If yes, please help me to understand because I didn't see any Tibetan, nor any Chinese policeman and there were even no indications to demonstrate that the location where the movie has been shot was the Chinese border or ahwrsoever. If you know the history of Tibet and Buddhism in Tibet you will know that all the great monasteries had what might be termed a "police force". During the Communist invasion of Tibet in the 1950's it was the monasteries that had cache's of arms to fight back with. It's a long and complex history. They are not just simple monks. They strive for freedom to be Tibetans and Buddhists.

A medieval society, much the same as Europe was couple of hundred years ago. The Buddhist controlling hierarchy isolated Tibet from change. However anarchic the system was, it was Tibetan. It was certainly freer and less deadly than being occupied by the Chinese. Over a million Tibetans murdered by the Chinese over past 50 years.
