Allah is Arabic for God. That is a distraction from the 'theism vs. atheism' debates. @glitterbypink Undoubtedly Evolution happens. Agree 100%. Natural Selection happens. Agree 100% . But is natural selection the sole cause of evolution? Nah. No chance.
@stu1002 good call, sounds like you're one of the few people who paid attention during this lesson in high school. Genetic drift, mutation, gene flow, non random mating, adaptation, fitness, intra-sexual competition and inter-sexual competition are all things that contribute to evolution.
@glitterbypink I think you have looked past my point somewhat Laura, all the things you mention are part of the natural selection algorithm. They all come under the general heading of natural selection. Adaptation is the product of natural selection. Fitness is a property of a being which is selected for. Genetic drift and mutation are just processes which create fitness (which can then be naturally selected for).
They are all interesting, but none of the things you mention avoid the problem
@glitterbypink Or what about some evidence that you love your mom more than your dog. I am not talking about "I tell her that" because if I werre to tell you God existed, you would not believe me. So, just you telling your mom you love her is not tangible evidence. There are many concepts such as that, such as Hitler being evil, etc etc. You would have to not believe if there is no God. If there is no God, there is no soul. If there is no soul we are no different from any other animal.
@comeonfolks I don't even know what point you're trying to get at here. I agree telling your mom you love her is not evidence of love, but you can show your love. Evil is subjective. To one Hitler may be evil, to others he may not be. We are no different from other animals (aside from how we evolved differently)
@glitterbypink No, you cannot show your love to your mom. What does your love look like? Is it dffernt than my love? Is it blue, red or orange? Can you touch and see and sense your love? Or should I just believe in your love? We are different than other animals because we know what love is and we know what evil is. If you say that Hitler may be evil to some and not evil to others, then there is no objective standard for evil.
@comeonfolks Alright, then you can show your affection, love isn't something concrete, love is subjective. Love is a word made up by humans to explain an intense connection to someone. I agree there is no objective standard for evil. There is a general idea, but what may be evil for some, may not be evil for others. We are different from other animals yes, we evolved differently, I fail to see how our separate evolution from other species is proof of a god.
@glitterbypink If we are no different from any other animal, cheating on your wife is not an evil thing to do. Killing other young (such as male lions do) is not an evil thing to do. It is just natural. It is because we are animals. If other animals are not evil for killing off other young, human beings cannot be said to be evil for killing off other humans. That is, if no God exists.
@glitterbypink Laura, I think Shanana000 makes a good point badly, I covered this in a youtube message to you (couldn't fit it in a comment) but it is a bizzare reason to hold that atheism is true because you don't know WHICH God made the universe. That's like claiming someone who has been shot in the head WASN'T murdered because you don't know who (out of a few possible choices) the murderer is.
"God exists" is just step 1. WHICH god that is would be waaay down the line of questioning.
I became an atheist at 20, when I went to college and took my first college biology corse and relised that the creation stories I heard as a kid did not add up scientificly, why and how there are meny variations of similer speacies and how each variation adapted to specific envirnments. Also, around the same time, through my skateboading I descoverd the band Bad Religion, Listioning to there lyrics realy made me think too. Bad Religion uses evolutionary thought in there songs!
awesome vid :) I am a religious person myself but I totally see where you're coming from, I was where you are now once and people have to remember that everyone comes to understanding of things in their own way and in their own time, so keep doing what you're doing :) Great work, peace :D
It just shows that the people who tell you to read the Bible don't even read it themselves. This being said, I believe in a Creative force. But the 'Creator' most people believe in is not what they may think it to be...
Thats because most religions believe that every religion leads to God, wheras Christians believe that there is only one way to get to God, thats why we try to tell people and help them realise. The proof is there, nobody just seems to accept it.
@14SarahAnne I'd love to hear some of these test you've done to prove god, specifically the christian god. I can guarantee every proof you give can either be disproven or nullified as actual evidence. If you're up to the challenge so am I.
@glitterbypink I dont need to test anything, the bible and other religious writings say so. I believe that God is real, he loves us and wants us to stay by him, but people in this world dont want God, because they think they dont need him, or are just ignorant to evidence. Im up to a challenge but im going to use evidence, not theories and random ideas. Im not trying to make a fool out of anyone, im just trying to show you that the evidence is there.
@14SarahAnne So by that logic, there are flying broomsticks, because Harry Potter says so. "The bible is true, because the bible says it's true" Circular Logic. SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE and a little fyi, because you sound a little uneducated about science, a theory in science is an explanation or model based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning, especially one that has been tested and confirmed as a general principle helping to explain and predict natural phenomena. So fact so far.
