Yes I did a few times went with a friend .We never caught a thing. We used small jigs which is why I asked but have heard wax worms are great. During summer I fished bass using earthworms or grasshoppers. I am not a lure type fisherman more like bait hook attach floater 2 feet from hook and cast than wait. Here I use roaches and its a gold mine (roaches are Miamis national "bird"). I have used lures for peacock bass here and they worked great but prefer "Andy Griffith show" type fishing lol
Another idea that works really well here in WI is to use a leach with a floating jig. Place a small sinker about 1 1/2 feet above your jig. Your bait will then float off the bottom. It drives the bass nuts!
During the summer I will often fish off the bottom useing a big earthworm too.
WI fish opener is coming up in the beginning of May so we are already making plans and getting our equipment ready. I don't know when your opener is but I hope you have a ton of luck.
We fish differnt lakes in Northern WI. We specialize in ice fishing for Large Mouth Basss, Northern Pike, and all types of Panfish.
Most people, including my ice fishing partner and I, open water fish for Bass in the spring and fall. A few years ago we decided to try ice fishing for Bass in the Winter and love it!
Hey- I'll tell you what, you tell me where you caught your secret Perch/Bass lake is and I will tell you where mine is... deal? Did you see my other ice fishing for Bass Video or my website? I just added some more sweet pictures of some panfish I caught yesterday... It would be really cool if you could comment on my other video's.
what bait do you use? I heard wax worms are good but have never tried them. I am in Florida but used to live upstate NY

When fishing for Bass in the winter we usually use small minnows called flat heads or small fish called shiners.
However, if you fish for Bass early or late in the ice fishing season, you can catch them on wax worms.
Did you ever ice fish when you lived in NY?
