  • A most incredible band of tue 70's way ahead of their time.

  • so I was in the car with my mom and I said "turn on the raido" and she did then this song came on, she BLARED it with the windows and she like sang the really fast part without getting any wrong wrods it was awesome.

  • They are one of the legend band ...........awesome!!!

  • band had so many great songs

  • i thought it said too stoned to turn? but then, I have dyslexia.....

  • One of so many great songs by this band

  • @jakesterlingdavis just in case

  • my fave song of all time

  • Electric Light Orchestra are the greatest and 'Turn To Stone' is theee key song in the memory banks of my lifetime!

  • ty

  • Song rules, video sucks blurry balls.

  • Shepherd of Hermes...visions III + IV = which or witch stone?

  • 13 people missed the like button. Hope they come back.

  • @jakesterlingdavis so it can't be put on repeat.

  • wow great memories of a pizzeria in clifton n. j. called stellas!!! we use to go there and eat from school. it was on van houten ave!!! i use to play this on the jukebox all the time. had to be the year 77 or so

  • the songs awesome but this video is lame

  • great classic !

  • @cheekylibs comment to jakesterlingdavis

good answer, more listening time can be very helpful even for those who love these songs, if not (also helpful) for those who do not (yet love these songs). funny but true IMO.

  • Fellas, work the stuff out , these guys may be "whatever" but I guarantee u , your girls will hear this and know you've got them ( Just on corny alone!) ... Do yur thing, It's really on us anyway isn't it?

  • Fuck,! you can't top that appraisal !!!...

  • I wore this album out on my sony walkman--LOL

  • Great song

  • Are they in the rock n roll hall of fame?

  • I hear a touch of Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' in this. Also, the Beatles' 'A Day in the Life' at the end. No problem. Love them both, also ELO. Jeff Lynn is a great musician.

  • i got this album on 8-track :)

  • 11 people got turned to stone.

  • Proto-synthpop, and let nobody tell you any different. They may have been hairy & bearded muso's but this track more than other points the way to the 80s. A very brave choice for a single & opening track in 1977 - and, for all it's qualities as a song, a very under-rated performance.

  • This is such a fantastic song! Love it!

  • God this is amazing!

  • this song wont let me sleep, but have no complaints xD

  • ELO is just plain awesome

  • I wish my speakers were louder.

  • ELO !

  • This is (seriously) first ever song I heard on vinyl, I was 5 back then (89). I wasn`t allowed to touch my fathers HiFi but I was a clever beast and managed to turn it on when my parents were in work. I chose ELO because of the Flying Saucer on the cover and Turn to Stone came out first...love it to this day.

  • ELO, - Jeff What talent!

  • @Imyourcheekygirl Yeah, you can sing that again! :-) Unfortunately the rock world is too busy giving politically correct accolades to the likes of Michael Jackson instead. LOL!!! Even the Beatles were not quite up to the creativity of ELO.

  • We didn't realize how good these guys were until they were gone

  • I have Out of the Blue on vinyl, and while I wasn't too impressed at first, it really grew on me. I'd have to say it's better then the likes of ELO II or OtTD, although I personally like those two albums more. More clear, put-together and melodic. Absolutely a blast to listen to, and Concerto for A Rainy day cannot be beat.

  • One can see a time period correlation between this piece, and Apollo 100's Joy. Nearly the same tempo at intro!

  • I like this song :D can somone tell me what similar music is like this?

  • Outer space style music!

  • this song is the devils iniquity

  • @instantkarma257 Secular music can be uplifting and this is. ELO has been referred to as a "clean band" and they were. Don't look at them through the jaded eyes of the 21st Century. Then trash that is expected now would not have been tolerated in the 1970s on radio stations. Remember Olivia N John's trashy "physical" was such an unwelcome milestone in the early 1980s. Turn to stone is about a guy who petrifies when his girl is gone. He's totally lost without her. It's rather a nice idea.

  • this is the best song i have ever heard in my life

  • You cant beat E.L.O blasting out on a sunny day :-)

  • the orchestral part is so melodic, this is really something. this is like pre-trance, pre-techno, and disco elements

  • This shit is epic :D I get this song in my head in the morning when I feel so happy

  • Nice video...cool n trippey

  • This song brings back happy memories. I can't help but feel happy when I hear Jeff Lynn's songs. Go ELO!!! What a band!!!

  • Underated plain and simple

  • @pablo3555 They weren't underrated in the mid-1970s...back then, they RULED the radio (which was the only broadcast music source we had back then, other than a couple of weekly TV shows with live {or lipsynched} performances)

  • Back in the day, I went to an ELO concert. Best I ever seen and I've seen about ever body. Lazer lights had just come out and this was the first concert to use them. So new, the music, the effects of the light show and they were very entertaining themselves. Great blast from the past.

  • @jakesterlingdavis Giving you a chance to reflect on the amazing song you've just experienced.

