  • Far better than any rock n' rool and country song! Awesome

    God bless you

  • Thanks for sharing this, and the tabs my friend. I really enjoyed listening to it, and want to learn i myself now!

  • Greetings from ECUADOR to you sir!!!

It is certainly a great version in guitar of that beautiful hymn of John Edgar Gould and Edward Hopper...

    I hope You are good.

    See you soon.

  • Lovelly. Thank you. I would like to hear you play it with nylon strings. The steel strings are a little too tinny for me, but that is just my preference. I love your playing.

  • I really enjoy your version. The version that i'm learning sounds a bit different and is a it simpler but this is excellent.

  • finally, a good acoustic cover of this beautiful melody!

  • very good !! greetings from germany

  • @Chriskay021 Guten Abend! :-)

  • i hear this tune played the organ just about every sunday morning, and i absolutely love your version. I love listening to your songs man!

  • @xJigglyTitanx It's a great tune, like many of those old hymn tunes - and just lends itself to a bit of fingerpicking!

    :-)

  • the smile at the end it's epic..keep playing... i arrived here looking for the original "nearer" but.... thnx for your music!

  • The part where you start playing the more upbeat part around 0:50 sounds similar to the Mississippi John Hurt version.

  • really great job! =)

  • wow that was amazing... i love this one...

  • Bethany version is so much better than hornbury...in my personal opinion, that is...

  • Great Job! =D Wirklich Großartig!

  • Beautiful.

  • Wow, this was awesome! Thanks for uploading this!

  • wow. very very good interpretation. i play guitar to and this is just way to inspiring.

  • Will: Excellent...nice guitar and wonderful pick'n; as usual THANKS for your work and posting.

  • You always make me smile. Thank you doing all these arrangements and for producing all these videos. Don't you ever sleep?

  • ZZZZZZZZZZ......... :-)

  • Will. Thanks for your arrangement and thanks for kindly agreeing to play one of my favourite John Hurt pieces. An added bonus was the Rev. Gary Davis influence. Your arrangement is a fitting tribute to two fine musicians, a credit to yourself, and a personal delight for me and other You Tubers. You clearly enjoyed playing it and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed listening and watching. Thank you.

  • My pleasure - thanks for the suggestion! :-)

  • Love it, Will, as with all of your works. Esp, that smile at the end, too! Thanks for sharing. kat

  • Glad you liked it, Kat! Love, Will :-)

    Regards.

    Kelvin

    Al

  • You may be good but,.....you're no Will Fly!

  • Mmm... you've lost me... :-)

  • Chet Atkins was once on a cruise ship sans guitar, while walking the deck he came upon a passenger strumming and asked to borrow the guitar. Chet, unrecognized, played a few tunes and returned the guitat to it's owner who replied, "You may be good but your no Chet Atkins"
