I got this disc free with my new pioneer player in 1992. Little did I know that the player was defective when I bought it., it still made a good cd player.
someone could create this idea ,DSDvideo laser disc , record it blu-ray laser, or it the new technology Holographic Versatile Disc "HVD" , Direct Stream Digital Video, uncompress video and audio , original master
@DoverBroadcasting That was only on disks that were not made correctly at the factory or used wrong type of adhesive to put the two sides together. Not all the disks as a whole.
I got this Laserdisc at a local record store for $1. I don't have a Laserdisc player (at the moment), so once I get it I'll probably upload the other content that's on this disc. Meanwhile, thanks for uploading this.
Also, we're in the year 2010 and I'm still waiting for my XYZTV!
I just ran this video through My panasonic blu-Ray recorder which can can Play you-tube videos straight from the net and the resolution was was a bit choppy.
@JoeNostalgiaReturns Well I’ve had bluray for just under 1 year and I dislike it for facts! One the picture is no different than before it has the same colour balance video manipulation issues! I thought the format was to make a promise of difference. It has not!
Sound wow even classic DOLBY STEREO film mixes 70mm 6track are being botched up beyond belief! WOW EPIC FAIL for bluray is all I can say.
The DVD gets more use over the bluray! The laserdisc player gets its fair use today. Bluray fail
"Would you believe that I have a LaserDisc that has better PQ than my Blu-Ray version of the same film."
Yes.
The quality of the format is not the only factor that determines overall picture quality.
The condition of the source material and how well (or badly) the source material was transferred to video are also other factors.
The Blu-Ray might have used source material that was not in good condition with an inferior film-to-video transfer compared to that used with the LaserDisc issue.
The company that released it (Anchor Bay) is notorious for altering movies. I had a copy of Halloween (1978) and the screen was tinted to make the leaves yellow. I assume that was the same reason this one was tinted as well.
I've had 3 LD players spanning 18 years now and have no desire to stop using the format. Folks are always surprised to see this "old tech" on my 1080p HDTV when they come over for movie night. Even at its native resolution, it still looks fantastic.
I have a LaserDisc player and this original demo! I used to think this was the coolest and most "futuristic" thing ever when I was little. I wonder how much technology will change in the next 20 years?
I own a copy of this laserdisc and I must say I was very impressed how good it looked on my 106cm lcd tv I then asked myself why didnt they make all laserdiscs in as good quality as this?
this is the secound laserdisc set that my father bought, after many years he still working perfectly, with the original optical units, after him come others my last laserdisc is a Pioneer DVL 909 a laserdisc dvd player..

Imagine if we had Blu-Ray discs the size of LaserDiscs...you could hold 4 seasons of a TV series on one disc!

What movie was that at 4:25?
Swampert384 1 year ago
Laser disk was the best thing before DVD.

@DoverBroadcasting Yes but this Demo is talking about the ones that were made right, so they are almost indestructible,

5:21 CAV disc. It's interesting how easily you can see some of the structures that makes up a TV signal.

Holy crap. It's 2010 now and not only do we have HDTV, we're getting 3DTV :O
This video is old! <3 Laserdisc forever. I love Blu-ray, but we'd never get there without the contributions of Pioneer.

I say it because they added a tint to the Blu-ray. A Blue tint.
scarmulletpart2 2 years ago
The picture has a bluish tint?
That would be a problem with the film-to-video transfer.

scarmulletpart2 2 years ago
That's bad that they are deliberately throwing the color balance out of whack like that.

I've got a Pioneer CLD1750, which I have had for over 20 years, does a great job with video discs but won't read the info on all my CDs.
