Its hooves look amazinig for me, I hope that after few courses of "making" hooves naturally and hours spend on doing it will make my horse hooves like hooves of your friend's horse.
What a gorgeous, healthy, ground grabbing, shock absorbing heel-first landing!!!
Any farrier who cannot see the perfect physiological expression of truly healthy hooves is not being honest with himself or with the horses he claims to service.
BEWARE !!!! anyone thinking of attending the RED TOMLINSON school of horseshoeing, DON'T DO IT. RED IS A THIEF! He hides behind PO boxes, emails and cell phones so you can't track him down once you give a deposit. He will NEVER call you back with a time or place to meet for your first class.
@semtech30 All my horses are barefoot and trek out over mountainous rocky terrain over 100 km´s a week ridden as well as covering around 20 km´s every day in their paddocks. I compete in endurance barefoot. Does that fall in to your ´part time´ catagory? My main competition horse trains 5 days a week at least 2 hours of trot and canter every session on hard ground BAREFOOT and completely sound
@semtech30@semtech30 I´m not alone. There are 1000´s of endurances horses doing this kind of training and more. There are dressage, grand prix jumpers and steeplechasers all barefoot. The Houston police mounted division has all 36 of their horses barefoot and they work daily on the streets and in the parks - all over the city.
@semtech30 If you know horses that have dropped dead over shorter distances then denounce their owners for abuse - they obviously weren´t prepared properly with the correct diet and exercise.
Me? What I can do? To advise you to educate yourself at the work of the hoof structures, that's first. Second, let your horse walk as much as it wants. Third, trim its hoofs correctly if needed observing ALL necessary angles on front and read legs.
And THIS is the question of your priorities in keeping a horse - to get pleasure of RIDING/USING THE HORSE disregarding its problems caused by YOUR ignorance and faults in management, OR being responsible enough to educate yourself and have a horse realizing your own ability or disability to give it all what is needed.
lol I was joking...I've owned a horse for 3 years and just 2 months ago got a mare..I must have done something right for my wonderful 20 + rescue horse.
@sk8erdevil5 You crazy mixed up kid (lol) .You be careful. I had a horse in training, went to the trainer's to watch him go & ride him.I forgot my boots. The trainer would not let me get on my horse w/ tennis shoes on.NOT this irritated me.I drove an hour to get there!
A girl wearing phat rubber/heavy soled western boots got drug around a rodeo arena;they finally got the horse stopped. She parapelegic.Don't know if the boots came w/ a warning. The boots were made w/a heavy rubber sole 4 fashion
i get that a lot lol but i ride safe (sometimes) i am told i have too much confidence i would go on a trail bareback with no one with me and have a halter on my horse with a lead rope well if i get hurt i do get hurt doing something i love so riding in converse is the least of my worries lol
@semtech30 The rider probably has shoes on because it isn't fun getting stepped on by a horse with no protection on, a horse has built in protection on his feet that nature designed. Nature put a hoof on a horse similar to a cat's claw- only healthy and useful when used copiously and kept trim- they develop pathology when ignored and left untrimmed and grow too long.
Rock crunchers? Hahaa so you read Pete Ramsey? (at least i think that is his name :-) He says that phrase a hundred times in his barefoot trimming book (which is awesome btw).
Amazing fluid movement...does your Appy shuffle? Heard some do, would like to learn more on it.
Just beautiful extension, poetry in motion. All my horses are barefoot some newcomers in transition and taking longer, so will try Equicast & or Easyboots again.
If anyone knows a good barefoot trimmer who'd like to go to Egypt even for a short trip and work on the very bad hooves of tenthousands of working equines, please contact me. I know an animal welfare association who would pay the trip and accomodation and a pocket money. Even one or two weeks of good work over there would be great. I've been over there and I can't forget the bad hooves I've seen, not hundreds but thousands.
Great video! And the horse looks so happy. well done! : )
Both my horses are barefoot as well. I only had to shoe my older mare for about 6 months at one point due to a quarter crack. But once it grew out, she went back to barefoot and that was 4 years ago. No troubles since! : )
This horse belongs to a friend of mine. He has always been barefoot, but they had recently started the BF trim on him at the time of the video. He is a great horse, I quite like him! (Yes, we do BF trim our own horses though. ;-)
Your horse looks so happy! Do you do the barefoot trimming yourself? I am hoping to find a good trimmer that can work on feet that need to be rehabilitated in the southern cali area. I have a horse with extensive problems and am looking to get him out of his shoes.
wauw nice heel first landing perrrrfect ;o

Beauuttiffullll! He is a great mover, and to be honest.. properly barefooted horses are better movers than any shod horses :)
See that lovely flick of his feed before they touch the ground? That is him fully extending, due to balanced feed, so he lands heel first :)
Wonderful!!

Whats the big deal here?
90% of all horses I see are barefoot these days. No one puts the amount of time riding anymore to justify shoes.
So you do this excersize 3hrs a day every day?? I think not.
I trim serious barefoot trail horses and see colors of the rainbow in the sole's.
They do ok but I do see trauma.
It's your choice.
Part time riders don't need shoes.
The dryer your climate the better.

Absolutely amazing. Good on you.
I have never heard of any horse surviving the amount of work you descibe doing.
I don't know many humans that could even stay in the saddle over those distances and ride as often as you.
Your Full time, All the time energized bunny with super horses.
I know a few that have dropped dead and left on a trail of shorter distance.
So don't expect it easy to convince others of your feats!

@magnumoutfitters A matter of Opinion.
Ever ask your horse ?
So long as you always do what you want, the horse never has the choice.
Until you hurt him. Then it becomes abuse.
I see the rider has shoes on. Why?
