  • how accurate at 100yds? smoothbore, and can. you shoot them throught rifled barrel?

  • @youthunter Not sure if I can find a rifled shotgun, I'll keep my eyes out. We are planning more testing tomorrow and will be doing some long shots with some modified waxers, plus a lot of other tests viewers have suggested we do.

  • Couldn't have happened to better brand of HD. Maxtor's are terrible. I sent one back for warranty replacement twice before giving up and shooting the third full of holes when it died too.

  • How about you test this against a steel plate?

  • i'd like to dream about what this could do to a ppotus, that visualization would have made my 3 hour, 14 mile commute home tolerable yesterday. (i could have jogged home faster!)

too bad you don't have a few live hogs to do a comparison test between crayon and solid slug, not suggesting you have to go "whole hog" for us viewers/subscribers... LOL

  • @mrbadx19 A guy at work suggested I try them on a pig head. That would be nasty lol

  • Firearms are a lot of fun, and you guys prove that, in this great video.Keep 'em coming.

  • That platter's crazy, AMAZING shot

  • @krazykarl9z2 Thanks!

  • @krazykarl9z2 Thanks!

  • OMG ... what a huge hole :)

  • @MFGKirchdorf That's what he said ;)

  • This is stuff for discovery!!

  • Shooting harddrives? with the prices they're at now? You're a madman.

  • my mum wants to destroy our old hard drive because it has all our personal stuff on it and we have a new family computer. looks like i should come to you Jeff lol

  • @90909009 It is important to destroy all data on an old HD. This seems to work pretty well!

  • @taofledermaus i just beat mine with a sledge hammer and light it on fire :D\

  • If you can please make a vid out of the dying art of "cut shotgun shells" and the damage a regular bird shot shell will do after it is "cut".I did not know of or hear of a "cut shell" until I seen some old timers doing it on utube.Check out some of the vids on this if you don't already know about it.Thanks alot and maybe you can make a vid on them.

  • @profsat5 Iraqveteran posted that video and we've discussed cut and wax shotgun stuff and he said a cut shell shouldn't be used in a pump shotgun, which I have. I imagine the results would be pretty similar to these waxers. They probably would fly straighter than these though.

  • @taofledermaus

    was that an remmington 1100

    my dad has one

  • @elflordbob1 It is a Mossberg 590.

  • @taofledermaus

    a very nice gun

Do you use it for hunting??

  • @elflordbob1 I'm not much of a hunter.

  • In addition to the damage, I was quite impressed with the aim. Nice Shot!

  • @bowlingballout I didn't really show it but he managed an impressive headshot on a doll from over 50 feet away with a shotgun with pretty much no sights on it.

  • You can use wax from scented candles too...that way your gun has that nice "fresh" smell afterwards

  • @CasioEXF1Freak Haha, true. My wife gave me a bunch of her "stinky" candles she didn't want today.

  • @CasioEXF1Freak If you dont like the person you are launching them at, use EAR WAX...

  • Nice precision camera work. You gents don't get thanked enough for the effort you put forth.

  • @14goldmedals Thank you! I have a lot of fun doing this and appreciate that people watch it.

  • holy crap! Before you even said it, I said to myself "sheesh, it blew the freaking platters out of the back!" I wonder how that would perform in ballistic gel? It's like a giant Glaser Safety Slug.

  • @PsychoticBovine I would be pretty amazing to shoot it at some ballistics gel. I hope Tnoutdoors sees this and gives it a try. He's really THE guy to do it IMHO.

  • Interesting study, thank you for the effort and the excellent production.

  • @theKGB65 Thanks sir!

  • P.C. pieces...

    cool experiment.

  • @MrColt45acp I'm really blown away at the hole in the last hard drive. A golf ball can fit through it. Hard drives are pretty tough.

  • you ever go to the turkey shoots out at the ag center in Tulare around thanksgiving?

  • @yourmomgotpwned Never made it out for that. In May the City of Tulare is going to have some sort of demolition exhibition there, blowing up cars and stuff. I'm going to try to make it to that and film it.

  • @taofledermaus hmm exploding cars, i will need to remember to go to that thing.

  • @yourmomgotpwned I don't think it is open to the public, but we might be able to still see it at a distance. I heard they are going to blow up and old ambulance too. I think the Visalia PD SWAT team is going to help out too.

