For example Heavy Rain is a locked game save. You have to do a full backup on a flashdrive or external hardrive to save it.

Just got a PS3 Slim. I reflowed my 60gb 2 times due to ylod. So I will now use it very minimally. The Slim only has usb ports, keep that in mind. You can get a 2gb flash drive for about $12USD. If you paid for downloadable content through psn you can download it again for free through psn, which I'm doing right now. Yes, you should be able to copy files from your hard drive to usb. Type in djwhetzhel and you can fix ylod yourself. I did it and I'm a technical moron. Hope this helps.

thats saved on your psn account itself. so if your ps3 died and you buy a new one, all you need is log into that account and its still the same

Go to the XMB-Game save Data or something like that-Press triangle I think-and hit copy. Your data should be back.

I'm not in front of my PS3 at the moment so try and figure it out the best you can using the guidelines above.

how big of a usb drive do you need?

depends how many saves you have. If you have many saves I would recommend a 4-8gb drive but if you only have a few you can get by with a 1-4 gb drive.

i downloaded a save and tryed to extract it and it went in my ps3 folder as "export". i put my flash drive in the ps3 and it didnt show up. i made a new folder inside the "savedata" folder and put the save in their but the ps3 read it as corrupted data

when you save a game save on the usb it comes as a zip file do you extract it. also the folders are arrenaged like this right PS3→SAVEDATA please answer bak

When you download a ps3 game save or back up your own, it does come up as Zip file. It does show up as PS3->Savedata. When its on the usb drive, you just have to place it into the ps3 and then I belive you go to your XMB and go to Game->Savedata->then select your USB drive. It should then say copy if you push Triangle.
