@gomektampa - i've been blasted for the che shirt before! i realize now that it pisses some people off. i've always been fascinated with che and fidel as well. not that they did good or not, but i dug there intentions in a way. i realize what fidel has done and i wouldn't wear that shirt in miami!!! che intrigues me. but thanks for not blasting me!!
you should give it a try on a piece like this sometime, it really changes a lot about the overall quality of sound of the instrument...all that aside, you really do some nice work.
some nice work, i bet you'd sound better if you were more aware of the nodes on the instrument, unless of course the peice is written to be played on the nodes. it seems as though all of your accidentals are played on the nodes though and no natural tones...just food for thought, very nice otherwise!
@mikeyp68431 you're probably right, but i just never worried about that. i think in jazz guys are less worried about that, althought there are a few that i've talked to that really take care to play in the middle.
You could hold the mallots in your ass if you wanted to; your playing is splendid. People should not put a properness on technique, as music is the expression of an individual and the Soul. And as much as I appreciate that song (which is a lot), you made it almost as lovely if you had Mary Hopkins there singing along with you.
Sounds great. You seem to have a good grasp of the instrument so who cares what you look like when you play. I've heard Samuels say the same thing in a clinic. Heck, Mike Mainieri plays with mallets 1 and 4 held on to with his pinkys. Not sure how he does it but he pulls it off! Keep vibin'.
This sounds sweet man but watch your technique, you use a lot of arm and I cant even tell what grip your using, it looks like a mix of burton and stevens
Man, you are "devil" playng this instrument.... tooooo good!!!!!!!!

also, i've seen a few of your vibes posts, and it would be cool to hear you on vibes with less hardware noise

is this all improv, or can I get a hold of the sheet music somehow?

this piece kinda reminds me of tapdancing or somthing like your mallets are dancing.

The way your mallets float after you lift them up... mouthwatering!

Hey Tony!
On that one you make me think about the dog in the muppet show! You know, the one on the piano ! :o) He rocks!
A bit more seriously, I like the way you master the different spaces between both your left hand sticks: surely, this grip fits you, it's yours!
Best,
