  • I'm likin' this tune - nicely done. I like the video too! Cool that you play sax also!

  • @lisageeandthe422 Thanks for listening! My videos aren't as slick as yours, but I try to have some fun with it. Rock on!

  • The lyrics are a masterpiece, FOG. I don't think I've heard more creative use of language anywhere. Words riding wordward on rock rocking rockward!

  • @SubstituteForTalent Thanks for listening and the cool comment. I may swipe that for the next tune.

  • Dude there's some words in there went right over ma head lol. Kinda ground hog day and hear we go again same shit different day thing am thinkin. Loved it man oh and if a had a bigger cupboard that's what a would like it to look like. Cheers man a joy

  • @tanglewoodtw400n Thanks for listening! I was kind of playing with language with this one. First off I wanted to use some alliteration (I bet that sent you back to your dictionary too lol) and then I threw the thesaurus at it.

  • Hi Dan,

Great original track my friend, the intro is cool with the drums and lead and bass in unison, very neat!!

Great feel to the track with awesome lyrics, nice arrangement.

    Best wishes

    Mark :)

  • I have been wondering what would happen if all the worker drones stayed home on the SAME day? Would the Grinders lose a little of their grip around our necks?????????

Great tune, awesome sentiment - the kind we should be spreading as artists in a dark time. And of course, the lyrics are epic...really!

  • EXCELLENT lyrics man!!!!! Very friggin' cool song and the video editing is amazing too! Thumbs up! Rock on brother. -Tony

  • @ROCKBANDVonAmp Thanks for checking it out, Tony; I appreciate it. I kind of threw the thesaurus at the lyrics. I got some new video software for Christmas and I'm just starting to figure it out.

  • @dmio2 Bravo man. Yeah, I look things up when I'm writing too. The way you put all of it together in your song is really impressive. That's cool about your new software. It always seems like we're upgrading on something - video equipment, software, and the biggest thing of all... music equipment! The list never ends does it!!? -Tony

  • a great production...mucho enjoyed the tune....nice to sneak in the pooches, luv animals....some folks think I am one...usually only after too many beers...thumbs up...peace

  • @TinyApe Thanks for checking it out! Looking forward to your next tune. Yeah, dogs have a special energy; they save me really.

  • HAHA sounds good! Love the sax solo hahha super sweet! I dunno why you don't double track your vocals to beef em' up a bit in places?

    Anyway, enjoyed as always!

  • @Babungus Thanks for listening! The double tracking it a good idea. At times I've doubled the vocals in octives.

  • cool clip of the drums at the start, clever way to get the rhythm for the song. Is that a clip from another brick in the wall too? Oh man I feel like hitting my head against the keyboard so often, dig the message of the song, think I'll go play.... :D

  • @jessatilley Thanks for checking it out, Jessa. Keep playing.

  • What a great tune : )

    Rocket

  • @Ottawarocket Hey Rocket, thanks for listening!

  • great song DMIO. I love the dood of the song. Yeah i need to let the world turn with out me also. Nice sax playing

  • @wolfgang8u Thanks for checking it out, brother. Rock on!

  • @Hippie1944 Thanks for listening and subscribing!

  • @TheLowLifeGang I'm glad I inspire you, but please don't quit your day job on my account lol. I know, the tube isn't near as much fun as it used to be; I wish the corp0rate could just let us have some fun.

  • Well, that was incredible really. I like how you make the last chord of the chorus become the home key by staying on it a while blowing saxophone, and the mix of quirkiness simultaneously puts you in the same line as Beefheart and Zappa while stamping your individuality all over the sound.

  • @CurtisMateer I appreciate such careful listening! The other thing I tried to do was make the verses minor-ish then play the sax in a major scale to try and make the distinction between dron-ism and play... of course my sax playing is so sloppy, who knows what notes I actually hit lol. I've gotten the Zappa comparison a few times... I doubt I'm worthy of it; I think it might be because I generally avoid love songs which are 90% of the tunes out there.

