I bought this on vinyl as a teenager and still have it. I had already bought the Band Aid single from the previous Christmas (1984) and this came out very early in the New Year (1985). I remember Gay Byrne introducing this video in its entirety on the Late Late back then. Didn't see it again until Reelin' In The Years showed this snippet.
Who remembers these people now? I'm not sure I recognise all of the singers but I'll have a go. Corrections welcome. In order of appearance I think they are: Paul Cleary (The Blades) Gaye Woods (Auto Da Fe) Christy Moore Twink (Adele King) Ray Lynam ? Maxi (Irene McCoubrey) Two girls with 80s mullets - not a clue Red Hurley Flo McSweeney Red Head in the choir in close up is Linda Martin Did I see a young Pat Kenny in the crowd???
Aileen Moran and Jenny Newman are the 2 girls who sing 'what do you say'. The guitarist is Greg Boland, drummer Paul Mc Ateer, Sax Carl Geraghty, producer Bill Whelan. Later in the track Dave King sings 'don't throw your pennies down the wishing well".
Mary Black is standing behind Linda Martin and Maura O' Connell is standing beside Maxi. And yes that is a young Pat Kenny. Johnny Fean ( Horslips) is standing beside Dave King (Fastway)
The 2 'mullet' girls Aileen amd Jenny were in 'Toy with Rhythm' with Flo Mc Sweeny. There are a few I don't know also present. Probably studio personnel on the day.
