ALERT: Mystery Missile Launch Seen off Calif. Coast 11/09/2010

they launch a missile from an island in the pacific and test fire a ballistic intercepting rocket from that exact military base this "mystery missile" was near when it was launched. Ive seen it twice in my life, but I am 300-400 miles ne of there so I cant be certain about the size of it, they appeared to be moving way faster that a jumbo jet and left a rather distinctive vapor trail that ive yet to see come from any plane. but that doesnt mean that this is the same thing that i mentioned

Is it a contrail from a jet? NO. Why? (1) Because its on a vertical flight path and (2) because the contrail is too huge, unless the engines where on fire. How probable is the engines being on fire? 0.000000000000000000000000001%­.

Seems to be a temperature inversion layer to me. This is what happens when a cold front moves through warmer air at higher altitudes. It produces a column of airand smoke mixture as the two temperatures combine and you get what we see happened in this video. Nothing here to see. Move along, move along...

Asia KNOW you can do it, and isn't it funny that there just happened to be a helicopter there to film it, if you look at the footage there is another helicopter hovering even nearer to the launch site.

@yakacm Um, no its not funny at all. Theres helicopters ALL OVER that area ALL THE TIME. Theres a ton of military bases in that area, one of them being CAMP Pendleton which has 4 squadrons of helicopters flying all over the coast, day and night. I know because I used to work on and fly in those helicopters.

@Musicmaker703 Also, a commercial jet doesn't climb at that rate, even if it is climbing away from you. Jet contrails only form at high, cold altitudes, they do not extend from lower altitudes and head upward.
