  • They were all called heavy metal bands back in the seventies flyingmachine.

Just metal got heavier and heavier as years went by, now they seem like rock bands.

  • what a great guy he was ; (

  • since when the hell is ac/dc, scorpions, deep purple or led zeppelin heavy metal?.. more like hard rock

  • @badoshka haha yeah I kinda agree with you. I guess he just didn't want to mention Sabbath ^^, besides the definitions of hard rock and heavy metal are often quite subjective so...

  • @badoshka I've always thought that those bands represented the gray area between Rock and Metal.....but if Dio says it is so, then it is so.

  • acdc heavy metal?

  • What is George Michael doing in the background ?

    RIP metal god

  • RIP Ronnie James Dio. Your music and magical voice will live on forever...

  • Oh mann,,, playing "big country" while Ronnie was there ? ? ? Bad taste, of course.

  • what a baddass

  • @TheInbornMechanics Good analysis ! for a so biggest FAN than me it's always hard to see a man who don't know the music of RONNIE with questions on his paper with bad décor behind my GOD !

  • Dio's a metal god, but he's always a gentleman as well; always so cool. I find it hard to believe that he's gone...

  • What an articulate, intelligent guy he was.

  • Dio was a great singer of hard-rock and very sincere anв polite person! R.I.P., Dio!

  • he's sooo cute here :))

  • Hard to belive he is dead...

  • Sounds really evil! What a great guy... DIO forever! Thanks for the great roadtrips, bonfires, and mind expansion, etc... just can't imagine metal without you...you set the standard!

  • Ronnie seemed like a pretty nice cool guy, but ACDC? Uggg.

  • Wow! Dio looks so young on here.

  • Dio is a very respectful and influential person. Man I wish I could've met him, although I'm only 16. but what really pissed me off is when after he died, Westboro Baptist Church decided to protest his funeral calling him a satanist. Tell me one song that was satanic. Can't name any at all can't you? Exactly. Fuck you Fred Phelps, just go to Hell where you belong. Dio was an inspirational guy,

  • Wish there was more people in rock like him....unfortunately...there never will be again :(

  • He said Led Zeppelin! Although they really weren't metal.

  • He sure looked younger there.

  • What a shitty crowd...they hate AC/DC!

  • Great interview.

  • Such a true Gent.

  • the interviewer thinks he looks like don from miami vice lol

  • Ronnie was so polite. Interviewer didn't let him speak.

  • I saw this, then went to the gig at the Entertainment Centre. 1986, I was 17. You are such a legend for putting this up !

  • My my, Mr. Dio was terribly attractive around this time, I haven't noticed before.

He was indeed a great man, rest in peace.

  • Ronnie was a little Hottie in his day. Miss him so much.

  • so good to see and hear Ronnie when he was healthy

  • Ronnie always was so handsome.......

  • wow I'm a huge Dio fan, and I didn't know there was an album called Intermission......RIP RJD. :(

  • What a wonderful person!!! What a gentleman!!! The best singer, ever! R.I.P

  • Handsome Guy Ronnie! :) Wish he was still alive. Ii Love You Ronnie! :) Rest In Peace! \m/

  • what year is this?

  • @Liz15thyr

Around 1986....Intermission was the current album & Sacred Heart was the previous release, at the time.

  • R.I.P DIO

  • Thanks for that. I didn't see it way back then.

I guess VCR's weren't around in Oz when Purple Mk IV were on Sound Unlimited. As I recall, Donnie interviewed Ian Paice. One thing I do remember of that show was the Blackmore image from the back cover of Made In Japan as they went to and returned from each ad break, despite Ritchie no longer being part of the band. That would be a great one to see again! I was 13 at the time and excited that Purple were in town (didn't see them though).

  • I still remember buying DIO records at this time.

  • little fragile Angel

  • Damn stomach cancer to hell! I watched my Grandmother die of this shit! Truly a horriblie slow death. Rest in Peace Grandma, RIP DIO.

  • See you on the other side Ronnie.

  • 12 dollars for a ticket??? WOw, thats cheap!

  • rip: i did a tribute on my channel

  • Truly a great singer, his voice just grabs you and never lets go...God bless you DIO

  • RIP ,i never thought i would be this sad..........................

i really love you ronnie james dio

if it was only a kidney id give you 1 of mine .

    MISS YOU SO MUCH ALREADY

  • Wow, can't believe this is on here! That's me in the audience (front row, second from the right, black T-shirt) with a couple of mates (the two dudes next to me in denim jackets).

Us metal heads got to meet and talk with Dio after the interview then we went to the concert that night. Great memories!

Rest in Peace, Ronnie James Dio.

  • @neckshredder1 That's really awesome!

  • @HelloweenAndi Yeah, he was a true gentleman to us fans. \m/

I'll tell you something else interesting that you won't see in this interview coz it happened off air during an ad break. When Donnie played Love Is All, Dio seemed completely fascinated by it. When Donnie asked why, Dio said he'd never had the opportunity to see the film clip before. Gives you some idea of how busy the life of a full-time rocker must be. ;-)

  • Btw, thanks to 969prodromos for uploading this blast from my past. I dunno where you got hold of this from and in such good quality too after all these years but you rock mate! :-D

  • @neckshredder1 Thank you for sharing this with us all. :) In my eyes, Ronnie was always the most dedicated musician and frontman, the kindest person ever, extremely professional and my all-time number one vocalist. Your memory of him only confirms my opinion. :) I was going to see Heaven and Hell this July but then had to return the ticket when the tour was cancelled. I was so excited to se Mr.Dio live on stage but I guess I'll have to wait till we meet on the other side of the Rainbow. :)

  • @HelloweenAndi True words well spoken. : )

  • @neckshredder1...long time PP this is alan charlton look me up on fb steve and pete are on my list

  • @eyelessal Far out man, how amazing is it that this vid is here showing you, Steve and me at the Dio interview, let alone you spotting my comment as well. Wow dude!

  • @neckshredder1 damn took me long enough to reply yeah this was a special day in our lives never to be forgotten would be great to have a chat sometime mate RIP the mighty RJ Dio

  • @eyelessal Haha, no worries mate. Even though it was Craig Goldy on guitar at the concert instead of Vivian Campbell (that upset me a bit), we still experienced the awesome power of Dio belting out his best songs.

  • @neckshredder1

    you luck b*****d!

Dio was a fantastic artist and just a great guy and inspiration to us all.

RIP man on the silver mountain

  • @fadgealot I was lucky, mate. I had no idea that my mates had planned this part of our day and booked a spot for me. That morning when they said it was time to go and meet Dio, I was like, don't bullshit me!

  • RIP Dio :'(

    THou shalt be greatly missed.

  • Rest in Peace master dio

  • Ronnie Has passed away today.

  • Nice interview, two really cool guys.

  • i'm not gay but damn dio looks good here aha

  • @Augenatic Indeed! He looks really young for his age (44) Great eyes :)

  • Why did he disagree with DP's reformation? Perfect Strangers was a great album.

  • donniej12, Ronnie was 44 during this interview. The album Donnie is holding was released in 1986. Dio was born in 1942.

  • damn dio was hella young

  • Dio was never young.. LOL. He was in his late 40's here!

Was trying to upload it for a while & finally got it up, minus the music video clips.

  • Wow that was an amazing interview. I am glad the host gave Ronnie the freedom to answer questions in full. The audience was respectful and showed great joy at ronnie being down under. It must be a host's dream to have had the king of rock n roll on there show. Thanks you for uploading and sharing