  • @dmio2 I noticed the minor key major key ambiguity too. It sounds like the chord is a minor while you've sung a major third over the top of it then vice versa...Could you perhaps have played a chord made up only of the 1st, fifth and eighth do achieve this effect? The modality found in Eastern music, Debussy, Appalachian and Celtic balladry as well as the jazz of Miles, Coltrane, George Russell, Eric Dolphy and others contains fascinating ground as yet unexhausted in rock.

  • cool, i can imagine myself playing in a music room like that.

  • @perryjw Thanks for listening! Yeah my "studio" is a corner in the concrete basement... but I'm glad to have it lol.

  • cool

  • @TheLowLifeGang Thanks for listening, MD. I always enjoy your comments... its like you actually listen lol. I think I might write a 420 song and time it thusly... see, I rip you off too lol.

  • Way to go Dan... Fry the Corpratocracy. They have earned it. At times you just have to step away from it all.. and play, play, play. I enjoyed your playing... singing too.

  • @archtopbrownie Thanks for listening, Lance. I appreciate comments from real players like yourself. btw, I bought two guitars from a guy on craigslist yesterday: A 1977 Gibson RD and a 1992 SG standard. never enough eh.

  • Very trippy and cool :P

  • @DavidRandallCurtis Thanks for checking it out!

  • No matter how things insidiously align, the world CANNOT turn one day without you my brother.

    Awesome!

  • @JeriLynnKarr Ha, I've been getting that impression lately. Thanks for listening; see you at the meetings.

  • sweet....and the video was cool too...

  • @MicheleMidnight Thanks for checking it out Michele.

  • God, I loved the intro....Listen to you...WOW, this is GREAT--the lyrics and singing. (Drone is my fav word)---The Sax was soooo cool. You're looking and sounding WONDERFUL Brother!! You put some work into this....and you did a Beautiful job on it!! Excellent Sound!! You really have soooo much talent...amazing!! Thank you for sharing this..Started my Monday off on a Cool note..(smile)

    Peace,

    Yvonne

  • @chirogirl67550 Wow, you're welcome to comment here anytime, Yvonne. I guess that "Dones droning droneward" line really worked for you. Thanks for listening and the cool comment.

  • @dmio2 Yah, (Drone) that works for me...it's the foundation of my political objections to the way we are all treated...(smile) Man, that sax sounds mighty fine!! Glad I came back here again...

Peace and Happy Monday to you,

    Yvonne

  • Love the sax...and the ass-- embly...great!

  • @reliablebow Thanks for listening, Michael. Guess I'm still letting my freak flag fly :)

  • I love this!! :) Awesome tune bro!!!!

  • @karryn13 I dig the enthusiastic comment! Thanks for listening

  • I have to admit that I am a sucker for the busting of the sax. Sweet! Solid beat mate.

  • @experimentalrock The truth is I can barely play the stupid sax (it takes me 50 tries to get an 8 bar solo), but people seem to think it's cool so I keep doing it. lol Thanks for listening!

  • A spring treat! Hip production, good song. and lyrics. You might be dangerous.

  • @edro333 Thanks for checking it out. I'm a dangerous attention seeker anyway.

  • Very cool song! I been sayin' all this to myself for many many days! Life is a trip. sometimes i actually miss the rat race... well the cash anyway. LOL.

  • @JessBottles Thanks for listening, Jess. I know what you mean! I think it is hard to remain counter-culture for ever. That is how I get through the work day... I just think, "well, at least I'm not trying to hunt a bison with a stone tip spear."

  • Hey bro..you are a talented mo fo!

  • @HOOKAMONKY Thanks for listening! Rock on!

  • hi there Dan. i watch an awful lot of videos of original song writers on YT. your lyrics are fascinating to hear and contimplate. one unique line after another (.Idiopathic idioms idiotically aligned.....or

Awake at the wake with misemployed time) this has been a very interesting and satisfying listen. i find myself thinking, "he probably doesn't really have a day job, the round peg square hole might need a trapazoid hammer, whatever that means. very cool, chuck.

  • @chuxtrux I really appreciate your comments... its like you actually listened! With this tune I had a idea then threw the thesaurus at it. I also heard someone use alliteration in a tune so I wanted to give that a try. I am highly flattered that see me as some rumbas shaped counter culture guy... its what I always aspired to be. But just like the poor slob in the song, these days I'm totally sold out to the grind. (btw, I may rip off "Trapazoid Hammer" for my next tune)

  • Good,solid song...need to spin it again!

