Don't know what you read on TU. But, most Golden Trout these days have been hybridized to some degree. It just happens over time. These were beautiful fish though, swimming up a feeder creek from Guitar Lake behind Mount Whitney.
Yah, right. I don't think they stock the feeder creek to Guitar Lake, which is on the west side of Mt. Whitney. Not exactly a roadside drop for Fish and Game.
Because I caught a dozen in about 5 minutes. Held them briefly in my hand for a quick inspection and digital snapshot, then released them.

They couldn't get very far up this little creek. I'm sure some were spawning there and others in the lake.
