people either import back into Premiere Pro or use VLC, a free video util (works great)

  • Thankyou for your help it seems that watching and organizing these clips on cs4 is pretty simple so i wont really be neding to convert the footage down the road when i get cs4

  • @Jimboslice123456

This doesn't really answer your question, but if your video doesn't need editing, you can upload the .m2t files directly to YouTube with *unbelievable* clarity. It's not listed as a supported format in the help section, but YouTube does take it. I've been trying to duplicate that clarity with one of the encoded formats in Adobe Premiere Pro like .mov, .avi. mpeg2 and .flv and haven't come up with a solution yet.

  • what did you use to make that intro?

    it look very awsome.

  • thanks. After Effects, Premiere Pro , Illustrator, Maxon Cinema 4D for the 3D.

  • 0.o that's alot of software!!!

    but thanks anyway!

  • Hi, when I use "replace with AE comp" option, then apply effects to the video in AE.the playback of that part in Pr gets pretty choppy, even though is near real-time in AE. Can that AE comp be somehow rendered, it has that yellow line on top.

    thanks

  • You'll need a lot of RAM to pull off preview of HD in DynamicLink with AVCHD. Make sure you RAM preview in AE and then try playback in Prem Pro. With CS"Next" and 64 bit AVCHD is much smoother with many processors. Check out the SneakPeek video.

  • Dear Mr. Helmly,

Thanks so much for all your help. Do you have advice about converters? I am editing with Adobe cs4 on a mac and trying to use some wmv files for my project (I am mostly using my own footage shot in AVCHD). I tried converting the wmv files with LEAW Mac Video Converter but when I go to use the files I converted to avi, Adobe gives me an error message and says 'unsupported compression in file'. What is your suggestion? Thanks very much. Lillie

  • The Mac has never done HD AVI or WMV very easy. Telestream has the best conversion tools for this.

  • Thanks! I just looked up the Telestream, and I can't seem to find a file converter option. I see an encoder option, but this seems to be for converting ready made footage for different viewing options.

I have the whole adobe CS4 suite. I have been trying to figure out if Adobe Encoder could help me convert files, but haven't been able to figure that out either.

  • BTW, I ended up figuring out the Telestream, and did purchase what I needed, and it's working great. Thanks!

I wonder if you can suggest which software works best for filming your screen. I need to add some things to my project straight from my screen. I suppose you will know what works best, as you film all these great tutorials. I can't figure out if Adobe has this feature already. Could you comment? Thanks!

  • Dear Mr. Helmly,

    Your posts are truly great!

I already got all my videos edited using a different program, but I was wondering if it was possible to create a DVD similar to a commercial one: with scene selection, multiple menus, etc using this program? a) if so, do you have a post on how to do it?

    b) If not, any program I could use to do that?

    Kind regards,

  • i use sony DVD architect if that helps. it does all of what you listed plus more.

  • Dear Helmly,

Can you please assist me on this problem, when i bring any videos or pictures to Pr i brings up a red tint kind of thing while editing, but if i render the video it appears normal, what could that be?

    Thanks

  • Sounds like your graphics card driver. Try uninstalling from the COntrol Panel (Add remove) first. Then look an updated version on their website (nvidia or ATI)

  • Every adobe product is outstanding. World would not be the same without Adobe. I love it.