Thats because most religions believe that every religion leads to God, wheras Christians believe that there is only one way to get to God, thats why we try to tell people and help them realise.
@smurfboywv The burden of proof is on those who claim something exists. If I were to say to you there is a magical invisible teapot orbiting mars, would you just believe me because you couldn't prove it not to be true. No, you'd tell me I had to prove it. Now I could be wrong, you could believe in every claim anyone has ever made. Maybe you believe in unicorns, and leprechauns, and the rapture, and dragons, and fairies, and a plethora of other things. But I doubt that is true.
@glitterbypink Why do athiests say dumb stuff like "spaghetti monsters" and "magical invisible teapot orbiting mars"? It has nothing to do with believing in God. I do not want to see anyone left behind when christ takes his people to heaven. Just live a faithful life and thank the Lord for the food he provides you, the water you drink, and every breath you take, God tells us we are not guaranteed the next breath, or the next day, that we need to have faith in all things.
@smurfboywv The Flying Spaghetti Monster and similar claims are humorous comparisons.
Oftentimes, a theist will say that atheism is foolish because we cannot prove that God does not exist. The absurdity of this statement is revealed through these comparisons. The FSM cannot be proven to not exist, yet it is perfectly reasonable to say that he does not exist, because there is no evidence suggesting that he does. Claims of God are no different.
@EmperorZ19 Why do god haters always use flying spaghetti monsters and fairytale figures in comparison to holy God? You just make yourself look stupid.
@smurfboywv Unless you can produce evidence that claims of God are any more legitimate than claims of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, all you do is reveal your own bias and closed-mindedness. To you, he's your Holy God, but from an outsiders perspective, unclouded by bias, he's no more than a fairy tale
@EmperorZ19 Atheists obsession with flying spaghetti monsters, fairies, pixies, unicorns and aliens is beginning to make me wonder if they have a severe mental disorder. You cannot compare God with man made childrens stories. Please seek mental help for your disability.
@smurfboywv Oh yeah? Well only the Flying Spaghetti monster can control global warming, so you either need to dress up like a pirate to appease him or shut up.
You're statements about he entity that you've given me no evidence for are completely empty.
Big foot, leprechauns, pixies, gremlins, Buddha, Shiva, Ra, Thor, Zeus, Yahweh. The existence of none of these entities can be taken seriously unless backed by some sort of evidence.
@smurfboywv The stuff about the FSM, by the way? It's not mental illness, it's called parody. I'm mocking you, because your claims about Yahweh are just as outlandish as claims of the Flying Spaghetti Monster
@EmperorZ19 Yahweh?? What the hell planet are you from? There IS 1 God, and 1 Jesus, what you think has no effect in this world because they are here and you will answer to them.
@smurfboywv Yahweh is the name of your God, as written in the original Hebrew. The name of your god doesn't really matter to my point though.
Civilizations throughout history have all had their own claims of gods. What makes your claims any more legitimate than theirs.
I don't believe in Odin, Zeus, Vishnu, or Buddha. I also don't believe in the Christian god. Why is it reasonable to disbelieve in those first four, but not the last one. What makes your claims different from the others?
@EmperorZ19 There has always been one God, anyone who worships any other God or idol does not inhereit the kingdom of heaven. My claim is true, and no atheist can prove otherwise. Men who have rebelled agaionst God in the past have been killed because of their sin, but you'd better bet hell is a real place, as is heaven, so when you die you'll have to answer to our heavenly father for blaspheming against him.
@smurfboywv The burden of proof lies on the party making a claim, so if you're claiming that your god exists, it is not my job to prove that he doesn't, it's yours to prove that he does.
Unless you can provide some evidence for your god's existence, then he's considered to be no more real than any other religion's deity
So, in summary: What makes your God's existence any more likely than any others? Don't just say "He exists" with no evidence, that's an baseless statement
@smurfboywv Atheism don't have anything to prove. We reject your claims on the grounds that they have no evidence supporting them. This is how logic works with any other claim.
If I make a claim like "invisible dragons exist in the forests", are you expected to prove me wrong before disbelieving me? No, I would be expected to prove myself before being believed, and it's no different when Christians make claims of their deity's existence.
Life is based upon a cycle of reincarnation. The individual you are reborn as is based upon your karma. The ultimate goal of life is to achieve a state known as Nirvana, so that when you die, instead of being reincarnated, your spirit will rejoin the great cosmic essense.
What I just described is Buddhism BTW. So, do you believe it's all true, simply because it cannot be disproven? Wouldnt you expect me to prove that claim before it's believed?
@smurfboywv I being a person of science, will change my mind of the existence of gods if it is proven to be true. In science, what claims are made are based on facts, and if those facts change, the claims do to.
