  • the original was so much better..... why did lucas have to attempt to make the old movies fast and mindless like the new ones. also by not shopwing the monster with the arm cut off you assume luke killed it! yet in the remaster why did it not chase after luke?... why didnt vader recognize r2? obi does remember owing a droid...r2d2? vader dont recognize 3-po he built? lol.

  • Like if youre here because of the skyrim easter egg

  • damn this movie is just too damn awesome!!!

  • is this scene in reference to the Skyrim dungeon?

  • @13ennnnnnn Yea. Skyrim wanted to put that in there.

  • like if you came here from TeamLag

  • This happend to me then i took a arrow to the knee...

  • been a while that i watch this scene, how did that guy got stuck in the snow like that? I also think the monster should start feasting on him!

    fatality!

  • this is how i feel when i can't reach the TV remote

  • Ok. I give up. What's the difference?

  • What's teamlag?

  • @TheGingerLow a gaming channel that did a skyrim easter egg video

  • TEAAAAAM LAAAAAG

  • TeamLAG

  • @DoktorIKowalski Life's a glitch!

  • @rectusdominus666 Han never liked the closed cockpit of craft like Speeders. Besides at this point they were still being modified to survive the cold. His only choice was a Tauntaun.

  • ii came here from skyirim

  • One of the most exciting scenes of all star wars

  • Oh Come on! I thought the way it was redone on the dvds where u see the wompa with his missing arm, i thought it was way better! here its almost like they've gone back to the original with acception of a few shots. oh well, you cant please everyone, but i know which one i prefer.

  • Hoth=not rad.

  • don't like the new colouring, you take away the blue and it looks like it was shot in a studio, which takes away the realism.

  • It's still messed up.

1:24 Once Luke turns on his Lightsaber, you hear the sound of two lightsabers turning on.

It still looks a bit white. It should be a bit more blue.

  • solo just drive a speeder or anything except the goddamn goat kangaroo

  • 0:04 it always bothered me when he said "i'll see you in hell!" because this takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far away so for him to have a concept of hell, which is religion, is just not right, but i still love star wars, especially this episode

  • I somehow Obi-wan speaking to Luke in an early version when he was trying to pull his lightsaber free of the ice, saying something like "Luke, think the saber to your hand." Or was that just my mind playing tricks on me?

  • lucas sucks

  • I agree with these people, it's a movie, I don't care about edits(much). Star Wars is gonna be awesome even if Greedo shoots first, Jabba is in A New Hope, Luke's LS in ANH is green for a sec, Hayden is in ROTJ, Prequels exist, Jar Jar is awesome, and everything else!!!! I DON'T CARE!!!

P.S A real error that needs fixing is in YouTube known as the moronic, idiotic, pointless, stupid, annoying, not-even-funny: "DON'T READ THIS COS IT ACTUALLY WORKS...".

  • People should just stop saying how all of Lucas' changes seriously affects the whole movie. Who cares? The whole han shot first thing is so stupid. It's just a movie.

  • wow. just a movie scene and people having hernias. get a life.

  • how did the wampa stick luke up there?

  • Scary scene for me as a kid

  • It's hilarious (but also kinda sad) to see the degree to which you nerds will argue in the comments section about how Lucas ruined everything/didn't ruin everything by adding the shots of the Wampa. Get a life.

  • @VicInNocal what's wrong with having an opinion on film-making. The original Star Wars trilogy inspired a lot of up and coming film-makers in its original form. What is wrong with debating whether the impact of certain scenes of a classic film is changed by adding footage that was not originally there? Modern films have so many visual possibilities that almost nothing is left to the imagination, everything is spelled out for you in big bright letters. This is a valid debate.

  • @VicInNocal troll fail

  • Yes!! That's exactly the sort of cut those guys over in Marin County should've done... the sterile "cut'n'paste" job they did for the '97 special eds were... were just BLAUGH!!! Fantastic job.

  • I just watched the first 16 minutes of ESB:R. Everything looks great, except for the Wampa cave scene. Now, I don't like what Lucas did with the Special Editions and I thing Adywan is doing some great and impressive work, but the Wampa cave scene should have remained as it was. Lucas got it right with this scene. I know it's about making the movie look more like the original, but it's also about improvement and the SE version was an improvement in my opinion.

  • @Lorinion the SE version wasn't an improvement. The original version always kept the Wampa as this mysterious creature that you just caught brief glimpses of. When the SE was done the added shots took that away and it now became an "in your face" addition. Sometimes less is more.

  • @adywanuk I do understand how keeping the creature mysterious can make it more frightening. The problem, in my opinion, is that there is no tension in the original shot. Maybe if the was a scene where, on the cave wall, you could see the shadow of the Wampa eating, so you knew things were about to get nasty... It's just not as scary as watching the damn thing savagely devour the tauntaun. Anyway, it's just a thought...

  • 1:30 "Me wanted 2 play snowmonster ball, but now forget it!"

  • Huh??...how come at first it sounds like the wampa and taun taun are deeper in the cave then you see a scene where they're basically right over there. Plus you STILL hear the taun taun even though it's eaten up! FUCKIN' SPECIAL EDITIONS!!!!

