  • How is systema perceived in Israel ?

  • @RexBaselio It is a martial art. Some see the positive effect of the practice and some call it bad names. To each their own.

  • @ransuru I know that friend. I have trained Krav Maga and then after that I started training Systema. The situation that you have in your country arises tension , not relaxation. Hence my question.

  • Could anoyone explain to me in which situations using your fists instead of your palms would be the most efficient way and why?

  • @eirikheggelund I explain this in the video. You work on the fist to learn to relax and allow the impact to move through the body and thus learn better mechanics of your own body. Another point is that it is much harder to lever you on your fist than if you place your palm on the ground. The fist does not stick.

  • @eirikheggelund in theory, if you have perfect control and relaxation, there is no difference whether you use a fist or a knife or a stick or a whip or a palm or a backhand or a finger... hope that gets the point across

  • when you make roll, you shouldn't hold your breath!!!!

    do it on the exhale

  • We work to make ourselves free and able to perform all tasks on all phases of the breath. We put ourselves under pressure in class to release tension and not to repeat it afterwords

  • @ransuru

On the video I see you hold your breath, mabe it just seems to me, but if you make and public educational video, your breath should be very explicit

  • @Tremmmm I already answered this question. Please refer to it and avoid considering pressure only from the outside.

  • Sorry this is no offence to anyone but.... I think this title is misleading.

  • @linz85able

not so missleading, just confusing more so in my opinion, still it was a great video, as allways thanks from England

  • Thank you for sharing!

    great video

  • great video

  • Out of curiosity, at 4:37 you are stating if you hold your breath you will be more aware of you tension, true. However, are you suggesting to hold your breath during movent,( roll ), outside the context of this drill? Great stuff!

  • Moving should be free from a specific breath phase so we work on freeing ourselves of this too in rolling and any other movement. When you do the actual work to stay alive think of staying free and keep breathing.

  • @RazryadWarrior

there are many ways to use holding of breath in systema. you probably could incorporate it into any drill, to increase the awareness of the tension patterns in your body.

but that is a disadvantage exercise for practice. you don't want to learn how to hold breath in general, but let it be full and comfortable.

konstantin komorov has vids on fear on vlad's channel, it explains the breath work quite well.

best of training, and thanks for posting, ransuru!

  • @richardshapiroII We do work in breath holds on a regular basis and KK is a good man and teacher.

  • you are the man

    thank you

  • Nice work Sharon! Good series of clips

    Greetings from systema Long Island

  • My dojo Master was just talking about this and your clip cleared everything up for me...thank you for sharing this information

  • This all makes perfect sence, but that's given a person has nothing on them, a soldier has a lot of disbursed weight and weapons and what not they must move with.

  • Hello Ben,

This drill has a purpose to enhance awareness and wholeness and can be done with full gear or light gear or no gear. The good thing about principles is that they always apply. I tried it and it worked.

There is a saying "a rider may forget he is on the horse but the horse always remembers there is someone on him" If you have gear on you, your body will remind you of that all the time.

  • I completely understand, but what I was trying to say was: When we train in obstacle courses without gear we can move more precise and agile, when we switch to equipment, our moves are slower, and more flaws are noticed on ones self movement.

  • Another great clip - well explained and demonstrated.

  • thx for this interesting and cool training advise !

    greez from systema vienna