@glitterbypink Ok, well its your soul so make the right choices, when the day comes that you leave this world and you stand before Christ, you'll have to answer for the decisions you made on earth. God wants us all to have eternity in his heavenly kingdom, but jesus did say in Matthew 10:33 "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven".
@smurfboywv If god is the god of the bible who said that, he is a dick and I'd rather not spend eternity with him. If he is the loving god that many claim he will see that I lived my life according to what I thought was right and wrong, I wasn't trying to spite him. I'll be able to talk to him or whoever the actual god may be and explain my decisions.
@glitterbypink God also said "Even if I were to stand in front of you, you would still not believe". This is why there's no point in him coming to show himself, you'd still deny him and his great work.
@smurfboywv So I should believe why? If I'm going to believe in something with zero proof of it's existence I'd much rather believe in Thor, or Dionysus, or Superman. I'd rather believe in someone who doesn't cause the slaughter of a people, condone rape and slavery, hate gays, and damn people to hell for being human. Also I would not follow a god who starts everyone out being guilty until proven innocent.
@smurfboywv That's bull and you know it. If God were to carve a 100 mile by 100 mile message in the sky out of floating, glowing, rainbow-colored ice declaring his existence (in other words, sending a message in a clear, obviously impossible way), I, and everyone else, would believe. Why doesn't he do that?
@smurfboywv Faith? Why is faith a good thing? Faith is believing something for no reason other than it makes you feel good. Faith is willful ignorance. Faith is throwing away your powerful mind, capable of great things, for the sake of a comforting lie.
Go ahead and throw your mind away in favor of faith, instead of seeing the real truths of the world.
@EmperorZ19 LOL another stupid comment. God is the father, His word is the only right one, and no man can come unto the father but through Jesus Christ. I will pray that you leave the atheist cult can come to know Jesus.
@smurfboywv Your statement has NO LOGIC OR EVIDENCE BEHIND IT. A person can make any claim they want, but without evidence, it's all nonsense. Either provide some evidence that your claims are any more valid than any other religions, or shut up
@smurfboywv Are you kidding? You haven't given me a single piece of information that suggests that your God exists.
I don't hate God BTW, I cannot hate what does not exists. I DO hate the effect that strong religion can have on a person though. It results in people like you, who cannot form a single rational thought and merely assert that their beliefs are true with absolutely no logic or evidence backing them.
@EmperorZ19 You must be deaf, or blind, or both. Let me say this plainly, we live on faith and trust in our Lord God. We know he exists because our faith in him gives us the ability to hear him, and feel his presence in our hearts and souls. We do not live on things we see, hear, taste, touch or smell. And again, if you refuse to acknowledge your lord you will pay the ultimate price. If you were dying, and needed a heart or kidney, would you kill the man who gave you a second chance at life?????
@smurfboywv Just because yo believe something is true, doesn't make it so. People of all religions around the world have faith that their beliefs are true, but these conflicting beliefs cannot all be true. People of every religion have faith. If faith is all the reason to believe in your religion, but that same faith is present in every religion, then there's no reason to believe in your religion over any other. Without something more than faith, they may as well all be false, including yours.
@smurfboywv Atheism is not an assertion that there is no god, it is the rejection of the claims that there is one, usually on the grounds that there is no evidence to support said claim.
Great video, but just one thing I wanted to add...
Of course atheists have a moral code. Religion stole their moral code from humanists, they just pretend they have a monopoly on morals, that's all.
Atheists are more moral because we know that we are responsible for our actions and we can't "cast our sins" on someone else and be forgiven just for asking.
Evidence for the existence of the Magical Sky Wizard is out there... But sadly, they're all "logical" arguments. Say for instance, "God in the gaps", when science cannot explain something, it automatically defaults to "God did it." So it's "logical" in a sense that there is a creator, maybe even for the complexity of life. But "logical" proof does not mean it is correct. This is why science is awesome, it provides the logical proof along with objective, empirical data. Great video by the way. :)
OMG -- (is that right? I'm an old geezer, so I get confused) -- you are a lovely, intelligent young person. Can't tell ya how much vids like yours give me hope for the human race.

