  • i think the music is about the conflict of ideologies since the templar (western-jew) influence.

The blue bowie (represent the goddess kalli, goddess of destruction).

The woman forcing bowie into the mirror (forcing the templar see is own face of kalli - blue bowie).

    The fountain symbolize prosperity.

Money on woman (symbolize another type of war. the economic war)

  • DAVY.....This is a beauty!.....The changes of this songs entity and harmonic oragamy make it a deliht of your yester- year ashes!

  • Is that Brent Spiner playing the bass?

  • how do they get that light bulb shit in his mouth?

  • bloody great song...crap video...dodgy dad dancing going on.

  • Easily the best song on Tonight, and possibly one of the best songs ever written by anyone. Such a multi-level commentary delivered beautifully by a true artist is a real treasure.

  • I think it is an ironic comment about the misplaced or misdirected way Western religion has tried to dominate other cultures by "loving" them— i.e., when you don't convert to our beliefs/ way of worship, we will destroy you, basically. And all the time this is usually done against a background of economic exploitation. An odd way to "love" anyone or anything. But it happened. Can't deny that!

  • @oracleofaltoona Well said!

  • Hermoso tema. Buen video.

  • The one really good original song on the terrible 'Tonight' album. The 80s were a weird time for Mr Jones - who knew the 90s would be so productive?

  • Rock God

  • Rihanna, you and you'r pathetic grammar can get the fuck out of Bowie's piece of art.

  • i love david bowie!! especially in labrynth.. drools*

  • A Great Artist, a renowned singer, a famous musician, a prestigious writer, a wonderful actor & inspired creator... and a humane being. Thanks for being who & what you are.

  • Love it!

  • Is the last scene in the bed a reference to 2001?

  • : | THE BEST.

  • maestro de maestros

  • 4:33 A screamer?, haha...

  • one David Bowie theres only one David Bowie,One David Boooowie, theres only one David Bowie.

  • WOAH. Glowing teeth at 2:48

  • I'm an avid bowie fan, but that song is a load of indulgent tosh!!! I'll not bother with a string of negative adjectives. Bowie is still an outstanding man of musical quality, IMO!!!

  • What was the director smoking?? shit is craezzyyy

  • @lelaki88 You obviously don't understand the sense of bohemia Bowie has. No one smoked anything here, it's just too complex for you to understand.

  • I believe this is his comment on religion. "Loving the Alien" = people believing in mystical deities that will save their lives and souls. The lyrics are fantastic.

  • @KurtRileyOfficial its exactly that

  • @KurtRileyOfficial Bowie hismself considere this song as one of the best he ever wrote. Definitely so underrated.

  • After seeing David Bowie perform Comfortably Numb with David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall, I have wished every day since that David Bowie would join Pink Floyd for at least one new album.

  • Isn't there another version of this that shows his nose bleeding?

  • @lurch321 Yes there was!

  • Bowies dodgy "divorced Dad at a disco" dancing phase.

He runs on and it's like "WTF where's Jagger?. Someone get Jagger for the next video. I can't bop on my own like this!!.

45 secs. Make up style has dated badly, Gloria Hunniford wears that look..

50 secs At the hairdressers: "You would like to see the back wouldn't you?".

1m 8 secs. For F...s sake. He runs like Eddie Izzard

Not the best Bowie song but BBCs Red Dwarf ripped the guitar riff off ... so kudos for that! :)

  • @pensylvania65000 you need to shut the fuck up.

  • @ElfPrincessHarley

Don't you just love Americans and their commitment to free speech?.

So long as they agree with it that is...

    Seriously sweetie, develop your vocabulary.

Can you really only manage five words without swearing?

  • @pensylvania65000 Dont you just love when people decide to insult americans i mean its so much fun... Yet unless you learn proper american you are useless. Can you really manage a few sentences without seeming like a arrogant prick from over-seas also the idea of free speech only applies to american citizens.

  • that buzzing noise right at the end, sounds just like the noise that proceeds an episode of sleep paralysis

  • @TheMorbidchicken what the hell? the few times I've had sleep paralysis, there wasn't a sound like that.

  • The flow of this song is great, ending reminds me of the end scene of 2001: a space odyssey

  • Splendido video - Nice Nice

  • 1:56 he's so gorgous he has the most beautiful features ever

  • Lol, I like his little run and when he slides across the water. He's so strange. <3

  • I seriously randomly looked this up! I typed in "Loving the" and then "alien" came on, thought it was interesting so I clicked it.....I am forever grateful for you uploading this and for my random search~! :D

  • Can you bell ends take your 5 page love letter somewhere else please. Viva la BOWIE!

