Heck the state governments don't support what the people want anymore than our congress does SO how in the thunder is taking the vote of the people away from the people MAKE things better? Term limit would be the only thing needing repeal NOT who votes for our congress or senates

Nothing Less than these remedies will restore our Republic to it's prosperous state. We must choose our Representatives wisely in these matters. Sever the Arms, Legs & Head of this Tyrant that has crept in, & the rest will fall in place.

Severing the Arms & Legs should precede beheading the beast, so the economy may stabilize & the steady flow of goods & services amongst the states may not be frustrated by any destructive actions, by the Federal Reserve while anticipating it's severance.

Incumbents & Prospects for the House and Senate must pass these questions:

1. "Will you support and/or move to repeal the 16th & 17th amendments of the Constitution and cut off the arms of the Tyrant to restore property rights and state's rights?"

2. "Will you cut off the Legs of the Tyrant by supporting and/or moving for amending the Constitution to define and/or remove the Commerce Clause and Necessary Clause, restoring Liberty to the people?

3. Will you sever the Head of the Tyrant by supporting and/or moving to abolish the Federal Reserve to restore sound money to the people?

If they can't support these remedies they need to be marked as weak and/or incompetents or as too cowardly to carry out what must be done to restore our Republic

In one side of his mouth Mike Lee explains and admits that the 17 Amendment is bad> 2:03-2:39 and then he discounts the idea of repealing it out of the other side of his mouth saying in practical terms it aint gonna happen. 3:37-3:48. We need to vote people in who HAVE the will to REPEAL the 17th amendment. He is correct that with the people we have in congress - and he didn't exclude himself from these cowards - it may never happen because they just don't get it and are cowards to boot.

The legislative appointment of senators has less to do with states rights than with elite politics. The "founding fathers" feared the rabble and wanted to keep the "higher" legislative body in the control of elites hence the appointment of senators. The dirty little secret here, if it is secret, is that the founding fathers were elitist and hardly democratic. The US began as an oligarchy and the 17th amendment hasn't changed that reality..

Lots of historical amnesia here. The US Constitution created a stronger federal government. Federalists, note the name, supported this new constitution. Anti-Federalists did not. Alexander Hamilton and George Washington set about creating this new stronger federal state instituting a national bank and economic protectionism to create stronger manufactures. The Federalists would split over what Hamilton and Washington did creating the first party system in the US.

The Senate's original purpose was to keep power out of Washington. Senators don't do that when they're elected, though. If we repealed the 17th Amendment, we'd get rid of Senators like Barbara Boxer, John McCain, and Harry Reid! I can think of 97 more good reasons to repeal it.

Interestingly enough that the Fed (reserve) started 1913 as well.

@nonaCbarC Yes, 1913 was a very bad year for freedom, peace and prosperity: the Fed Reserve, 17th amendment replaced, and the 16th amendment (Income Tax) added. Like Ron Paul says... we should repeal 1913.

This Mike Lee guy is one to watch. I've not heard of him before and I like him already.

@kmg501 Check out his issues page. He says military action would be justified against Iran if they built a nuclear weapon. But it sounds like he's against nation-building.
