any image stabilization software will degrade the image quality by rotating, scaling, and warping pixels. if that's ok for your project and you want your video to look hokey, by all means use image stabilization!

That's because you don't have extra picture on the borders to substitute in, so it has to go somewhere.

On the second clip with image stabilization the image ripples a little. It looks a little bad.

not sure about the image stabilization, but you need some work on your carving technique: it looks like you attacked that bird with a Weedwhacker.
