I wish people would just accept the change. People hate on Tarja which intern leads to hate on Anette and then Vice Versa. Tarja and Anette get all the hate lets not forget this is a band of musicians not just two female singers. Why not place the blame on Toumas? In fact why not just forget about blaming and hating and instead appreciate the Raw dynamic powerful vocal ability that BOTH women poses and just ENJOY the music, life is to short, enjoy the talent whilst you can.

she improved on sleeping sun i will give her credit for that, but she has a lot of work yet to do on nemo. I keep hearing a "tarzan" yell towards the end of every lyric, and im sorry if you cant hear that, your either tone deaf or just go with things

I really like this live version. I would really like to see a live NW with Annette! Also, why does great music like this never get played on the radio here in the states? Its all teeny bopper sh*t and N*gger rap. I know I am going to get flamed for saying that, however I could care less. The music industry in the US has been in the toilet since 1995. After Kurt Cobain died, so did all of the good music played on the radio. Yes, these are two different types of music but still. Radio sucks now!

@KajolUrmila This is true. You look at cell phone clips from early in the tour and she was struggling with these songs. By the time I saw them in late 2008, she sounded great (and they thankfully had dropped Everdream from the set list. That song is not in the right key for her and the musicians stupidly did not change the key when she got in the band).
Every fucking video has a Tarja and Anette argument, just like Sonata with Jani and Elias. They're gone get over it, maybe Anette can't sing this like Tarja because she ISN'T Tarja, it's like asking a neurosurgeon to do heart surgery... He's not a heart surgeon.

That's debatable, the song was written with different vocals which Marco sang in the demo called "Reach", the original name for the song. THOSE vocals would probably be better sung by Tarja.
i gotta give it to annette she is really trying but sadly cant fill tarja's part for songs like this one but man she tries hard and does well...just aint right...this is one of the few songs i think tarja is better at
One of the good things about the NEMO song was when the vocals stop and the music just kept playing, but now is different and it sounds not epic at all. Miss Tarja :(
@la31416settecroche totally agree!!. Nightwish songs is from a opera type voice intended for that purpose, and lets face it, this new singer doesnt have that quality at all. Songs like this one are now more pop sounding songs and its just wrong IMO. If they wanted a new singer then find one with an operatic voice to do justice to the songs. Oh well, at least we got the memories.

Yeah I'm lost because I heard her improvement, Anette's a nice girl, she has a refresching voice.
But for me, Nightwish needs a deeper voice. I'm a fan since the begining, NW used to make me feel and shiver. Tuomas writing is for Tarja. I don't know what happened (maybe Traja's mariage) but the falling begun with them.

Another thing, a metal concert, it's not forcing people to scream or react! (thats pop ^^) You never say hey hey before an instrumental part, you let people listening the sound especially Nightwish! Emppu is a god with his guitar! We hear hardly with anette! And she's always out of breath and there is a huge difference between the albums and live shows! (show the level of a singer) She tries to keep track of Tarja's operatic style in the old songs but she should realize that it works not!
Does someone can explain to me the choice of the group with Anette? I still do not understand the group wants to do the kind of Evanescence? for teenagers or what? they want to follow the wave Tokio Hotel? Do they really believe they will keep their fans who encourage them since their beginning? the problem that i see with annete is that nightwish is not going to be able to play some of the old songs live again we have to remember that tarja was a soprano and there was some songs that she singed with her full soprano voice like phantom of the opera or ghost love score
Anette is a soprano as well... a light soprano... the thing is anette sings in her actual voice not using falsette 98% por of the time like tarja... perhaps she has to lower it an octave, but she'll do it alright, and she has so far
I didn't listen nightwish befor but when im listening to the old Nemo LIVE (with old singer) is this LIVE version better. Thats my opinion and im not a nightwishfan.
Overall. Annette is doing her own thing with the songs. The guys who are amazing reworked the songs for her into a style thats different, but not horrible.
We all will miss Tarja for what she brought, but Annette is bringing something different. Sometimes she sings the old stuff in a different way thats refreshing and does it her style.
People should not argue about it, because these are two very different women and both brought something cool to the band
I seriously agree with that, women here who are famous for their bodies and not their talent! Whereas Europe is really good at putting people out there who want to sing because it's their passion not just for money.
I agree with you about the Anette/Tarja thing too. They're too different to be compared fairly and they're both amazing anyway, so who cares if they're different?! Sometimes change is the best thing for a band and I think this was a good change. Learn to love them both.
you´re right but nightwish without tarja is not the real nightwish because anette doesn´t have tarja´s voice and so come the band more to rock and is not symphonic metal anymore
@Arkanix Well, I agree to that, but at least Tarja had the more soundful voice. Her songs just had more in it and her voice gave Nightwish his own style. With the new singer the style changes - not in a bad way, but its just different. I myself consider Tarja as the better choice, because she was something special and she made Nightwish something different, which is the reason that I loved her songs. But, as I said, Anette is not bad, bud she just cant fit the size of Tarja (and her voice).

