@Bloodofthejew Also, this is how she expresses herself when singing "to feel the music through her" as she has said in her interviews. I know it can seem annoying but as long as she only does that when recording....well, its a strictly vocal performance, not an acted one! So she has the right to do whatever she wans in the studio! Even dance flamengo!! haha.
Sometimes singers have to do things like that to remind theirselves where the next note is or just to remind themselvels to keep supporting the notes coming out of their mouths . Other times they are just keeping time. Trust me, there is a method to the madness. :)
@nicolkidmanlover5201 at 6:18 "nella pace del mesto riposo" from Donizetti's Maria Stuarda (well, in opera, the title of arias is the first line of the lyrics, so you can find it like that :P ).
If someone would be so kind as to post a few good Italian opera songs names that would be greatly appreciated. I have recently started to listen to it and I will admit it is an amazing aural experience.
this music, well actually singing is awesome. italian opera is one of my favorite genres. if anyone can hit me up with some good tracks i'ld appreciate it.
Actually, the movement of the arm helps you "visualize" the way the note is moving. Choir directors do it all the time to get their singers go think about doing something like going "up and over the note". It helps!
Anyway, it's not like she performs like this. It's for studio purposes so she's comfortable, and sounds as good as she can possibly be.
tutto appoggia sulla gola,il suono esce brutto , e,i,u,o tutti questi vocali negli acuti si transformano nel vocale A...anche la sua mano non la aiuta... non mi piace affatto.
She was trained as a ballet dancer, which might explain some of her arm and hand movement. Also, she has sung under the direction of Emmanuelle Haim, who advocates such movement. Like it or not, it is her style and it seems to work.
As if singing like her is easy. We have this idea that people are born with great voices. What she does is from years and years and years of hard hard work. Let her flail her arms.
she really does have a splendid voice and it is a very VERY powerful gift she bears... but I cannot watch the video, only listen.. I watch it and I become irritated with her flailing arms ._.; it is BEYOND distracting... her passion is true but she really needs to not move so much >>
Triste.
As a musician and pianist, I must say...her meticulous attention to nuances is impeccable. It's pure joy hearing her powerful yet ethereal voice permeate the atmosphere. Pure nirvana!
Hate this voice? Surely not! The voice is sheer perfection. The movements are for her in the recording studio. Not unusual for artists to do this sort of thing . This video is a delight.
I know you people admire this kind music... I do too, it helps me fall asleep.

No instrument can bring out emotions quite like the voice. Impossible to duplicate, and may it never be.

She has such a rich speaking voice I guess its because she is French!
classicalgal14 1 year ago 2
@classicalgal14 It's probably because she has practiced her voice so much. Skilled singers usually develop very powerful/rich speaking voices.
