@TimPrettyWild I didn't use a midi. I remade all the melodies by ear. Using a midi to make an 8-bit is something anyone could do, a remake is a lot more complicated. For what purpose do you need the notes? Because maybe I can help you in another way.
@jwktje bloody hell, by ear? i can do that sort of stuff on a bog standard orchestral instrument but on a computer with all of the timing annoyances? well done my friend, i can count you as one of the few that actually deserve the internet ;D
@jwktje Was about to make a cover of it with my band, but i didn't had any sucess finding a midi version of it. And i usually download midisongs and reedit em with a DAW to make arangements and so on.. So if you still have your midi file for this i would really want it :)
@jwktje Everything! well id really just like to know what equipment did you use, and if used a nintendo chip... well how would you go by doing that? i have no idea about anything on 8-bit but i would like to learn everything there is to know :) and if your english isnt good doesnt matter because your music speaks a language we can all understand x), but you can use subtitles i guess. lol
good job, obviously alot of these havent messed about with midi much, lol, however I do. and I like FL STUDIO, I have my pc fls interface controlled by my hardware. great tunes
No you have to use a tracker software or a studio like cubase or fruityloops. With that you load up the VSTi from YMCK. And then you play notes trough that. You have different waveforms and adjustment in the YMCK Plug. Different combinations make different sounds.
Use a sequencer software to build up every part of the song you try to 8Bittize. You could also try to feed a midi file through it. But slides and sharp notes are handled badly so it would probably sound horrible.
I agree it wouldn't sound great. But the fact still remains that I actually just need the physical notes, and best way to get them is through midi files. You get me? I don't know the notes to play :P

Can you set up a link with the actual midi file? i think many remixers would love that, including me!
jaidaniels 2 years ago
Best i can do for you is export every sequence as mp3 for remixing purposes.
Just the midi file would be useless as its just notes.
I use a VSTi to proces the notes i played so just a midi export of that is a bit useless.
Rockbustersgame 2 years ago
actually Garageband breaks down the sequence. a single midi is fine. I think Audacity does the same.
Trust me, its far from useless.

Also, many thanks for an mp3 file..i wil 8bittize a few songs too to see how they sound,
Do you just put the songs in the YMCK Plug or do you also need to adjust anything?
whaddahecko 2 years ago

jwktje 2 years ago
Hmmh..i understand half of that...
But, i have once seen program for the Nintendo DS that used some list which had all the notes on it and which instruments were playing,
Can u just change an instrument?
whaddahecko 2 years ago
For example. I use Fruity Loops as a sequencer.
I load up the YMCK plug in 6 different channels.
In the YMCK Plug you can adjust the waveform of the 8bit sound.
So I use the first one for square wave. Second for white Noise. Third for Triangle, Fourth for pulse and so on...
Then i listen to the original song and choose wich sound i'm gonna use for wich part of the melody.
Then i play out the melody on my midikeyboard or type them out note for note. Then i compile an MP3 and upload