  • classic.

  • Bowie- god of music......If you are into music you know he´s a legend... who else could sing like this , and the music is so beatiful........... Bowie it´s great for the fans that you were born .

  • Of course this one is a advertising paradigm, so it leaves out the mose bleed. They try so hard to censor the truth, though the truth is, we live in modern America, nothing is fair, safe, or true, ti's better the youth be exposed to the truth, rather than hypocritical mind control.

  • Phrygian mode, bowie knows

  • @2ndSTARMAN Listened all through... where are you hearing phrygian?

  • bowie makes challenging ,interesting and thought provoking music.a rare thing looking on what is on offer today.genius is out there, its just not being heard!

  • I love this video, very Dali-esque

  • damn, david is sexy in this

  • he doesnt have an amazing voice. but its so unique and interesting. he gives me hope for myself. my voice is no.. christina aguilera. its like a madonna/bowie/adele voice. lol. if that makes sence.

  • @PurpleTheDog bowie has a great voice one of the best you will ever hear because bowie knows how to use his voice

  • @SamazRalan well, thats great that you think so, but really - comparing him to gaga and christina... his voice doesnt have the most vocal range, its a nice sounding voice, but he's no whitney houston. if he werent david bowie and he started singing, his friends would make fun of him, im sure he got a lot of shit for it when he was starting off. but that just shows how to be a singer its not about the voice, its about the all around art. hes an amazing artist. bettter then he is a singer.

  • @PurpleTheDog Bowie has a range, ever hear life on mars. In my eyes he is one of the best singers out there. Live he is great

  • @SamazRalan I absolutely agree with you!

  • @PurpleTheDog i say once agian if you ever compare him to the trash of today you will find the world to be bleak, his voice has so much emotion in it, it does not compare with the music of today

  • @SamazRalan i hope you understand what im saying. im not hating on him, i respect david bowie a lot, just stating the truth. its obvious he doesnt have a vocal range, much like madonna, his voicei s just amazingly interesting. its like... deep sex.

  • @PurpleTheDog

He doesn't have a vocal range? Bowie's range goes ( or did at its peak) from a C2 to high G#5.

In terms of pop/rock performers that's pretty outstanding and precicely twice Madonna's.

He's recognised as one of the finest male pop/rock singers on a technical level.

    Your comment is absurd.

  • @DrusillaDarko yeah hes better then madonna but dont you tell me he sings like christina aguilera/gaga/whitney houston. he has an incredible, one of a kind voice, idk about range but im sure hes no where near theirs ^ and please chill, i love bowie, i am not dissing him, his voice is amazing, never heard anything like it, probably never will.

  • @PurpleTheDog He sings way better than aguilera, gaga, and whitney houston. Hes the best!

  • @TheJ731 honestly, there is no comparison to their singing. all those females are obviously better. a man - not so famous and not as musically genius as bowie- who sang like bowie (before bowie existed) would only be singing in his shower, and no one would consider him a good singer. but aguilera, gaga, and whitney have timeless, obviously great voices. im not hating on bowie, i dont even like christina and whitney so much. but there really is no arguing they have better voices. anyone can tell.

  • @PurpleTheDog Bowies vocal range is huge and far more than most male singers. Second, you dont know that people wouldnt like his voice if he was new and started recently. I would definitely like it if it was some new singer. He is an amazing baritone and yet he can reach high notes like no other. You cant just say that those female singers automatically have a better voice because you think so. Either way, singers like gaga could only dream of making music like Bowie. His voice is timeless.

  • @TheJ731 im not saying he doesnt have range, what im saying is his voicei s so exotic people wouldnt label him as a good singer unless he was famous and a musical genius. i have a voice like his, i have a good range but my voice is exotic, if i sing people dont think "OH WOW HES GOOD" they think - um .. "weird voice" its not like most male singers - michael J, justin bieber... you know what i mean.

  • @TheJ731 and im not talking about his music, im talking about his voice. so please dont needa piss on gaga. have you even listened to her new stuff? her whole album? its actually amazing. ive listened to bowie, i have like, 3 of his albums on my ipod, i cant seem to like his music so much. though i have a lot of respect for him because i know he had a great impact in his time, and in current mainstream. i admire him very much. he gives me hope for myself.

  • @PurpleTheDog Not into Gaga because she makes the same type of music that all of the other radio artists do. Yes I listened to her new cd and to me its just not very good. Thats cool that you listened to 3 whole albums but those 3 might not be your favs. Bowie has like 30 albums out and he is labeled as a chameleon because he constantly changes his genres. Its a fact that Bowie is one of the most influential artists today. Id like to know what albums you heard of bowie and why he gives you hope?