I agree there, but Anette was no downtrip for the band if you know what I mean. My opinion is that Tarja was more metal (like you said) and that she was more of that oprah-kind. But I kind of like Anette better. Tarja showed more of a gothic kind of energy when singing, Anette was more of the "lighter" one, and Anette also has another way of singing their songs, which I like more.
Anettes Stimme ist ein wenig flach und ihr fehlt die Kraft die Tarja an den Tag gelegt hat. Tarja hatte mehr WUMMS, mir gefällt Anette trotzdem auch gut und ich schaue mal sie in Zukunft noch so bringen wird. Tarja zu ersetzen ist eben schwer bis unmöglich.
Yeah. I find that most of our commercial femail vocalists feel like they need to show sex and talent second. I know we in Canada and in the States have some really good female vocalists. We really do!!! But lets face it, if they are good, they will remain undiscovered or hidden, when Europe seems to take the talent and put it out there. While their women are beautiful, they are not just images. They are actual talents that can sing live.
Anette is very talented, but its not easy to step on Tarja's shoes. I personally really enjoy both voices, and I think what Anette has done with Pain is truly amazing, besides PatP has some amazing songs. But still, nightwish wishout tarja feels like Maiden without Bruce....
Hard to do that where Tarja is the original singer and she is on EVERY album except for the last one. If Anette was comparable in talent and ability, it'd be easier to accept her, but she's not, she's flat out awful at times.
Not only that, but we are constantly reminded of the animosity between the band and Tarja with their song Bye Bye Beautiful and the constant reference to the open letter which they still have up on their site.
Perhaps if NW decided to "get over it", it'd be easier for the general public to do the same, if it were in fact possible to "get over" the fact they replaced an extraordinary performer with exceptional ability with a run of the mill pop vocalist who has problems with her voice in live performances.
Annette isn't even a pop vocalist, she'd be lucky to make it past the audition stage on a TV talent show. Something must've really flipped in Tuomas's head for him to hire her, she's atrocious.

That's debatable, the song was written with different vocals which Marco sang in the demo called "Reach", the original name for the song. THOSE vocals would probably be better sung by Tarja.

@la31416settecroche totally agree!!. Nightwish songs is from a opera type voice intended for that purpose, and lets face it, this new singer doesnt have that quality at all. Songs like this one are now more pop sounding songs and its just wrong IMO. If they wanted a new singer then find one with an operatic voice to do justice to the songs. Oh well, at least we got the memories.

For me Nightwish was put on stand by after "End of an Era", just waiting the return of a singer who is worthwhile, the group is not complete, sorry
This is only MY opinion, I'm not a fan of groups who want groopies, I'm looking for groups who have something, I'm a fan of Nightwish from the beginning, it was unique but Anette broke dreams ... it's basic now
And I am sure DPP would work very well with Tarja even better (7days to the wolves, Amarath would have be awome)

Yeah I'm lost because I heard her improvement, Anette's a nice girl, she has a refresching voice.
But for me, Nightwish needs a deeper voice. I'm a fan since the begining, NW used to make me feel and shiver. Tuomas writing is for Tarja. I don't know what happened (maybe Traja's mariage) but the falling begun with them.
Something is broken, people can say whaterver they want, NW lost it soul...
That's why (except for Escapist) I listen instrumental version now, wainting for the next album...