  • @fireoutlaw23 Yeah, I didn't get that either... It's not as if it's an oversight or anything. If Lucas was so intent on giving it a rework he should have just edited out the sound of the tauntaun after you see the Wampa munching on it! Bizarre!

  • Wampa should've had more blood and gorey bits of flesh on it's fur.... That would've made it more scary... and hey...! if you got a light saber... you don't have to run from nothing !!!! I'd be roasting Wampa....!

  • "GET YOUR OWN TAUN-TAUN!!"

  • I haven't seen the original version in so long what is the difference in this scene to the current version?

  • @tommynicks You never get a full body shot of the Wampa. Lucas added that. COMPLETELY unecessary. You don't see him eating and they don't show him after Luke cuts the arm off. Apparently Lucas doesn't realize the Wampa was a lot scarier in the original version.

  • @Chrisdrumz Apparently you didn't realize that, if Lucas had been able to get the suit to work, the original version would have never been made. While I agree the original was superior, I'm tired of listening to internet tossers second guess Lucas about how he merely tinkers for the sake of tinkering.

  • @NeroBlack2200 "Internet tossers"? Wow. If you are so tired of listening(reading) all the complaints i'd suggest you stop going to ANY SW related YouTube clips because it will just lead to madness. Lucas has given us "tossers" WAY too much to complain about since 1997. Anyway,if you agree with me about the original being superior why complain about me voicing my opinion? The only person who seems to have been unhappy with the original was Lucas. Kirshner didn't seem to have a problem with it.

  • @Chrisdrumz Kirshner understood exactly what he was directing and exactly why he was directing it. Lucas chose him, and while it was his film, it wasn't his created property. And I'm complaining about your opinion in this specific instance because it's one-sided. Lucas added the shots of the Wampa in the special edition because he couldn't make it work in the late 1970s, not because he thought it up the night before he shot it.

  • @NeroBlack2200 Of course my opinion is one sided,it's MY opinion. His original vision of the scene is far inferior to what ended up in the original,it's GOOD it didn't work the first time! I'm sure his underlings were aware of the insipidness of the SE version but like so much of what he has done, nobody calls him out. They HAD to be grumbling behind closed doors during his whole Greedo shooting desecration as well. Now he's doing this 3D thing. THAT oughtta be interesting.

  • @Chrisdrumz A one-sided opinion is a FALSE opinion. You've just rendered your argument null and void. I have no respect for your side of this debate, because you can't be bothered to even acknowledge the existence of a perspective that differs from your own. You see Lucas as a tinkering, obsessive-compulsive idiot, so it makes sense to you that every other human being must also believe this, or else be fundamentally wrong. Not differing in opinion or taste. WRONG.

    This discussion is over.

  • @NeroBlack2200 LOL! I never said Lucas was an idiot(most certainly obsessive compulsive though). Oh man, some people get WAY too wrapped up in this stuff.

    Yes,this discussion IS over

  • @NeroBlack2200 actually you are wrong. The shots they couldn't get the suit to work was only the attack on the rebel base and when it attacks luke and drags him off. Th big reveal was to have been when the creatures break through the walls of the base and a short battle begins. This scene also had a few extra shots originally filmed but in the end it was edited this way, so you only catch glimpses of the creature, to create tension and suspense. The SE version took that away.

  • @adywanuk Then why do you suppose Lucas didn't reshoot THAT sequence?

  • @NeroBlack2200 because that scene just didn't work. They only filmed some sections of it, so to complete it so that the attack scene could fit into the film they would have not only have had to build a whole new set, and not just a section, but also the way the film became edited meant that the place where this scene would have originally have fitted could no longer fit (it was in between 3P0 quizzing Han about Luke and Han leaving on his Taun Taun.

  • @adywanuk Blah. I had a retort, but I don't see the point. I've got to stop leaving comments like these. By the time I'm done posting them, I don't even care about the argument anymore.

  • @Chrisdrumz He can do whatever he wants with his movies! If you really hate it then just watch the original versions they released. Damn.

  • how did luke get out the ice? he did not even cut himself out he just held his lightsaber and fell

  • He should've sabred his head off and slept in the cave, must be warmer than outside?

  • @BleedPlox but it has kids :( XD

  • I watched the Theatrical release a couple of days ago and I can't really see a difference.

  • I don't understand why Luke didn't kill the Wampa and hang out in his cave for the night.

  • Wow. I´m stunned!

  • I personally missing the crunching noises the wampa makes while chewing.

  • this is so much better than the original scene

  • Looks nice. I'm not exactley sure what you did? Just took the blue out? Although it was a liitle odd to see the Wampa eating while we are also hearing hin Roar.

  • @jayce79 Think it's a girl...

  • @jayce79 The wampa in the cave.

  • @heresthadude1080

    OkieeDokey.

  • great color absolutely. one question though will these ever be released to watch? Would love to have those 2 movies to watch on a burnt disc.

  • Episode 4 has been available since early 2008. Ep5 won't be available until mid 2010

  • Anxiously awaiting this one !! Hope to see it soon !
