  • Because I caught a dozen in about 5 minutes. Held them briefly in my hand for a quick inspection and digital snapshot, then released them.

  • how do we know those are even goldens?

  • the true golden trout live places a normal man wouldn't dream of going. really high mountain lakes where the water is very very clean and cold, these golden trout are just hybridized by fish and game to be able to live in areas that the true golden trout can't.

  • Don't know what you read on TU. But, most Golden Trout these days have been hybridized to some degree. It just happens over time. These were beautiful fish though, swimming up a feeder creek from Guitar Lake behind Mount Whitney.

  • wow nice what state is this in?

  • California. High Sierra.

  • They couldn't get very far up this little creek. I'm sure some were spawning there and others in the lake.

  • they were just stocked

  • Yah, right. I don't think they stock the feeder creek to Guitar Lake, which is on the west side of Mt. Whitney. Not exactly a roadside drop for Fish and Game.

  • nice hole

  • Nice:]