Another thing, a metal concert, it's not forcing people to scream or react! (thats pop ^^) You never say hey hey before an instrumental part, you let people listening the sound especially Nightwish! Emppu is a god with his guitar! We hear hardly with anette! And she's always out of breath and there is a huge difference between the albums and live shows! (show the level of a singer) She tries to keep track of Tarja's operatic style in the old songs but she should realize that it works not!

I still do not understand the group wants to do the kind of Evanescence? for teenagers or what? they want to follow the wave Tokio Hotel? Do they really believe they will keep their fans who encourage them since their beginning? Traja's voice was a challenge and the group went well (musically speaking) I would not hesitate to increase Tarja, she is unique! it's worth it! the group with Anette down the ladder there

Tuomas wanted to make a change on Nigtwish but everyone knows that they cant stop playing the old ones. Anette sings well HER songs. i dindn´t say that. i said that each one songs well her songs. If you listen Tarja doesn´t sing well some low tones ( as Slayinf the Dreamer the first part ) and Anette sucks at high tones ( ever dream, dark chest of wonders, etc). Tuomas wanted to make a change on Nightwish, but he should have thought on the older songs. the problem that i see with annete is that nightwish is not going to be able to play some of the old songs live again we have to remember that tarja was a soprano and there was some songs that she singed with her full soprano voice like phantom of the opera or ghost love score

Overall. Annette is doing her own thing with the songs. The guys who are amazing reworked the songs for her into a style thats different, but not horrible.
We all will miss Tarja for what she brought, but Annette is bringing something different. Sometimes she sings the old stuff in a different way thats refreshing and does it her style.
People should not argue about it, because these are two very different women and both brought something cool to the band

I seriously agree with that, women here who are famous for their bodies and not their talent! Whereas Europe is really good at putting people out there who want to sing because it's their passion not just for money.
I agree with you about the Anette/Tarja thing too. They're too different to be compared fairly and they're both amazing anyway, so who cares if they're different?! Sometimes change is the best thing for a band and I think this was a good change. Learn to love them both.

@Arkanix Well, I agree to that, but at least Tarja had the more soundful voice. Her songs just had more in it and her voice gave Nightwish his own style. With the new singer the style changes - not in a bad way, but its just different. I myself consider Tarja as the better choice, because she was something special and she made Nightwish something different, which is the reason that I loved her songs. But, as I said, Anette is not bad, bud she just cant fit the size of Tarja (and her voice).

I agree there, but Anette was no downtrip for the band if you know what I mean. My opinion is that Tarja was more metal (like you said) and that she was more of that oprah-kind. But I kind of like Anette better. Tarja showed more of a gothic kind of energy when singing, Anette was more of the "lighter" one, and Anette also has another way of singing their songs, which I like more.

Anettes Stimme ist ein wenig flach und ihr fehlt die Kraft die Tarja an den Tag gelegt hat. Tarja hatte mehr WUMMS, mir gefällt Anette trotzdem auch gut und ich schaue mal sie in Zukunft noch so bringen wird. Tarja zu ersetzen ist eben schwer bis unmöglich.

Yeah. I find that most of our commercial femail vocalists feel like they need to show sex and talent second. I know we in Canada and in the States have some really good female vocalists. We really do!!! But lets face it, if they are good, they will remain undiscovered or hidden, when Europe seems to take the talent and put it out there. While their women are beautiful, they are not just images. They are actual talents that can sing live.

Anette is very talented, but its not easy to step on Tarja's shoes. I personally really enjoy both voices, and I think what Anette has done with Pain is truly amazing, besides PatP has some amazing songs. But still, nightwish wishout tarja feels like Maiden without Bruce....

Hard to do that where Tarja is the original singer and she is on EVERY album except for the last one. If Anette was comparable in talent and ability, it'd be easier to accept her, but she's not, she's flat out awful at times.
Not only that, but we are constantly reminded of the animosity between the band and Tarja with their song Bye Bye Beautiful and the constant reference to the open letter which they still have up on their site.

Perhaps if NW decided to "get over it", it'd be easier for the general public to do the same, if it were in fact possible to "get over" the fact they replaced an extraordinary performer with exceptional ability with a run of the mill pop vocalist who has problems with her voice in live performances.
