Garber? He's supposed to be the detective...looks like another "change".......I hope it plays out better than the gross inaccuracies I have seen during the filming - like, for example in NYC Motormen operate from the RIGHT side of the train.

my guess is to add the irony of John calling John a greaseball when John has italian backgound himself and played in "grease" my guess lol.

Or ryder calling the detective a greaseball if you don't know the actor names.
