I'm not sure whether i want to watch the movie or not. Though it looks interesting...ugh... but because of all the hype & pa-lava from all the Twi-hards about how gorgeous Robert P is and thus justifies why he is an amazing actor... which i don't agree with.

I do think I'll read the book first, but my only problem with Robert P is that he sort of acts exactly the same in every movie and therefore i will always see him as the guy from twilight... IMO. *shrugs*

everyone said I HAD to read this book before the movie. I started today and 13 hours later, I'm done, just in time. and i love the book. HOWEVER, i saw the trailer first and from that alone i know they're gonna mess up the film. Hair wrong color(marlena is a brunette, jacob is a redhead) and they added in parts and lines that were NEVER in the book and really no offense cuz i like all the actors but christoph waltz i think is the only smart choice they made, i feel the others may be... dry sry

How they figured they could just completely wipe out a main character (Uncle Al) is beyond me >_< I guess I should have watched the crappy movie first, then maybe I wouldn't be so critical of it. They didn't make a movie of Water for Elephants. All they did was steal some ideas from it and create a crappy romance, just like all other movies out today

This movie looks terrible. Anyone that says the cast is great needs to start watching movies with better acting. Its a shame that they decided to turn this book into a commercial movie like Twilight or Harry Potter. Thank god there was only one book. Everyone should just read the book. Watching the movie will only make people enjoy the book less. I suggest anyone who wants the book to remembered as a book should boycott the movies. Hollywood needs to stop making terrible movie adaptations.

A lot of uninformed so called 'animal rights activists' are going on about the fact that they have real animals acting instead of computer generated animals doing the scenes, but in truth, they take really good care of them, and these animals have been 'in the business' so to speak, for years, so it's not like they just took a random wild African elephant and stuck him/her in a movie.

The book IS excellent. I would recommend reading it first then seeing the movie. The cinematography, set dressing and costumes are spot on 'for the period'....really brings the book alive. In addition to Oscar winners Waltz and Witherspoon, up and comer Robert Pattinson (who, I believe, is the owner of an ol' soul and can reflect the more genteel times of our nation)...Hal Holbrook is excellent as the older Jacob. I hear Mr. Holbrook speaking when I re-read thebook recently.

i just read the book- it was really really good!! but for some reason i feel like the movie will make it somehow .... i dont know, more childish, cornier, cheaper. The casting of rob is objectively actually not bad, and reese should be fine. we'll see. i dont think it can match the book in any way though.