  • @tps607 Thanks for listening!

  • So good to come on the tube and see you have posted! Wonderful original. Love when the sax came in! Digging the lyrics and melody too! Nice groove!!

  • @cameragirlJane Thanks for listening, my faithful youtube friend; and thanks for the cool comment!

  • Nice tune! Great lyrics!

  • @nuketoober Thanks for finding the time to listen :)

  • Love the melody in this song. Really nice my friend.

  • @slammyjammy38 Thanks for listening, Ralph. That's a nice comment from a melodic singer like yourself.

  • Rock on m yfriend, without music there is no life!

  • @WizKil You and me are living that one, Brian. A couple of geezers rocking & rolling just cuz we gotta. Thanks for listening.

  • I totally agree with the sentiments in the song Dan! Lovely sax part and I'm grateful to you taking a break from work to make this video :))

  • @ljped Thanks for checking it out, Jack. To be honest, I can barely play that stupid saxophone. I must do fifty takes to get an 8-bar solo; but people seem to think it's cool, so I keep playing the thing.

  • Hey, Dan -- it's good to hear something from you! Especially a personal coaching song -- heheh ... I left the corpo-rat world behind several years ago and highly recommend it -- there's so much more to life than looking for your cheese!

  • @liz1060 Thanks for stopping by, Liz. I resent having to "steal" 15 minutes here and there to play the guitar so I guess you all get to listen to me pout about it lol.

  • Cool tune Dan! Nice work on the vid also!

  • @townstra Thanks for listening, Tracy. Yeah, my wife gave me some new video software for Christmas... still trying to figure it out. Not quite as cool as your Carvin, but its nice she's thinking of me.

  • i agree, " Its fun to know who stopped by". ..when i share my video's in pm's and people reply either back in the pm with a video of theres or "nice job" or leave a "comment on the main channel page" is a little Annoying. how much time would it have taken to go to the video to leave a comment? its better just not to say/do anything. but that is not why i am here. this is very cool, coz its rock , jazz, blues all in one- this is what i hear at least. you r a one man show! kudos. michael

  • @mettanc That's why I usually comment, cuz I know I enjoy them. One thing I tried to do here was make the song minor-ish, then when the sax solo came to play major (its the "play" part) so I guess that's the mixed metaphor of it all. Thanks for listening!

  • @dmio2 My understanding according to the science of music theory is when one plays a major scale over a minor chord it is known as modal playing. It is like adding spices to a recipe. You need not worry about being worthy of comparison it is simply your influences showing. No shame is dissing the corporate machine. I look forward to the day when all wars are fought with guitars and saxaphones and come to be known as the battle of the bands. Until then we dance...

    Aloha,

    Thomas

  • @kiaweking Thanks for listening, Thomas. I've been thinking that stuff like this is really the answer to world peace. Here we are, a bunch of garage musicians from around the world listening and commenting on each others stuff. If the world can be fixed, it will be done by dopes like us instead of the elitist-scum that seem to filter to the top. I bet the average Libyian just wants to sell shoes or grow tulips or whatever and just be left alone.

  • @dmio2 The only people who can change the world are those whose souls are not for sale. Omnia vincit amor April 22,2011 is Earth day. Love your Mother ( I think FZ would concur)

    Malama aina,

    Thomas

....oh yeah, I liked how you synced the taiko drums. Nice touch ;-)

  • Yep we got to play yea! Real cool playing mon ami!

When we can, we can let that world turn by itself;-)...And play!

    Fine video! Yea!

  • @Boucrate I think you have beat the system on that one, my friend. But you are right, that guitar is good therapy.

  • a wonderful song

    by the way

    did you loose weight

    you look great

  • @7lizet Thanks for listening, Lizet. And I've decided to believe you're flirting with me :)

  • @dmio2

    you naughty boy

    I am married ;-)

well maybe a little bit hahaha

  • The world today, is no longer a place,,,,greed wears,, a friendly 2face!!!!!