  • @cheekylibs hehe that's right (:

  • @cheekylibs you are just too lazy to fix it, maybe

  • Simplemente Elo.

Sois increíbles, me alegra saber que no soy el único sobre la faz de la tierra al que le gusta Elo.

  • My dad and i loves Turn to stone, one summer dream and fire on high :D and i LOVE it!!!!!!!

  • Loved ELO. Also enjoyed their creative LP Record assembled model. Jeesh: I miss the LP days! It was like a Surprise Package: An Album & an additional surprise!

  • Really, can Music get better than this? Jeff is the BEST!!!

  • @89goldtop * YUP, i agree 100%. JEFF is/was the best. Is he still around? I wish there was someone like him dominating the pop music scene today.

  • @happydon999 Yes, His name is Genie and he lives in a bottle!!!

  • YUP, I agree with you 100%. E-L-O! Awesome!

  • 8 people are HIV positive.

  • i turn 2 stone wen im blazing peng cheese !!! OH yeh this tune ROCKS!!!!

  • This music deserves to be played LOUD.

  • God this brings back memories....LOVE ELO!!!! My sisters and I used to play this music all the time...drove my parents nuts but....Mom and Dad became ELO fans! :)Thanks for posting :)

  • just to annoy people, 8 people turned to stone. ELO rocks!

  • LOVE THIS....

  • Queen and the Beatles had a baby.

  • @FJCProductions and that baby was born to rock!!!

  • @FJCProductions I couldn't have put it better myself. :D

  • @FJCProductions More like the offspring of Queen and the Beatles had a love child with the Four Tops.

  • @jerzeyshorestallion EXCELLENT!!!

  • i see the medusa was here !

  • Scroll back up, u didn't come here to read comments you came to listen to ELO.

  • back in the 60s music took a wild and creative turn, so the youth of the 60s who didnt have todays electronic distractions, tured to music,by the 70s there was a music store on every corner.I got my 1st electric guitar in 76.Every other kid in urban America was learning to play.so by the 80s there was hundreds of bands to choose from in every catagory. Also there were no real wars and the economy was ok so songs reflected love and good times. Now kids play xbox

    guitar hero

  • how bout elo on midnight special?

  • this music is way before my time but i love it

  • I LOVE THIS SONG THIS TAKES ME BACK SOOOOO MANY YEARS..... I see 8 people have turned to stone

  • what a great band! reminds me of my youth! lol!

  • The next decades should begin the renewal of the 60's to 80's styles.

  • CHECK OUT MY COVER OF THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME! YOU WILL LOVE IT! <3

  • A friend turned me on to ELO and I can't stop listening to their music now! It's amazing, I didn't think that anybody else in my school liked music like this, and I'm glad I became friends with him and he introduced me to ELO. (:

  • @LordoftheDuh Amazing that this music is so catchy!

  • Another one of my many favorite band of the 70's.

  • Will be uploading two more ELO tracks today so keep your eyes peeled

  • @cheekylibs and ears opened

  • One of the greatest modern rock intro's EVER! ~EPIC in fact!

  • One of their most under-rated songs reaching only number 18 in the charts while 'Hold on Tight' (which is inferior to this song in my opinion )reached number 4 !

  • @cheekylibs ALL OF THEM PLEASE!!!!!!

  • I HAD FORGOT JUST HOW GOOD THEY WAS' CHEERS.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm 18 and I love ELO

  • @jediskunk67

    Same here

  • This song gives me an erection and I have ED!

  • Absolute classic. Most stuff nowadays is like goose shit in comparison

  • @learue8

It was most certainly a compliment. If you type in "John Lennon and ELO" into the search bar,you will come across an audio clip of John on some radio show where he's doing an intro for the Showdown record, which he declares a "great record" and refers to them as a "nice group" and calls them "son of beatles".He obviously was a fan.

  • Sounds like the ending to A Day In The Life.

  • the future beatles :D

  • Absolutely brilliant what a classic

  • A New World Record was the first album I ever bought, back in 1976, I know, then Out of the Blue, my second. Played them both to death. Punk happened, admitting to be an ELO fan was social suicide! But my love never died. So much happened in the 70's musically, it seemed normal at the time, but looking back over the years, it was an incredible period. Yeah whatevah! ;)

  • Thanks for being HONEST with the video. Much appreciated.

  • fuck yeah!

  • ELO freaking ROCKS

  • The first time I heard this song was in my geography class in high school. My teacher thought it was a good segway into learning about the lithosphere.

  • All respect for E.L.O.!

  • Yay @ 205,283 views. I had this album(out of the blue) and this was by far my favorite song!!

    Timothy

  • 9 people already turned to stone =)

  • love the flaz synth

  • most definitely some greatness

  • Talent, talent, and craftsmanship, not much of that these days , ah well.

  • Talent, talent, and craftsmanship, not much of that these days , and ain't it a surprise that good stuff like this is not played on the golden oldies sectionsof various radio stations !!