  • @TheJ731 i actually have to disagree with your opinion on gaga, but okay, lets not argue over this. to each his own right? 'hunky dory' "lets dance" "the rise and fall of ziggy stardust' - what would you recommend i listen to? i really want to enjoy his music. lol. he gives me hope because like him, my voice is deep and weird. i write music and sing. i wanna be an artist like him/gaga someday. lol. hate all you want my friend, but it all begins with a dream. lol

  • @PurpleTheDog Dont worry, im not hating im just saying we all have opinions about the voices of artists. Thats cool that you disagree about gaga, its just, to me she doesnt write music that is deep, its all very sexualized. To be honest, I want to be an artist like Bowie as well. I play several instruments and I write music. People say I sing like him so im happy about that lol. Hunky and Ziggy are good and lets dance as well but Bowie isnt the happiest with lets dance. Ill make another comment.

  • @TheJ731 well actually each of her songs in this album is very deep. but like i said before - i wont go into that. ummmm. i will look up all these songs. is music something you are going to pursue for real? or is it something you do on the weekends? how old are you anyways? ive been picturing you to be like, a 30 yr old or something. i would love to trade lyrics lol.

  • @PurpleTheDog Yeah those songs are only some of his greats but he has wayyy more.He has written about 550 songs lol so its about exploring and seeing what you like.Actually im 18 years old, what gave you the impression I was 30?I would LOVE to be a musician and I know a way but I have to do a business degree for money.I know a very quick way to be a musician and it bypasses record labels so I will do that.We should trade lyrics but I only have a few that are complete, im still writing the others

  • @TheJ731 oh well i just thought you were thirty because. i rly dont know. bbut i think you should go after your dream, fuck money, you dont need to. and if you make it as a musician you sill make more in a year then yo uwill in a lifetime of business or what ever you wanna do. what is a quick way to be a musician? i would lvoe to know the secret. lol. i dont have complete music either, i write poetry and record some of my tunes i come up with.

  • @TheJ731 i think thats just how it is though, thats why people have co writers, because writing a full song is very hard.

  • @PurpleTheDog haha yes, money is definitely not as important as doing what you love. But for my plan to be a musician without a record company you will need some good money. I think business is just the first part of my plan, then I will try to get into music and film. Yeah I started writing songs not too long ago so ive only got several finished but I plan to have a lot more done in the near future. Writing songs is so much fun lol.

  • @TheJ731 oh. ive been writing for a while. its getting a lot easier. good luck though. i just think its less stressful to go the record company system. lol. so i think ill try that. you need a shitload of money nowadays to do that on your own. but i wish you all the best. god bless.

  • @PurpleTheDog If you like some rock and some really great instrumentals, try "Low". Heathen is an amazing album that was made in 2002. Station to Station is another great choice but dont be fazed by the beginning of the first song, it slowly gets better and better. I could give you tons of his albums but ill name some songs. Some great choices are "Sweet thing/candidate/sweet thing reprise, Conversation piece(Listen to the new version), Slip away, 5:15 angels have gone, battle for britain

  • @PurpleTheDog sry for the third comment but these are some more songs. If you want more albums I can tell you. More songs are, "seven", "all the young dudes", "drive in saturday", "a new career in a new town", "afraid", "everyone says hi", "slow burn", "stay", "space oddity and tons more lol

  • @TheJ731 if you ask anyone to listen to gaga singing you and i on a piano and bowie on his guitar, they will say "oh she has a better voice" its not that he doesnt have range, its that gagas voice is more theatrical and classic, compared to bowies whose is exotic and not some one youd see in a musical. idk. hes amazing, dont get me wrong, but its hard to explain, ask an outside who doesnt like either bowie/gaga/christina/whitney - and they will tell you.

  • @PurpleTheDog Bowies voice far more theatrical than gagas, the proof is in the 70's. You seem to think that everybody wants to listen to the same "american idol" type of voice. Apparently you dont know Bowie very well because he was doing plays before Gaga was even born. Its hard to explain because there is no explanation. You cant automatically say that random people will choose gaga/ch,wh because you like their voice better. Its all opinions and to be honest, Gagas voice gives me a headache.

  • @TheJ731 well okay. lets not argue, i really dont want to argue. i cant tell a bowie fan bowies voice isnt a normal beautiful voice, just like you cant tll me gagas voice is ugly. we know we cant convince each other of those things.

