awwww i love Samoyeds. they're my fav breed of dogs. :D my family has been planning to buy one someday, but we have no idea where to get a good one. i live in Vancouver, Washington. i've been trying to find a breeder, but i can't seem to find any online. do you have any ideas?
I have a 2 year old male Samoyed. We are bring home soon a Samoyed puppy also male and I hope my 2 males can get along. Hope that their wont be any dominance issues with them. Love your Samoyeds!
She is a beautiful dog! I can tell that she loves you a lot. And I agree that aggression isn't really something that you need to worry about with samoyeds. Samoyeds are one of the gentlest breeds of dog I know and they're great around young kids. I have a 9 year old samoyed named Pola and not once have we had problems of aggression with him, even after allowing him to jump up and stuff like that.
that's how our samoyed girl helmi (pearl in finnish) also did when she still was a bit under 12 months old. nowadays she just sleeps next to you on the couch
Your sammy is beautilful. Im planning on getting one after my Sheba goes, shes a german shepherd by the way. So believe me i know all about high maintenance, sheba was a wee bitch but i love her all the same, now that shes 13yrs old and getting worse and worse know the end is coming soon :( but being the type of person who craves companionship from a furry friend i dont want to be without a dog for too long after shes gone, would you reccomend a samoyed?
I love your samoyed!!! There is a breeder about ten minutes away from where I live, and I'm thinking about getting one. Do you have any tips/advice on raising them??
@brayli056 Samoyeds are wonderful dogs but need a lot of attention. They are family dogs, rather than one man dogs, and will want to be part of a family. You can't expect them to stay outdoors and be happy - they will want to be near you and in the house (and in the summer that is essential if you are in a warm/hot area). Their hair is usually odorless but they blow their coat and you need to be ready to deal with that. They remain puppies for years - and puppies take attention. Good luck.
Your dog is absolutely gorgeous. I love the samoyed breed, they're such a wonderful dog. Watching this video does make me nervous though. Your dog is showing dominant behaviour. Letting your dog jump up on top of you without any invitation (or even with one, for that matter) is very risky business, and can lead to further dominant behaviour, such as becoming overly protective of you (being aggressive to anyone who comes near you), biting, unwanted barking, aggressiveness, pulling on lead, etc.
@HouseOfPeppers Thank you for your advice. I probably shouldn't let her jump on me but she is actually a very docile dog. She gets along very well with other dogs and people - extremely gentle. I don't really subscribe to the Cesar theory of dog handling, actually - my girls are family members. They aren't distructive, food aggressive and are happy, affectionate girls. Aggression has never been a concern. Could be because they are Samoyeds.
@PennyQuilts: I've had 4 Samoyed's now, and all of them had a tendency to want to jump up to where you're sitting and snuggle up next to you. The ultimate breed for affectionate types!
As a Samoyed owner I would have to agree. I think there is absolutely some value in Cesar's approach, but Samoyeds are very unusual in how they relate to you. They need to be reminded you are in control, but the relationship is less absolute, a little more like a cat or a ferret because they have an independent streak. Mine does not have an aggressive bone in his body he just likes to be a butt sometimes. They are truly amazing dogs.
@starfaery , she used to used her mouth for hands and wanted me to pet her. She still does that when she gets excited even though she isn't supposed to.
I like how she's gnawing on your face lol

@silvermist2120 Get a Samoyed from dog rescue. I did dog rescue for 10 years, and I kept the best 2 out of 20.

@endornify thank you so much! I'll be sure to keep that in mind. :)

@donell706 You have a disgusting mind. I think no one even bothered to view it that way. Sad that you have to, though.

Your doggie is SO adorable and so affectionate! ^-^
Reminds me of my dog, Sophie - she's an 8 year old American Eskimo. Looks just like your dog, but much smaller.
I don't see any problem with having your pet jump on you; Sophie does it all the time, and she's a sweetie!

I love how she sounds so indignant every time you boot her off your lap. God, Sammies are so cute, but they seem very high maintenance.