  • Talent! Much respect

  • 9 people turned to stone

  • 9 people turned to stone

  • ELO still rocks after all these years. So called bands today just don't have the talent level of bands like ELO, Alan Parsons, Floyd or Jim Steinman.

  • Thier music sounds ethereal...and groovey !

  • @MightyZarkon i cant believe that there was no computers to make music! this is actual electronic rock! well originator of it, mainly.

  • HOLD IT! Queen is QUEEN and E.L.O. is E.L.O. They were great groups for DIFFERENT reasons. Nuff said!

  • listening to this song on the radio.

  • don't ELO's Out Of The Blue will be known and is known as my sister's albums

  • I can remember this album as clear as day. ELO into the blue. It was the first album i ever bought with my money. There were a lot of good songs on this album. I played this song so many times i actually wore out the needle of my brothers turntable. It was a sansui turntable with a marantz receiver, with the big pioneer cabinet speakers. What a simple time to live, Thanks for sharing this.

  • Can't. Stop. Listening

  • Fantastic brings back memories!!!!

  • thanks for uploading all these great records what an awesome group

  • is there a song by elo thats chorus says here comes the rain again goodbye my lonely friend or somethin like that , i have it in my head and think its elo but am not sure , its driving me mad i cant find it anywhere but i remember it growing up in the 80s please help !!!!!

  • @monikafilth That actually sounds more like The Doors song The End.

  • @monikafilth Eurythmics - Here Comes the Rain Again? it's from '83, seems quite relevant...

  • 7 people cant turn into stone.

  • I turned to stoned, when my pots gone.

  • ELO is the shit!!!!!!!!!!

    LOVE it!

  • @RMMCDenver They were

  • smoke herb and listen to ELO.

  • ELO <3

  • lol that's brilliant made me giggle when you ran out of ideas... :D awesome song :D

  • I forget how great ELO were, I ve had a great night catching up with all the old ELO stuff. Happy memories. Proud to be a fellow Brummie

  • is weird but this song makes me feel great and remember

good times in my life specially when i see the movies DETROIT ROCK CITY , ALMOUST FAMOUS OR SIMILARS

  • driving my car full speed

  • I love the fact that if you listen, that they (ELO) love using Beatles chord structures. In the end of it the music that ELO have created stands out as much as the Beatles.

  • ALL THEIR SONGS ROCK! (LIKE IF U AGREE)

  • @MegaTara15 When will people learn that nobody likes comments when the poster begs for thumbs up like a BITCH!?

  • Would anybody like to request any other ELO songs to be uploaded? post a comment & i'll see what i can do (:

  • @cheekylibs How about 'Wild West Hero' with a western theme video? That's one of my all-time favorite ELO songs! Thanks! =)

  • Comment removed

  • @cheekylibs all of them:P hahah there is alot

  • @cheekylibs Fire on High

  • @cheekylibs you have done a great job with these ELO tunes. Cheers x

  • @cheekylibs How about all of them?

  • @cheekylibs

How about 'Sweet Talkin Woman' and or 'Do Ya'? Would love either...

  • @cheekylibs You can upload ANY and ALL ELO songs and it'll be perfectly fine with me! LOVE them!!

  • great song !!!

  • Another ELO song that reminds me of Narnia is "Strange Magic."

  • It reminds me of the first Narnia film. I guess this is the White Witch's favorite. Not exactly a Narnian lullaby.

  • ELO

One of the best. Jeff Lynn is surely a musical genius.

  • The lights don't shine no moreeeeeeeeeeee.

  • Quote from John Lennon -- "If The Beatles had stayed together, we'd have sounded like ELO."

  • Comment removed

  • @zkxv I don't know if that's an actual quote, but if it is, I wonder if he meant it as a compliment or an insult!

  • @zkxv He didn't mean that in a good way. Besides, it was a wry comment on Lynne's tendency to sound like Macca and his propensity for lifting Beatle's riffs.

  • @zkxv they do remind me of the beatles a bit =)

  • @flapjack012 Because Lynne was a HUGE admirer of the Beatles, and was heavily influenced by their songs and musical style. If you listen to this and then something of the later Beatles, you'll notice that they're very similar.

  • @zkxv

I think ELO was a bit better than the Beatles. The Beatles got really stupid towards the end. Although I love Paul's stuff after they broke up.

  • Thanks for putting up Turn to Stone! I miss this type of music.....Whatever happened to the talent? The vast majority of music today sucks.

  • Shuffle it over! I love ELO!

  • I love the three-minute silence at the end.

  • Always major respect for ELO playing on my 8-Track portable with the 15 D batteries. * CLICK * lol ;-)

  • and today there is justin my my what a shame

  • I just forgot how many great hits the Electric Light Orchaestra (ELO) has!!

  • Makes me want to get in my car and drive! Great band great driving tune