  • @PurpleTheDog I'm perfectly chilled. It's merely that your pithy comment was quite disparaging. I'm glad you concede his range is rather better than Madonna's who you originally compared him to. As for the others, Houston had a greater range, Aquilera does but not by much, Gaga's more or less the same You do understand females have a greater vocal range generally? If we judged on such things a female opera singer would be superior to anyone else in singing hands down....so what does that prove?

  • @DrusillaDarko i didnt ask you to chill. i was talking to someone else, but okay. i wasnt dissing him. i was just saying - he doesnt have the biggest range, his voice is weird and unique. thank you for admitting he doesnt have the range of gaga/christina/opera singer/houston.

i wasnt dissing him in any ways. i was just saying... his voice is different. i cant think of a singer out there today with a voice like his.

  • @PurpleTheDog Do you still insist he doesn't have a substantial vocal range? I listed it, as confirmed, in actual recorded notes. I've had vocal training and know a very good vocal range. What's yours? You're making him out to be some sort of Dylan or Reed...he's C2 to high G#5 for goodness sake. That's a fantastic range for a male in a judgement of singing potential and vastly superior to Madonna or Adele. As I said, on a par with Gaga, technically.

  • @DrusillaDarko omg. can you please just drop this. im sorry if im no expert, i guess i didnt mean range, i meant to say his voice is just deep and its weird. but i meant that in the best way possible. i never said he was a bad singer, i just said its not like everyone elses voice and nowadays, if he wasnt who he is, people would dub him weird. but i think hes amazing. afnasljghaljghalsjfalshfajlsrhasj bowie <3

  • @PurpleTheDog Tis dropped.

  • Tis dropped. be well.

  • @PurpleTheDog Go and listen to Station to Station, this isn't a very good example of his singing abilities.

  • Classic 80's "Talent" ... Not a word that could be applied to the pop shite shoved in our ears now. My Fave Bowie track !

  • Isn't that man at 0:25 , Data from Star Trek:The next generation? He sure looked like him.

  • Ok is this not one of the coolest songs/video. This is music and art. The music nowadays is only agenda based like g o buy make up and designer jeans but we humans and some aliens =) im looking at you Bowie, care more about magic, space, earth, sun, sky, and other wonderful things we dont totally understand. Thank you Bowie! Bowie for Prime Minister!

  • Probably the shit-scariest ending. My speakers were blasting and I didn't expect it.

  • hahahaha I luv his little eye-rolling near the end XD <3<3<3

  • @AloofAri6 ha yeah i noticed that.

  • A song wrote in collaboration with Iggy I guess ?!

  • Thought Red Dwarf was starting in another tab at 1:22.

  • sublime thank you

  • SHUT UP ABOUT LADY GAGA! FUCKING ENJOY THE VIDEO, YOU LAME CUNTS!

  • @wandererlain hahaha,great comment! 100% in agreement.

  • @vorkutaman Oh gosh. Didn't realise I made this comment. Thanks, anyway.

  • @wandererlain well said :D

  • Why does the bridge at 1min22 remind me of red dwarf? hmmm

  • Bowie is a Deity

  • The only thing on my bucket list is to hear David Bowie sing in real life.

Please help me get this to the top comments so he might see it<3

  • @mellowme97 fear not, heard he decided to start reading all the 80s clips' youtube comments regularly in order to reach an informed opinion on whether or not he should have a whack at singing in real life.

  • @TSpike73 lol.... now, now, now.... Didn't a little girl get to sing with Lady Gaga because someone was watching the youtube clips? I would love to see him in concert too.! Probably wont happen, but would love to see it!

  • wtf did all the good singers like bowie go?

  • M A G N I F I Q UE !

  • No one is creative anymore to come up with original artistic ideas... including melodies and ideas for their film clips

  • This music video is brilliant. I also like Ashes to Ashes music video. It's all just so....so...WEIRD.

I love unusual things for some reason.

  • amazing song, cool vid

  • Last 10 seconds were a bit unsettling!

  • Wow, what the hell was that at the end?

  • Did someone understand the last 10 seconds ?

  • I have always loved Bowie I almost had a punch up with my husbands mate over the song Ashes to Ashes .At the time I was just about to have my fourth child .Who cares I was quite happy to deck him

  • Amazing. Sad to say I sometimes forget what an artistic and talented rock icon Mr. Bowie is. Always recreating himself, always producing challenging and emotionally challenging music. I always wanted to see what he was doing, and what he would do next. It's a waste of time to compare him to anyone else or to point to an artist today and say, "Oh they're like Bowie." We'll know if they're like Bowie if THIRTY+ YEARS after thier first albumn anyone knows who the hell they are.

