He obviously cheated, but I know some of it is possible, you just need luck. Jumping at enemies from the side can actually kill them. I've done it plenty of times, and it actually helps. You just gotta make sure it's at the right angle.

well it was originally made for the famicom disk system (fds) in japan, but it was never released for any other systems in the US. however, you can play it on an emulator by downloading it to your computer

In 8-4, the underwater area... Maybe the dangers there aren't real, I don't know, but it looks very suspicious to me. Several other instances throughout the video, but I was willing to chalk those up to simply collision inaccuracies in the game's code. But The underwater area in world 8-4 says that either there was some kind of cheat going on there or the developers intended for the dangers to be fake.
