@ringgold2951 OK we are both on the same page. I can see your the real deal. Not a Johnny come lately, as many on-line Philly types are these days. You were born and raised in the Philly street's like me, I see. Philly's in our blood, weather we like it or not, right?
@ringgold2951 Dam, your good. You even cought me in an error, one who lived in a home that I could actually visualize Marshall Street. Hold it, no I beliebe I'm am correct on the location of Marshall st. It's betwen 6th & 7th, not Popular & Girard. Now that I do know to be true. But I must say, you are dam good my friend.
Yes, I went to Ludow Elem. school. Attend St. Pete's church and lived on 1400 block of Frankin then to 7th & Thompson. Churches were left open 24-7 back then. I would go down the basment at St. Pete's and knee there for Hrs. Looking at John Bishope Neuman. Astor & Girard Movies were great too. Wonderful childhood memories (:
@ringgold2951 Wow, you actually lived on Frankin Street. Between Girard and Popular? No couldn't have been on that block, right? That was the old Jewisk market place back then, am I correct or what? But you have your memories of the bottom church down pat. Hell, your the real deal, like me. My Aunt was a nun, who started the St. Benadict's Thrift store rigth across the street from St. Pete's Church. It's still there.
I noticed Saint Peter's Church at 5th & Girard. I know it so well. Thank you for sharing this video. Many memories from my childhood in the 50s of my old home town.

@ringgold2951 Yep, that's it, and remember the bottom church and the glass coffen under the alter, where you can see the body of Saint John Neuman. Crazy stuff. But I like it, I grew up a half a block from Girard and 5th on Randolph Street, between 5th & 6th Street's. Know the spot? Yes, it's got a great vib in that neighborhood, u can feel the gost of the past.
That is a PCC car, they were built between 1936 and 1941 just prior to our entry in to World War 2! This new design become the standard for streetcars, they were also referred to as "Presidents cars". There was a big gathering one year where all the transit company heads met to discuss ways to improve there transit systems, and they unanimously approved this new streamlined design for use on there transit systems nationwide.
You bet-cha (:

How much for an apartment in that part of town? I love trolleys. I have taken a day trip out there just to ride them.