  • What a true song! Absolutely great!

  • credo, q música zuada.

    nao curti nada dessa banda.

    NAO MESMO!

  • is Velvet Revolver's "Loving The Alien" some kind of a reference to this song? They don't have nothing in common except the title which is what made me wonder on the first place

  • Just about the greatest music video ever made! What a great beat; not too dissimiliar from the Thompson Twin's "Hold Me Now". "believing the stranger things" Indeed. Brothers and sisters let us lift our glasses to the music of the 1980's.

  • British legened. I live up to road from where he used to and near the pub where he play between 1969 and 1975. They've got a plaque up outside. His music will never grow old. Absolute genious.

  • Lady Gaga advertisments. Why would I want to listen to that cheap imitation. I'm listening to the real thing here.

  • This has to be the greatest song about all religions :)

  • 2:02 .....I knew he was God!

  • Damn it all. Lady Gaga bordering a David Bowie song is like promoting a genius with a retard. Gaga is all about eurotrash bullshit techno whilst pretending she is some kind of quarky chick. If she ever proves herself otherwise I'll recant my statement. However, she will go down as a person worse than Madonna.

  • @manmanguy VERY WELL SAID...I APPLAUD YOU!!!!!

  • @manmanguy OMG you mad?

  • @gustavovideo15 nope

  • @manmanguy You seemed mad.

  • @manmanguy :/ Relax bro. You seem upset

  • @manmanguy yep

  • its about our thoughts on different people from different cultures, for example Muslims, like in this video clip. it shows the thoughts of the so called cultural west towards the Muslims and other unfamiliar to them nationalities.

  • I have known this song since it's initial release, and been a Bowie fan/listener even longer. The rest of this particular album was not his strongest work, he admits that as well, however, this piece - Loving the Alien, stands up well 25 years later (although I don't think the video was particularly strong). What I've always wanted to hear is this song, redone by Bowie, in a clean, spare acoustic version, or at least with minimal electronics. It could be beautiful and haunting.

  • @fahnke This version does exist ! Live on Reality tour 2003.

  • @fahnke that exists you know

  • yeah the ending is just killer !!

  • Whoever disliked this was probably scandalized by his greatness... and his beautiful bare feet dancing...*sigh*

  • Sincerity, power, feeling, all these he conveys without seeming to expend any effort on his part. A true Master.

  • ¡¡¡¡¡Master of the masters!!!!!!

  • I Love This David Bowie 1985 Music Video, "Loving The Allen." And By The Way, This Song Would Be Playing On Sirius XM's The 80's On 8, And Music Choice's The 80's.

  • this song isn't about aliens, it's about aliens

  • @boxant

Dude, I think it's about the Israeli / Palestinian thing.

  • I just love the way he says SKY ;) and his smile is so adorable!!

  • yeah i alien intercourse!

  • Filosofía y Religión convertidas en una canción pop. Genio.

  • sometimes I think Bowie is completely insane

  • FANTASTIC SONG...

  • in the 80s the videos were more artistically worked now we have 100% SHIT cars, gangsters, drugs, plenty plastic and silicone prostitutions promiscuity like dogs etc etc nothing to feel pround of .

  • @kumatosky You're a moron...

  • @kumatosky I agree, except for the cars. And also, aids spread the most during the 80's so we might be having sex more openly, but we are being smarter about it.

  • @kumatosky its true. the only artist i've noticed to make her music video actual art is gaga, everyone else's is kind of shallow, all about the expensive shit in it. stoopid. his music videos are so random and i think thats what makes art. artist dont see the world like other people do. nothing is literal, its all a fantasy. at least thats how i see the world, and my guess is other artist can relate.

  • 1:22 = intro to Red Dwarf Theme tune.

  • I just laughed my ass off at 2:12! He's like, 'I'm David Bowie, I know you want me baaad.' Haha!

  • @8BlueSkies hahahaah I know like "Damn! how'd you read my mind David?!"

  • ....nice eye shadow Dave!

  • This man is an absolute legend

  • Great number and superb vid (and message) from a fantastic album

  • We are all somewhat similar and yet we are all aliens. Love your inner alien!

  • the theame to rery chistmas mister laurens

  • the theame to rery chistmas

  • Red dwarf into.... :D

  • Bowie's most under-rated single, and one of his most interesting videos as well.

  • dancing like rick astley at the begining there!

  • I think if you watch this video on acid your eyes may melt.

  • I always liked the idea and thought it to be true.

Great to see he made a song about it.

    Very good musician.

  • 3:52 David says: ARGH! Fuck, that's hot