EmperorZ19 8 months ago
@smurfboywv I being a person of science, will change my mind of the existence of gods if it is proven to be true. In science, what claims are made are based on facts, and if those facts change, the claims do to.
glitterbypink 9 months ago
@glitterbypink Ok, well its your soul so make the right choices, when the day comes that you leave this world and you stand before Christ, you'll have to answer for the decisions you made on earth. God wants us all to have eternity in his heavenly kingdom, but jesus did say in Matthew 10:33 "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven".
smurfboywv 9 months ago
@smurfboywv If god is the god of the bible who said that, he is a dick and I'd rather not spend eternity with him. If he is the loving god that many claim he will see that I lived my life according to what I thought was right and wrong, I wasn't trying to spite him. I'll be able to talk to him or whoever the actual god may be and explain my decisions.
glitterbypink 9 months ago
@glitterbypink God also said "Even if I were to stand in front of you, you would still not believe". This is why there's no point in him coming to show himself, you'd still deny him and his great work.
smurfboywv 9 months ago
@smurfboywv So I should believe why? If I'm going to believe in something with zero proof of it's existence I'd much rather believe in Thor, or Dionysus, or Superman. I'd rather believe in someone who doesn't cause the slaughter of a people, condone rape and slavery, hate gays, and damn people to hell for being human. Also I would not follow a god who starts everyone out being guilty until proven innocent.
glitterbypink 9 months ago
@glitterbypink You refuse the lord, you condemn yourself to an eternal lake of fire, you'll see this when you die and then it will be too late.
smurfboywv 9 months ago
@smurfboywv That's bull and you know it. If God were to carve a 100 mile by 100 mile message in the sky out of floating, glowing, rainbow-colored ice declaring his existence (in other words, sending a message in a clear, obviously impossible way), I, and everyone else, would believe. Why doesn't he do that?
EmperorZ19 8 months ago
@EmperorZ19 Because we live on FAITH. Atheists will NEVER EVER say anything to me to make me believe their lies NEVER EVER!!!!
smurfboywv 8 months ago
@smurfboywv Faith? Why is faith a good thing? Faith is believing something for no reason other than it makes you feel good. Faith is willful ignorance. Faith is throwing away your powerful mind, capable of great things, for the sake of a comforting lie.
Go ahead and throw your mind away in favor of faith, instead of seeing the real truths of the world.
EmperorZ19 8 months ago
@EmperorZ19 LOL another stupid comment. God is the father, His word is the only right one, and no man can come unto the father but through Jesus Christ. I will pray that you leave the atheist cult can come to know Jesus.
smurfboywv 8 months ago
@smurfboywv Your statement has NO LOGIC OR EVIDENCE BEHIND IT. A person can make any claim they want, but without evidence, it's all nonsense. Either provide some evidence that your claims are any more valid than any other religions, or shut up
EmperorZ19 8 months ago
@EmperorZ19 My statement has total logic and evidence, you're entire god hating belief is nonsense.
smurfboywv 8 months ago
@smurfboywv Are you kidding? You haven't given me a single piece of information that suggests that your God exists.
I don't hate God BTW, I cannot hate what does not exists. I DO hate the effect that strong religion can have on a person though. It results in people like you, who cannot form a single rational thought and merely assert that their beliefs are true with absolutely no logic or evidence backing them.
EmperorZ19 8 months ago
@EmperorZ19 You must be deaf, or blind, or both. Let me say this plainly, we live on faith and trust in our Lord God. We know he exists because our faith in him gives us the ability to hear him, and feel his presence in our hearts and souls. We do not live on things we see, hear, taste, touch or smell. And again, if you refuse to acknowledge your lord you will pay the ultimate price. If you were dying, and needed a heart or kidney, would you kill the man who gave you a second chance at life?????
smurfboywv 8 months ago
@smurfboywv Just because yo believe something is true, doesn't make it so. People of all religions around the world have faith that their beliefs are true, but these conflicting beliefs cannot all be true. People of every religion have faith. If faith is all the reason to believe in your religion, but that same faith is present in every religion, then there's no reason to believe in your religion over any other. Without something more than faith, they may as well all be false, including yours.
EmperorZ19 8 months ago
@smurfboywv As for your "ultimate price", I will not accept threats in place of evidence.
EmperorZ19 8 months ago
@EmperorZ19 Again trash talk. Whay God offers us in death for us believing in him in life is a gift NO MAN can ever give you.
smurfboywv 8 months ago
@smurfboywv Atheism is not an assertion that there is no god, it is the rejection of the claims that there is one, usually on the grounds that there is no evidence to support said claim.

Great video, but just one thing I wanted to add...
Of course atheists have a moral code. Religion stole their moral code from humanists, they just pretend they have a monopoly on morals, that's all.
Atheists are more moral because we know that we are responsible for our actions and we can't "cast our sins" on someone else and be forgiven just for asking.
We're not into scapegoating like theists are...

I think I've read some of your comments on reddit...
Anyway, this is a good video giving a good summary of one possible way a person can live as an atheist. Thanks for giving us some good publicity :)
