  • He is forgetting one key element at the amateur level or "weekend" warrior level. If you're wanting to hit it lower, into the wind, you certainly need to slow the swing a tad but need to also drop a club or even two to make up the distance you'll lose hitting it into the wind and with that slower swing. It works for me. If you decide it's a normal 7iron and it's into the wind, choke down some on a 6 or even 5 and take your normal stance normally like Phil says, slow the swing to reduce spin.

  • that fairway looks like my local course's green

  • He is hitting that shot in optimum conditions, in a tourny there is wind, there is pressure, there is lie, everything, but he is without a doubt, one of the greatest short game players to ever live.

  • now only if he could do it in a tourney

  • @pgatourprov1x He just did, at Pebble Beach and blew Tiger away by 11 strokes!!

  • I wish I had that swing

  • i hate how easy he makes it look

  • who edited this?

  • Phil is the greatest !!

  • i love how that flag wasnt blowing in the wind whatsoever =P

  • 0:06

  • i love how the suggested video at the end is called 'phil mickelson 13th hole us open disaster

  • most teachers play it back in the stance more but if Phil says this is how to play it, there will be no argument from me! Thanks Phil and it;s off to the range for me to work on this new concept!

  • great player, looked like he was hitting off a green lol. wish our greens looked like that fairway.

  • i love phil like the next guy BUT... he has never been a great wind player. grain of sand.

  • @blandhoney

Pretty sure the only great player in windy conditions is Tiger Woods.

  • @justinp766 Right, Tom Watson, 5 time Bristish Open winner can't play in the wind for shit. Only lil niglet.

  • @tchwiss hes the one who said the wind is your friend dumbfuck. thats why he won 5 times

  • @justinp766 and every golfer in texas that's worth a damn. kite i believe. hogan. etc etc

  • @justinp766 Peter Thompson, 5 times british open winner because of his ability to hit low draws beneath the wind. pretty sure he would be classed as a great player in windy conditions

  • @blandhoney He did pretty well in the wind at The Open this year?

  • @Pithead yes! and none was happier than i to see it.

  • Also when putting the ball back in your stance your chances of pushing the shot are greater. That is for a RH golfer the ball would go straight but end right of target.

  • Phil you are the Man !!! I love your simple yet effective approach to golf shots. Good Luck on Tour !!!
