  • the behind the neck press and the upright row, the two excercises that are most damaging to your shoulder joints, impressive weights you built up, must have very good shoulders to not hurt yourself (Y)

  • 120 kilos = 264 pounds really good behind the neck. my best was 225lbs = 102 kilos in front, cant do behind the neck myself. Great videos keep them coming.

    The conversion was for us Americans lol

  • I can't do the behind the neck press safely. Like you said, due to my genetic composition. No use doing an exercise that feels unnatural and leaves you hurting for a week afterwards. That said, it IS a terrific shoulder builder if you can do it and lots of oldtimers really went heavy with this one. 120 kg is an amazing feat of strength. For me, the military press is the next best thing.

  • To be honest, I think, but for some slight variation, they are more or less the same and so is the result. Both are major delt builders - for instance, I would never combine the two in the same workout, because it would be pointless. Thanks for watching and thanks for the compliment: yeah, 120kg BNP is a feat of strength, and I was natural at this time!

  • I began bodybuilding at age 14 and remained natural until 19, that's 6 years. I then did a cycle of winstrol tablets, and later Dianabol. And then testosterone. However, ethically, I didn't feel right; so I decided to go on an all-out self-righteous natural bodybuilding mission. I was to become the best natural bodybuilder ever seen! I was natural for years after and built an increadible physique, broke all previous lifts. Now my shoulder is damaged; I am prescribed them- particularly cortico

  • However, after summer 2010 I will go in for key-hole surgery, with a re-abilitation period of 6 months! I will then return to the pure path of natural bodybuilding. I have never felt so confident and alive in my entire life as when I was a natural bodybuilder. My injury now is very severe and without the aid of both routeen cortico steroid injections and some other steroids known to aid in recovery while protecting and cushoning the shoulder and joints, I could not BodyBuild at all.

  • @Alpessinhauer Gotcha. I sort of look at you to gauge the type of achievements I can get natural. Then again, I don't think anabolics are illegal down there... and like you've said before "use" and "abuse" are two different things.

    Regardless, hope the shoulder heals up and you can get moving 100% again.

  • I would seriously recommend that you stop doing behind the neck press after your surgery. No matter how you're proportioned, it's an exercise that puts your shoulder joint in a very vulnerable position and post-injury, your shoulder is likely to be a little more delicate than it was before your fall.

The last thing I would so in the world after key-hole surgery is a behind-the-neck press, although I have done them since 14 years old without a single problem. Yet I have met people who cannot touch this excersise and others who have no problem with it. Alan

  • I don't think you're stupid. But it's easy to conclude from your video that you still plan to go back to them. You obviously believe your body is structured in a way that allows you to do them safely, so regardless of injury, you may plan to go back to them. You've said now that you don't and I'm glad to hear it, but you certainly didn't make that clear so that's why I gave you that advice, which is based on direct personal experience.

  • Easy to 'assume', perhaps; and an incorrect conclusion anyway. This movie is not advice to me, but to others. It clearly points out that some people are genetically unable to do this exercise, in which case they should do it from the front. No where do i say to do it after key-hole surgery or that 'i' will be doing so. 14 years of bodybuilding without one injury in the gym [touch wood] makes your assumotion somwhat insult me, although I know you mean nothing by it. So thanks for your concern.

  • and I do not 'believe' that my body is structured in a way that allows me to do them safely, I know it is. It is the first exsercise I began to do to build shoulders and develop them weekly for 14 years, never once with injury. However, trust me, after surgery my shoulder will not be able to do anything much for 4-6 months - after which I wouldn't really sit behind a 120kg behind the neck press to get back into the game. Come on, you must think I'm stupid or something?

  • You shouldn't mention behind the neck press at all. Allot of newbies and young kids probably watch your vids and look up to you and it is an exercise that can ruin you before you learn you don't have the so-called correct structure. As for my supposed assumption, it's perfectly feasible that you might think it is still safe to do. You obviously "know" that it is safe for you to do so maybe you think your injury would have no bearing on the exercise. I was simply trying to return

  • the favor as you've given me helpful advice in the past. But obviously you think you are the master blaster and your sensitive ego can't handle people telling you things. All you had to say was "Yeah mate I'm aware of that and I definitely won't be doing them" but you had to be an arrogant prick and say "don't worry".

  • All I said was 'don't worry' you're the one who said 'Ok Arnold' - think about which one of us was the arrogant prick. Either was, I count you among my few good friends here on youtube and always will. Take care max? Oh - you're one of the guys who has problems doing BHTN Presses right? There is just an absolute genetic disposition between individuals who can and can't do this excercise due to their skeletal structure: I've seen thousands of cases of it. Guys with probs, guys with no probs.

  • I'm not stupid either Allan and I trust my perception and I'm positive you were offended by my original comment and "don't worry" meant "don't patronize me, I know what I'm doing" or something similar. You confirmed it by your later comment saying that you're not stupid.

    That aside, I have no beef with you and I wish you luck with your recovery and your training. You are a great bodybuilder, and an inspiration.

  • great advice man, your completely right about the behind neck press, i just cant do them because of my body structure, but i can go really heavy with the front presses.. i also super set lateral raises with wide grip upright rows that really fries my delts! plus the dumbbell raises with my chest on and incline bench for rear delts... keep up the hard work great shape man.
