  • He is grear dancer ! I like English Ballet Dancers so mutch ! :)

    Good work !

  • Great !!!

  • I love the double tour after the pirouettes: looks like an entrechat trois with a double turn. Very cool!

  • @JeremyNasmith agree spectacular

  • Bravo Joseph, no mistake.

  • very good big tecnique

  • i want his tight bod!

  • he ended like he was doing flames of paris haha

  • this guy is alot better than corella imo... actually i dont think corella is that good... watch corella do a double capriole to the back... it looks like two bugs having sex for crying out loud!! and corellas spins have no control btw...

  • He has very good technique, but his dance doesn't give me the same emotions as if I watch, for example, Ruzimatov or Corella... I'm sorry. However, that was really very very goog and he'll sure improove.

  • i think he will get better as he ages. Artistry is something the comes with experience! and he is quite young here =)

  • Joseph, I hope you will get inspirations from YURI SOLOVIEV's Solor variation which has been posted by ilyaballet on youtube. You can just do a "Soloviev ballet" search and you'll come across it! Keep up the great work.

  • I danced in one of the "Regional Dance America" pieces during the competition. Unfortunately we were not there from the start or I could have seen this live!

you simply come alive when the audience applauses...beautiful

  • It's really odd how everyone becomes experts in critizing other dancers' techniques, some even posted negative comments. I saw him perform at SFB many times, but this season he'll dance with Miami Ballet. Every dancer takes time to develop and grow, he will be better. If you guys watch a dance clip and expect a pure perfection, there's no such. There's always room for improvement no matter how perfect it looks. Keep it up, Joseph!

  • HE JUST GOT SIGNED AS A PRINCIPLE TO ABT

  • I like Josheph's dancing, but he just left SFB (as a corp)and joined Miami Ballet this season (as a soloist). I personally don't think his dancing has matured so fast up to ABT's principal caliber. I wonder how you got the information. ABT has known to hire principal dancers from other companies as SOLOISTS and see how they adapt, before promoting them to principals.

  • ABT actually hires dancers as principals, with the exception that these dancers have alreadly been international stars, such as Nina Ananiashvili, Jose Manuel Carreño, Diana Vishneva. Even Angel Corella started with ABT as soloist, and got promoted to principal a following year. ABT has high standard, the company is supposed to employ some of the best dancers in the world

  • he was a soloist at sfb i thought he did alot of principle and soloist roles there and he just awarded one of the best male dancers in america or the world or somthin in moscow i talked to his teacher and he rejected miami city i is wat he told me???

  • no hes in the corps de ballet

  • Dear God. You're full of yourself, but for damn good reason;) At 22, not many guys have such maturity in their dancing. All your posts show your strength. Thanks for putting such awesome stuff up on YouTube. The best companies are too good at keeping their stuff off here. Btw, are you this good at partnering? If so, are you for hire? ;)

  • This guy can jump and turn!! SO WHAT!!! You have just done this kick ass solo and he gets up like a loser and bows like he hadnt done anything. Technique is what shows if your a good dancer or not and sorry but josephs isn't great. After his jettes he lands turned in and his back foot after doing barrels are flexed. If you want to watch someone actually dance look up "Carlos Acosta"!!!

  • Hey man, this is a friend of mine, and he's a kickass dancer, he's actually a pretty good technician. (I would know, i went to school with him). People don't talk trash when they watch you dance, and you haven't even won an internationally acclaimed ballet competition.

  • Parabéns!!! Você é excelente!!!

  • alight you guys are right i guess i stand corrected but i just love correllas passion thats why joseph is gonna hate me now for saying that

  • I don't think anyone should be compared. Corella is all ready an international ballet sensation.

  • dude carlos haha corrella is old man he couldnt do that stuff anymore id go for correllas passion over joseph any day although i think joseph is amazing.

  • totally agree. he keeps going on about that ???? i'd like to see this guy in a performance. competitions don't count for how much or how good one is an artist. competitions ar like... 5000 turns win you a medal... big deal

  • Corella suck joseph would rock him any day thats my opinion him brooklyn and carlos are the best dancers dont ,shit look wat he has done won gold medal. a circus he did a good job would you not like an audience like that AND WHEN DID CORELLA DO SOLOR I'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF HIM ATTEMPT IT HE CAN'T DO A DOUBLE CABIRIOLE LIKE THAT PLUS THEY ARE WAY DIFFRENT AND IN JOSEPH'S BARREL TURNS IVE NEVER SEEN A GUY POINT THERE BACK FOOT AND ANGEL'S FEET SUCK

  • I'm sure there are other dancers worse than Corella, He's really good already, why did you have to direct it at him? surely its something personal and not really about Corella's dancing.

  • Shut up you moron

  • Corella suck joseph would rock him any day thats my opinion him brooklyn and carlos best dancers dont hate shit look wat he has done and yall i dont mean to be a bitch, NCSA FO LIFE

  • very nice dude!!! good energy, right feeling.... just take care a bit to stay more turned out!! before jumps!!!

Keep up the great job. See ya

  • who is your coach?

  • Unpointed flexed foot on that final series - of course this is what the general public believes is classical ballet; all flash no substance.

  • angel and joseph are my two fav current dancers. pls keep posting!

  • I once saw an interview with Carla Fracci and she was asked who was the better partner Erik Bruhn or Rudolph Nureyev. Her answer, "Doesn't matter. You can't compare - They are different".

Same goes here. Angel Corella and Joseph Phillips are two different dancers and both bring a different energy and interpretation to their Solor.

    Beautiful turning sequence here.

  • ohhh god this is circus is not dancing and definitly not ballet. off the music (very disturrbing) unpoited feet on the maneje (the back one) and you might wanna know that what you're wearing is a Corsaire costume and you doing a Bayadere variation, very different things

  • oh and that is most def a solor costume it looks much like the corsaire one but its not, ncsa did kno some years ago ares was the same but everyones diffrent

  • I agree with Amarventris, still love Corella better, but you're definitely worth lots of applause. Very nice.

  • i clapped at home watching when i saw this. Not as frenetic as Corella, less electric, but extreme extreme quality. I liked the sciror flair in the tour. Cheers from a fan!

  • nicee.
