I've had this Tablet PC for about a week and I realized that's it's lacking some of the most basic functions of a laptop. First off, it's beautiful machine but not very functional. I cannot believe a $2000+ laptop doesn't have an optical drive! I can't install software, watch movies, copy data to a CD, or even share my files onto a disk. What a huge inconvenience. I hate this thing!!
Regretfully the toshiba Portege series is not designed for for multimedia such as videos but is instead aimed at business solutions. In my opinion you sound's like a toshiba satelite model would be best for you.
why not buy a slim optical drive from ebay..they have really slim CD and DVD in one drives for $50 plus shipping which will go great with this slim laptop..Also they have the same style drives with burner capabilities..thats what i plan on doing if i buy this
