When Gisnt voice Len Dressler [I think that THAT was the spelling] passed on a few years ago, I was shocked as I had thought it was the immortal Thurl Ravenscroft or Candy Candido. "HO HO Ho GREEN Giant!!"LOL
@SteveCarras No offense, but all the sources I've seen spell Len's last name Dresslar with an "a". The spelling you have is the more commonly seen spelling of that name, as in actress Marie Dressler. Many people for years have incorrectly claimed the Giant's voice was done by Herschel Bernardi, who was the original voice of Charlie the Tuna from the Star-Kist tuna ads.
This commercial is circa 1962 or 1963. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first ad to feature a "live" actor playing the Giant and the first appearance of the famous jingle. The actor is former Olympic ski-jumper Keith Wegeman, who is the father of actress Katherine Kelly Lang from CBS's "The Bold and the Beautiful". The voice of the Giant is by Chicago-based singer Len Dresslar.
