@TheBettaApprentice Hi, There's a whole page with info about growing broms as epiphytes on my website. Youtube won't let me post the link, so go to my website - bromeliads.co.nz then click 'information' then 'Epiphtes - the third dimension'
If you still have any questions after that, just let me know.
@ellagirlxx1969 I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia - very similar climate. You can grow pups all year, but they'll be more difficult/slower over winter. If she's buying pups from warmer areas I'd suggest she avoids planting in winter.
The fertiliser I'm using here is Plantacote slow release NPK 14:8:15. But any slow release with a high K value is suitable. For foliage broms I use this when potting to encourage big strong plants, but then don't apply any additional food so they grow 'harder' and produce strong leaf colours as they mature. I don't use any fertiliser on my Billbergias. I hope this helps. Cheers, Todd
@KatzGT There aren't any set rules - you can pot them separately, or in communal pots, or attach them to trees, or just leave them on the mother plant to grow as a clump. It's entirely up to you.
@sweetpeasgf Hi, it can vary depending on the type of brom and your growing conditions, but most take about 12-18 months from pup to maturity. Cheers, Todd
@christine8990 The potting mix I'm using here is a blend of peat, fine pine bark and pumice - although the video compression makes it look like soil. Any free-draining mix is good, including orchid mix or coco fibre (coir). Cheers, Todd
thanks for the videos so far they are very helpfull! i have a pup and im going to harvest it today, but i was wondering i use "miracle gro" fertilizer. is that good? thanks again!

The Nitrogen level in that is too high for most broms, it will promote a lot of green growth. I'd suggest using a liquid orchid food at quarter strength once a month. Cheers, Todd

Water the whole plant until the centre and leaf wells are full of water - easiest with a watering can. The exception being Tillandsias which prefer a light misting. Cheers, Todd

Any free-draining mix is good, including orchid mix or coco fibre (coir). I don't tend to repot plants, but rather remove offsets and plant them up into new pots. Avoid fertilisers high in Nitrogen. Ideally the K value should be higher than the N (N-P-K will be listed on the pack). I hope this helps. Cheers, Todd :-)
Loved your video, with the birds and music in the background. I was trying to find out what kind of soil to use, and how often to repot old plants, if ever. I thought bromeliads used something like an orchid soil, but yours looks like regular soil with some small stones. My plants are in the original plastic pots they came in and I've never fertilized. Had them several years & was afraid to mess up a good thing, as they do well, but never flower. Can I use any time release flowering plant food?
Now, if I wanted to have my pups epiphyte and growing on a piece of cork bark or something, what would I then do?

My bromeliad has 5 pups. Do I always need to plant each pup in separate pots?

i noticed there are alot of pebbles in your soil... Are you using native soil or is that a special mixture?

Hi, I'm not familiar with that brand. Is it a liquid or slow release, and what is the NPK ratio (should be printed on it). Cheers, Todd