  • I always used canning wax but melted crayons would be a lot stronger.

  • You cant be doing this its the 'Hard drive crisis!' lol only joking..

  • you naughty daddy, you stole ma crayons!

  • @TheHiddenPart The kids wouldn't get caught dead using the crayons anymore so it worked out well.

  • @taofledermaus well, if it's for the children...

I agree anyway, one of the best filming and aim in the history of Taofledermaus!

  • @TheHiddenPart Do you have a shotgun? Try it if you do. Thanks for the nice words, but my aiming still sucks! lol

  • @taofledermaus I will! The only thing that bothers me is..

those cut shells were originally used by hunters as a "last ditch" cartridge when slugs were unavailable.

but.. who wants to eat wax in their meat?

  • Is this bad for the shotgun?

  • @LocutusIsBorg no its good for the gun actually. Because it cleans the barrel out.

  • @LocutusIsBorg Not at all. It's really no different than shooting the birdshot shells themselves. The wax never really contacts the barrel since it is inside the wad-cup.

  • @taofledermaus Ah, I didn't even think of that. XD

  • Thanks cool what a little bit of wax will do. I'll have to try this!

  • @ALLThingsEastCoast It is pretty impressive. It's like turning your shotgun into an artillary piece. I'm a hard guy to please but I was really surprised.

  • could u use these in a full choke? because mine are fixed

  • @georgeevans18 I believe so. I think Iraqvet was shooting them 100 yards through a choke. That's an impressive distance for these rounds.

  • I think you lost some data...

  • @jebbadiah lol

  • That's the way to mark your target.....

  • @joham22 lol, that's true!

  • @taofledermaus Havent heard from Travis yet. Will keep you posted....

  • @joham22 With my lousy luck it will be on a weekend I am working.

  • @taofledermaus Lets hope not. Great vids like always. Thanks Jeff

  • very impressive ,i shoot all my old hard drives ,i figured theyed just come unglued when i shot my first one ,not so ,there tough little boogers

  • @thechevyscrounger They really are great targets. They are very tough, with multiple layers of various metals.

  • great for a crime scene, the victim was killed by a crayola with lil pellets mixed in, let the ballistics lab figger that one out!

i just got a new "baby browning" last saturday night, i'm scrawny and can just get one finger around the grip! i'll make a vid soon.

  • @mrbadx19 Cool, can't wait to see it!

  • as a computer lover, i feel sad for those hard drive being shot. its wasted even tho its broken.

  • Ill go with slugs

  • I love the Barbie leg at the end.

  • Man if you test this wax slug on sim-test or ballistics gel that would be very interesting to see.

  • Hmm.. A whole new mean of hard drive breach... Now I would love to see if someone could physically create a firewall breach....

  • What's the recoil like compared to regular slugs?

  • @gunporn68 it's the same recoil as the birdshot round it was made from. thats why i love wax slugs, relatively low recoil that packs an effing punch.

  • @drumONdrugs23 Yes, exactly. We blew through about 3 boxes of these without any sore shoulders.

  • @gunporn68 Much lighter. It is about the same as a target load. You can shoot these comfortably all day long.

  • melted crayons! that is a great idea, I will definitely have to try that! Good stuff!

  • @Patos145 I figured it would be a good way to see them better in high speed. I didn't have enough orange or yellow crayons so many were still dark colored.

  • looks like the central valley? san joaquin county area? I live here as well

  • @fordxbgtfalcon Yeah, this was near Ivanhoe.

  • @taofledermaus lol, this made me hum the Ivanhoe (black/white version) theme :)

  • Nice. I was just thinking that this would be a great video to make!

  • me gusta

  • Great video as always! Love it when you do breakdowns!

  • you should test your home made rounds on an actual door lock assemblies. Great vid as always!

  • Ive just gotta ask, did you get this idea from IraqVeteran8888 ?

  • @JQxSquared Yes, I credited him in my first video yesterday.

  • Don't forget to grab the baddass fridge magnets out of the hard drives... if they're still intact?

  • @jimrbsn I know right!

  • And now you send me a video of how to cast those wax slugs! Yay!

  • those things are nasty!

  • love those wax rounds :D
