Great video... Very informative... I was given some tiger worms today (adults & babys) to start making compost, fingers crossed these little guys will do us good..
@graciefr I only add water when and if things dry out.. I know of people who add water but one needs to be careful not to drown the worms or to make their environment too wet.. Any extra worn juice produced by doing this will obviously be of a lesser concentration.
Usually there is enough moisture in the food waste but occasionally in mid summer things can become a little dry. A quick spray with the hose fixes that. Damp carpet on the top also helps to prevent moisture loss.
@justaddworms When using the worm juice, do you just use it like a fish fertilizer by pouring on top of the soil and watering it in, or do you want to mix it into the soil before planting? Do you use the worm's in your garden as well?
@Joe11Blue I dilute the juice at a 10x1 ratio in a watering can and then pour it around the root zone of my plants veggies etc. No as tiger worms won't survive for any length of time in ones garden. Hopes this helps ... cheers.
@justaddworms Ahh thanks for the reply. I've seen some guys using the worm's in Aquaponics setup's, and I have one setup already, so I will try them in there instead of the dirt garden. I have about 50 cubic yards of Steer Manure as well, but from what I can tell that has to be a gradual composting with the worms. Have you seen any setup's composting manure? Funny thing almost all of my info is coming from Aussies. You guy's have got it together down there.
@Joe11Blue No I haven't but I do feed our worms plenty of horse manure and they seem to do well with this. By the way I'm not an Aussie, I'm a Kiwi .... those little islands a bit further south ....
My bad, I heard the accent and you sounded just like my buddy from Aus, as well as some of my wife's family. Kiwi is far better IMO, no offense to Aussies. You guy's have better gun law's, but I'm an avid shooter. That's what held me back from moving to Aus this year. Have been considering NZ now. Have any room for some System's Engineers with lot's of gunsmithing experience? LOL!
Why do you put the food on one side only each week? Why not just cover the whole thing? I'm knew to this. Thanks

@TableWolfMusic This is so if the worms don't like something in the food they can go away.

I'd like create more worm tea. Is it ok to add water more regularly or is it not recommended?

do they need to be watered every now and then?

Great idea using the clippers. I've been using a food processor and it involves too much cleanup.

@mchlmrtz I used to do that as well but as I got greater numbers of worms I found it was too slow.
