  • Sure,

It definitely performed better mounted vertical - but only because the Multanova 6f is a polarized radar. It won't make any difference if the radar used (in Romania??) isn't polarized (most radar isn't). The STi-R picked up a REAR FACING camera (the video above) from over 200m away. This is the longest distance of any radar we've tested including the V1 in Euro mode.

  • Thank you for the fast reply. In Romania we have only K-band radars but I travel abroad and there are rear facing Multanovas in other EU countries. The most "fierce" radar in RO is the Traffipax Speedophot mounted on the front bumper of a stationary police car. It reads the speed after you pass the car from behind. It is very hard to detect because of its low power output. Do they use this kind of radar in Australia? I would like to see some thests with the STI-R against the Speedophot.

  • What band is the speedophot? K-band as well? The above video is a rear facing Multanova but it's Ka (34.3GHz)

Most radars are aimed at the front as you approach, but some are set up to take your picture as you drive past as you've described.

  • Yes, the speedophot is K-band. I know that the Multanova is Ka. I only care about Multanova when I travel to other EU countries.

In the near future we won't see Ka here in RO.

  • I can't figure out which way (vertical or horizontal) the STI-R performs better. Can you please explain?
